This track is well executed.. Brilliantly Acted.. The CVs are finally utilizing the potential of the ensemble talented cast.. 👏

I agree blackmail(however repetitive/contrived it is) is not the point of this track.. It was just a move.. Billu took Anika and OmRu into confidence(semi-truth).. but Billu miscalculated and did not consider the older Oberois.. their insecurities.. their reactions.. and hence, he lost this game!

The aftermath of this track can be a learning curve for all characters.. because all their weakness.. all their flaws.. all their insecurities are out in the open.. No one has been spared.. Karma is judging each and every one of them for their past action and laying the foundation for their future based on their decisions at present...

I am kind of excited about how CVs take this forward... but dialing down my expectation as well.. 😆😆

P.S. Will try to write another essay after watching the episode.. there are quite a few things worth discussing.. :)

P.P.S NM has been absolutely brilliant! A proud proud proud fan here.. NM deserves all the praises being showered upon him.. The way he keeps on improving in each track is commendable! 😊

Thanks, BW :)

@bold: Word...that should indeed be the logical outcome of this track and today's scenes did seem to be setting up the basis for that again as Shivaay told Rudy he has to take responsibility now so hopefully for once, they don't make a half-baked pappu out of all this and actually take the opportunity to evolve the characters.

Rudy cannot and WON'T ever grow up if he always has his Shivaay bhaiyya around to cater to his every whim and fancy at the drop of a hat...he's close to Om but Om doesn't exert that kind of authority over him either...in being each other's support system, somewhere, the brothers have stifled each other's growth too...Shivaay still was able to evolve through Anika...but OmRu have a long way to go...especially Rudy...sometimes you have to be thrown into the deep end of the pool in order to learn how to swim.

Was saying the same to Mads on Twitter...that moment when Shivaay tells Rudy that with Om out and Shivaay leaving, Rudy has to be the one to take care of everyone...you can just see on Rudy's face that he's both heartbroken and just NOT ready to do that...he's literally the baby of the family for a reason and frightened to death by the possibility of his bhaiyya not being there to take of everything...a seemingly impossible task for anyone else, let alone him.

And yes, the family as a whole can evolve too...some soul searching from the elders possibly about why it even has to come to Shivaay alone to fix everything when they as the elders are just sitting by making things worse

Track has tremendous potential, we are all excited despite ourselves😆...let's see where this goes.

Anu, I had secretly wished for you to open a thread today. Thank you Anu.🤗
Tremendous week indeed.

Disclaimer:
I am not talking of the episode in general because I am leaving out the reactions of certain other characters. So this is not an episode discussion.
I have my own disagreements to whether Shivay as a character should go this length and protect his family. So there are disappointments. Hence, this not appreciation(s) post. Also, I am talking about 3-4 characters and hence, cannot put the discussion in one actor's AT.

With the above clarification...
I have loved the past episodes with emotions right on point and no dragging. I'll just talk about few scenes that touched me.

Press conference
Loved NM's variations/voice modulation as Shivay speaks about Om and Ru not handling the family business and why they do not deserve to retain their shares. Yes, he is forced to say things about his brothers he wouldn't have even imagined about in his wildest dreams or worst nightmare.
In spite of what he mouthed as per Svet's instructions, there is immense love. Despite the harshness , he manages a little smile, along with a wave of the hand when he stresses on the syllable...Ommm...dil se sochta hai, dimaag toh jaise hai hi nahi. Shivay at that moment is still in awe of Om's inherent tendency to think as per what his heart longs for ( viewer's take note that this is as per the initial Om's characterization on paper). That little smile is for his brother's ability in doing so. The little wave of hand there shows his exasperation that the world ( read Tej and the likes of Svet) does not find that quality endearing or of value.

When he talks of Ru, he mouths as instructed, paise, parties, girls being his life. Woh apna padhai sambhaale, yehi kaafi hai "humare liye. That' humare liye' is his personal viewpoint. The hum' here being Shivay himself, Dadi, Om, even Anika) are expecting from him, that he manages his studies well at college.

