I have been one of the many viewers of IB from the first episode. Still, I watch IB out of habit. I too have my own share of complaints and criticisms, on both the tracks (plot) and character consistency. But we have to agree on one thing - "Change is the only constant in Life"
After merger, many discussions have become toxic and depressing (sorry for using these word, but frankly, thats how I feel many a times!) both in IF and other SM. But did/do we get anything out of it? Nothing, zilch. We should never forget the fact that IB is one of those fictional show, where nearly all the characters can be associated with the real life, though sometimes it definitely gives OTT; C'mon guys, afterall, it is a Indian daily soap made by those people, which is the sole reason for the daily roti for, if I'm not wrong, thousands of people. Their life is smooth sailing till the show is on (we can't disagree on it!) And the show is on only till it is on the TRP chart.
Originally the show is popular among those modern youth and the above mid-generation, (I'm one of them) who could relate to it to 'T'. Thats what made me fall in love with IB. It shifted the mood that Daily soaps can also be made out of the typically existent circle. But may I ask you, how many used to watch IB (I mean the golden era the first 100 and so episodes of IB) on TV religiously every night at 10 PM? I am not a TRP audience, I don't contribute to it. Even if I were in India, I doubt if I will watch on TV with my family and in-laws at 10 PM, which is almost the time for bed and if you are situated in non-Hindi speaking state, which in-laws will prefer watching a Hindi soap at 10 than a regional program?
If I am not wrong, when the show got the first warning, Shivika shaadi was preponed to end of Nov, when Gul had told previously that Shivika shaadi will happen in Jan. In late Oct and Nov 2016, was where Rumya, Priveer and Om's past was being explored. Since IB was given a warning, the only way to raise the TRP was to show drama, that too dhamakedar and zabardast drama! which they showed in the best way and IB came into Top 10 list of TRP. In the chakkar of TRP, the journey and development of Rumya, Priveer was abruptly put to halt. When they moved along the journey of Shivika, Om's past, which was getting opened slowly was also left behind.
Meanwhile, when Daksh's exposure came after Shivika shaadi, I think the script was originally written with Obros going to rescue to Annika. Since Kunal and Lee went down with dengue, they had to change the script and focus on only Shivika till they came back. Now, imagine, after a month long halt in the Rumya track, Priveer track and Om's past exploration, how do they go back to those tracks and accomodate them, when they have already started with Tia's pregnancy track? Just imagine the mess they had been in with the script spread all around, but the only thing that kept them going was TRP, which was stable above 2. So I guess, they wanted to maintain the TRP stable for IB with Shivika. There were already complaints from the fans that why is OM and Rudra track not given importance. To accomodate it, they introduced Nafratbaaz, which gradually paved way for DBO to make an entry for Om's lead, which is the only thing, they successfully did.
Just imagine, we, the loyal viewers, we analyse each and every nuances they show with every character and scene. Praise the Lord, that in the chakkar of TRP race, atleast the CVS did not stop giving these original and distinct and untold, but only felt touches which only IB has.
Difference between the we, loyal viewers and TRP audience:
When the plot line goes out of track for us
We - Why did they have to deal this way, this is not how it is meant to happen
TRP audience - 😲 Now what will happen?
When Bromance is showed
We - have a automatic smile plastered on our face
TRP - Amused at first, then they come to a zone of 'Can it happen this way too?'
When atrange kapde were introduced
We - Yew... How can this type of costume made, jika sar aur pair samaj mein nahin aa raha?
TRP - Hey 😕 aise bhi kapde hote hai kya?
Color-co-ordinating family
We - Who were such color-coordination in daily basis?
TRP - Unka roz koi theme or color hota hai kya? 🤔
When Groupbaazi is shown
We- Complete facepalming
TRP - (Atleast a fewer majority) 😭 kitne knitted bonding hai, unki... they feel incomplete without the other
Girls- gang
We - *facepalming* *cringing* havent moved our mindset from the earliest one (Annika, Saumya, Priyanka, Mallika)
TRP - (Atleast a fewer majority) 😳 Hayyee.. jethani-devrani ho toh aise *sighs* Kaash humare bhi aise hote... Non-complaining, understanding sister-in-laws
The list goes on...
Regarding Saumya made as NB sister, even I am still face-palming at this, but can we go back in that? No. Bhavya was introduced as Rudra's pair after Saumya's exit. If only, the CVs had not dragged the 1-hr show and had shown proper Om-Gauri journey and Rudra-Bhavya development, I'm sure, we would have settled for Bhavya without this much complaints (though secretly wishing for Rumya to happen!) I still am not able to understand, why did they waste 1 hr episodes with unnecessary experimenting with Tejvilana plot, unnecessary stretching of Pinky arc. Had those things not happened and had they paid attention in lead pair development, we would not have made to assume everything as far as the easy camaraderie of leads go.
In the end of the day, it is a daily soap for entertainment. If we view it with the eyes of entertainment, than watching it with logical goggle on, we will definitely be able to enjoy the episodes inspite of stupid planning(Veer's plan with Aryan) , experimental medicines (Svetlana's and Veer's), un-real happenings (Phone in soup, instead they could have shown a passport size laminated photo drowned in the soup)
Earlier, Shivaay used to get irritated everything Annika's chand bracelet gets struck in his coat or button or anything, gradually he ignored his irritation, he took it as a few moments to cherish Annika beside him. Now, he knew very well Annika had donned this avtar to irk him and enjoy some mischief. He is aware of that. Now, though he doesnt express his irritation all the time, he still does it when it interferes his interaction with her. Now that Annika is very much aware that Shivaay can no more tolerate this avtar of her, she just wants everything to get over quickly and don her original one. But we cannot disagree that when they remember it after few months, both will be laughing just like Shivaay laughed saying 'Annika, tum kitni middle class ho?'
I hope, you guys, understand what I mean. I just want to be happy after the episode, be it watching the silly fights between the leads or trolling of the characters in the forum after the episode is aired. The characters have evolved (be it worse or better upto us to decide it), its high time, we accept it.
Dwelling in the past, will only make our present life stagnant...