He was totally not in control of the situation; he had uttered words with such harshness. The cold ruthless self he had to keep up when he was dying a thousand deaths within. Absolutely love the finale to the press conference. When he fights back tears and faces the media waiting to pounce on him . That shake of his head to the press... " Yes I am ready, any further questions? The choking "Hmmm??? Filled with anger, desperation, helplessness, that was so heart breaking. If not, then please leave!!!.

I must say NM has become very effective in using his eyes to get the emotion across, way much better from the initial episodes of IB. The aftermath of such devastating, self detrimental press conference was shocking to him to say the least. When Tej and Pinky had their public showdown leading to Tej's heart attack', Shivay was too numbed to see what the situation had led to and his family further collapsing right before his eyes.

Amazing it was. It was a real high point in yesterday's episode. Another I'd mention is Anika spells it out to him that his silence is being misinterpreted. She uses sab', though it was only Tej accusing him at that point in time.

Crumbling family.
Rightly so as Dadi said, the mere mention of him leaving OM itself has started to disintegrate the pretense of the joint family he promised his Dadi.
The faade of the family's so called trust was fast disappearing right in front of him. Svet knows everyone's weakness , she knows them inside out. How conveniently she told Shivay that her work is done, now HIS family will see to it that HE is humiliated or tortured. I think Shivay has never felt this helpless till date. Even during the separation Anika forced on him, he was still deciding what needs to be done. Here he is just a pawn. The best thing is that Shivay still owning 50% shares has never mentioned that he would not provide for the entire family because he does not differentiate between the two families. It's Tej (and now Jhanvi) who has forever had the insecurity that Shivay will usurp everything that belongs to their OWN children too.

NM was fantastic in the scene where he folds his hand to visit Tej JUST once. Heart breaking!!!

Rudra
What do I say, such situations force people to grow up overnight. Funny though that his family is falling apart, his wife has gone searching for his so called love interest. I wasn't happy that he was tipping 1 lakh for a 10lacs bike when half their property is gone, ghar is almost neelam, BUT!!
Lee was fabulous in Rudra's scene with Shivay. Loved that moment where he raises his voice at his brother for even thinking about leaving them and immediately apologises saying Ok ,Sorry, I shouldn't have done that. And Shivay's heleplessness, protective of him, yet literally begging him, gusse mei hi sahi that he now needs to manage this family. The anger, the frustration, the tears, the requests, the pleads, the hug.

Man!!!! So they are capable of such emotion packed writing too. Nitika, Mahesh Thakur have individually been so fabulous throughout. Pinky is wrong and right too. How do you place your feelings for her: with her or against her?

Whenever the ARC to this happens, I am just worried who would have to clear Shivay's name. When Pinky was exposed, Shivay cleared Anika's name and took pride in his wife's and brothers' love for him. Ab Anika can't do the same in this situation. It's left for Om or Ru only. I wish the emotions in that episode are just as good. Warna !!!!

There was a time I used to wish for a light hearted scene in a show I used to watch because it was forever filled with negativity. Now I am loving this drama than the fillers.
I just hope they don't retain Shivika in another portion of OM to be tortured day in and out. And though I believe Om and Ru should only excel in their field of interest, I would want the family of Tej to understand that Shivay is THE BUSINESSMAN for a reason. Everyone can't do everything. And for the empire to stand, Shivay has to be around. I would like to see more of Shivay and Tej. Good actors, both of them. Why not explore and utilize?

IB, bring it on.

That disclaimer wins EVERYTHING, Ganga🤣👏

Loved how you described the nuances from the press conference when he has to deride his brothers...NM was MASTERFUL at his craft this week...there's no other way to put it...and I really marvel over the growth we've seen in him as an actor...I have to flashback to the early days of IB where I thought he wouldn't amount to much more than the usual stone-faced generic Gul lead...BOY has he proven us all wrong...and the cherry on the icing is that just when we feel we've seen the best he has to give to this show, he ups his own level...this whole week was one such week...with every subsequent epi, he genuinely held me in awe...from the property papers drama on Mon/Tue to the press conference to the fallout today...every single day, a new amazing variation from him that just left me going wow...in the press conference toh I honestly saw lots of SRK hangover in him😆...but in a good way :)

Word on this being the first time Shivaay utterly loses control of a situation, is utterly defeated...was saying the same on Twitter yesterday as well...Seperation still gave him some semblance of control cuz he got to throw Anika out as a "reaction"...this time he doesn't even have that...he can only helplessly watch everything falling apart, still a puppet in Svet's hands.

Shockingly for the first time an ARC successfully played out over the course of a week without making us bang our heads in frustration😆...this is pretty huge by IB standards...time will tell if the rest of it plays out this well too ;)

Shivika are deffo leaving...there's new pics out of them shooting the scene when the exit OM.

And honestly Pinky was like she always is she could not shutup even after all that happened. She should have just kept quiet. Tej had every right to be angry and demand answers from shivay.

You're right Shivay did pay a price. He paid a price for not confiding in his family. He cannot handle eveything. I know he hs this protective instinct towards everyone but when people ask him to tell them he should tell them. He should have talked about the video. Told them his plan and then taken this huge step. Just because Omkara and Rudy blindly trust him doesn't mean their parents also have to. And Jhanvi did trust him until her husband literally collapsed on the ground!

Really? And throwing Shivaay out would make her "win back everything", is it? Throwing Shivaay out would bring back her son's rights, improve her husband's health? What kind of "maturity" is that from an elder of the house then?

Are relationships supposed to be transactional? Was the only reason Jhanvi had any affection for Shivaay that he let her sons have shares in the family business they didn't even work in?

The irony to me is that Shivaay didn't even keep up the act beyond the press conference...he was drowning in remorse and clearly showing it to the family too...anyone could CLEARLY see he didn't mean what he was saying...but Jhanvi was willing to throw him out of the house, willing to disown him from the family, telling him that he is no longer a brother to Rudy simply because he wouldn't tell her the reason? 😕

And let's recap some of Tej's shenanigans, shall we? Openly paraded a mistress around the family for many years, openly tried to undercut Shivaay in business many times, openly tried to light his own wife on fire, feed his son to a crocodile...did ANY of these qualify him to be thrown out of the house and disowned by the family? Ironically no. Shivaay doesn't tell them the reason for one blackmail and he's out the door? 😕😆

So Shivaay's fault is not that he didn't tell them the reason...his REAL fault is that he LET them take him for granted all these years, LET them expect so much of him that now they feel ENTITLED to throw him away if he isn't doing what they expect him to do.

Clearly, confiding in his family wouldn't fix anything either...when the faith of his family was SO fragile that it hardly took one gust of wind to scatter them away...that is the real truth that was revealed this week.

Superb post AY

EDIT

I wrote a long essay and lost everything when i tried to post it...😭😭 I will write whatever I remember...

I cant stop marveling at the brilliant execution of this track...very crisp and tightly held script , superb direction and stupendous performances by the actors to deliver the mandate 👏👏👏

Such an apt title AY...Paying the price for responsibility...

Never had he thought he would lose control
Never had he thought he would be cornered so badly
never had he thought he would feel so helpless
never had he thought his pure intent would be misjudged
never had he thought he would have to pay such a heavy price for failing just once to protect his family...

He was shattered when he was accused for treason and was accused for shaking the foundation of the family, when he is the one responsible for helping the family stay united...

He was broken when he was accused of not fulfilling his commitment to fix the problem, when he has been attempting to find a solution to this mucky situation and facing mental and emotional pressures in the process

He was hurt when he was accused of being unfair to his brothers, when his entire life revolves around his brothers...

Shivaay can certainly be blamed for not sharing his problems..But thats what characterizes Shivaay. He is someone who will always absorb all the troubles and stresses to guard his family, which is the sole reason of his existence and priority in life...

One big reason he admires and takes great pride in Anika...she is the only person in his family who shares the same values. She is the only one who is emotionally independent and resilient. He knows that he has her by his side and that helps him gain his strength and that's how he replenishes his energy reserves...

Talking about individual performances...

NM was OUTSTANDING in every bit of the episode...

His shock at being asked to leave his house and his family..
His acceptance of his badi maa' command
HIm pleading to have a last glimpse of his bade papa
His interaction with Rudy - the range of emotions and expressions to show a sense of defeat, helplessness, frustration ,concern and his struggle to build confidence in his little brother

NA was amazing in showing her anguish when Shivaay continued to respect his badi maa and was determined to fulfil his promise completely disregarding his mothers pain...I really felt for her..

Lee did really well to show his insecurity and fear of losing his brother...His frustration and anger when his brother was getting crucified by his mother...

Again extremely proud of the makers and actors...👏👏

Thanks, Manisha! Aww I hate it when IF acts up and makes us lose all we type :((

LOVED your post! Especially the bits in bold...loved how you described why Shivaay takes pride in Anika and calls her his strength...she's a kindered spirit for him who actually understands where his fierce almost single minded protective instinct for his family comes from, even as she gives him timely reality checks whether he grumbles about them or not.

Word on Shivaay never thinking he'd have to pay THIS huge a price for letting down his family just once...the mirage of togetherness he's tried so hard to hold together all his life...somewhere he never thought it would blow back on him so terribly...but there it is.

This week has been a marvel and eye opening in that the IB team is CAPABLE of delivering such a crisp script and fab execution for the WHOLE week rather than a few good scenes here or there and yet we are fed fillers 90% of the time for reasons beyond our understanding😕😆

what an episode..
you summarized it all well...

I actually felt bad for pinky... she was so helpless today
on one hand she couldn't stop Janvi from blabbering shit and inner hate and on other hand her own son was willing to be scapegoat..

hate it or love it.. Pinky was just straight and right with all the facts:
be it thing that Svetlana was in their lives cox Tej paved her way into Oberoi Mansion or be it how Janvi was shown all the time drunk in early episodes and even committed suicide without thinking about her family for which she was mourning today!!

And Nakul Mehta nailed it..in all the scenes portraying a guy who became the 'Elder' of family when he was just so young.. Despite of having Tej and SHakti in house, He is the 'Neev' [foundation] of family..
one thing that came to my mind after seeing today's episode : if you serve yourself as a meal in someone else' platter; they would still complaint that you aren't tasty enough and could have been roasted better!!
you should heil the guy who serviced you for his whole f**king life and here you endedup kicking him out cox this time he wasnt capable of cleaning your shit..

and in the last but not the least: Mattoo was awesome.. this guy has proven how he can swing between the funniest scenes and most heart breaking scenes @IB: he was breaking yet keeping it together with the support of his brother.. he was just the best of himself.. Ru GREW UP today..

Thanks!

@bold: So.Much.Word...that's exactly what today was...you serve something on a platter to ppl all your life, they will still complain the one time the dish wasn't tasty enough and blast you for not roasting it properly...The selfishness and insecurity of Jhanvi really came to the fore through this turn of events...trying times bring out different sides in ppl...this is what came out of Jhanvi...a petty and ruthless mother who demanded her pound of flesh from the one person who has always been expected to get anything done in this family...and now he is the only one who must pay the price of failure too...as decreed by the Jhanvi court of "justice"😆

I also mainly felt bad for Pinky compared to Jhanvi...that was the real irony today...lol Pinky absolutely said the truth no matter how bitter it was...while Jhanvi who's claimed to be the fair and "classier" one compared to Pinky all these years proved that she's no less petty at the end of the day.

Ru is in the PROCESS of growing up I'd say...let's hope he gets there this time.

Jhanvi s selfish...bcoz of her obsession for tej ;Rudy n om were suffering in earlier episode...it s shivaay who take care of omru...it s evident dat shivaay s doing dis for a reason...d main problem of shivvay s he thinks he can handle all problem ...jhanvi has right 2 know d reason bcoz omrus life s involved in dis...bt d truth s she didn't consider shivaay as her own...she can punishh him in many way bt she ask him to go away from his family...

waqt chalta hi rehta hai rookta nahi ek pal me ye aage nikal jaata hai aadmi theek se dekh paata nahin aur parde pe manzar badal jaata hai

this is exactly what happened before he could process and react accordingly parde me manzar badal gaya

Very apt lines, Fary👏

that is the worst thing she was made to witness iss age main har family going all poof in front of her the fact that she was pushed too and no one realized unki umar ka bhi koi lihaaz nahi and her line really got to me about abhi toh billu ghar main hai toh yeh haal hai abhi toh he did not even step out imagine once he is out.

Word...that moment when they both pushed Daadi away and neither of them seemed much regretful about it either...it was quite a sad moment...I felt really bad for Daadi there too...and yes, it totally hit home for Shivaay there when she pointed out that he hasn't even left yet and already they are all splintering apart...it really gave pause to Shivaay seeing what his leaving will eventually bring

chote hone ka disadvantage nobody was allowing him to talk shivaay was trying to calm him down by constantly patting his shoulders and jhanvi wouldn't even let him open his mouth how much i felt for him and his helplessness too ke aap samjh nahi rahin but so good to see him still atleast raising his voice for his bhai I honestly just found it so NATURALLY done...Rudra's fierce protective instinct for Shivaay, him trying to get a word in, knowing his mother is being totally unreasonable...fearing that Shivaay will indeed follow through on such a crazy promise...all of that was just so palpably coming through

when he ended up folding his hands yeah man kal se ro rahi hoon they've given it such a nice buildup to it and shivaay ki voice his eyes he was dying a 1000 times inside . NM deserves so many awards just for this 👏 he really ahs set new standards and i cannot stop saying it Never have we seen Shivaay so humbled...kabhi aise haath jode honge usne kisi ke saamne? Even Anika who's humbled him many times, never reduced him to pleading in this utterly broken manner...his family brought him to this today...that is what was so heartbreaking to watch

ABSOLUTELY and they proved with this week of episodes why they are getting all accolades this year why they are the best show best actor and best actress i would add best ensemble bhi esp the senior oberois and NITIKA ANAND. that woman doesn't allow me to hate pinky even if want too & i seriously wish i could let each one of them know how BRILLIANT THEY ALL WERE esp, the names mentioned here NA absolutely deserves acknowledgement for her work as Pinky...she's been stupendous...even when Pinky went all psycho...but it's in these kinda moments where you see her ability to humanize Pinky against all odds...remarkable it is.

also want to end this with these lines for jhanvi

aankh dhoka hai kya bharosa hai suno dosto shak dosti ka dushman hai apne dil me ise ghar banane na do kal tadapna pade yaad me JinKi rok lo roothkar unko jaane na do baad me pyaar ke chahe bhejo hazaroon salaam woh phir nahi aate

watch out woman who knows what tomorrow holds? agar tumhara bada beta chala gaya woh bhi aise toh pata nahi tumhein waqt kya rang dikhaye. already tumhare karam tumhari beti bhi jhel rahi hai somewhere in USA

Karma is deffo coming soon for Jhanvi too, no doubt...she will repent eventually...whether or not she will LEARN from it...remains to be seen😆

She did call him dushman kitna Toh ro rahi hoon main ke I'm not being saga and that taunt however painful is a fact so I can try and digest ke she rubbed it in but calling him dushman was it

That was the moment I went no woman I have no sympathy for you whatsoever

And dushman bhi dekho khud ka haq hote hue inko apna ghar deke chala where if he really was dushman he would've told them to getour Since they Don't have any haq over any Oberoi properties or business fakeer bhi woh hue and jaa bhi dushman raha hai

Bhagwan aise dushman sabko de
