Hey AY. Another great review after the really great epi. Loved the epi to bits.
Pinky as a character unraveled today. But despite her deranged heinous action we still felt a smidgeon of pity for her & the credit for that goes to NAs portrayal. She was phenomenal in her act. Completely overshadowed everyone. IB has such a great cast. Wish their acting chops are given more floor by lekhikaji.
Pinky's character has come a full circle. She has gone back to the original character that we were introduced to.
She was introduced as a power & wealth hungry woman who loved to lord her son's achievements in front of the family & world in general. Until the time Shivaay's engagement with Tia was not fixed we saw her hating OmRu & competing with Tej over who has more power on the family.
Shivaay himself has admitted in his talk with Om in the initial epis that for his mother wealth & power that Shivaay brings is more important than Shivaay himself.
Then as IB's focus changed from initial premise of dysfunctional family to that of Rajshri sanskaari family, we saw Pinky's character changing & we forgot what was presented to the audience as the original character sketch. We might have been even miffed with Shivaay's sudden mother devotion after the way their relation was portrayed earlier & that's warranted. But we can't forget that Pinky herself showed changes which would make us question Shivaay's indifferent behavior wrt Pinky if he had remained the same. However let's not forget that this change came after Pinky got the confirmation that Shitia engagement will definitely happen & so would the 'always changing number of crores' deal with the Kapoor's go through.
Pinky left behind her hatred for OmRu & stopped fighting against Tej as to who will get the haq of being the family's acknowledged waaris. She felt that after Shitia's wedding & business merger with the Kapoor's Shivaay would naturally leave behind OmRu & Tej in terms of success. So she stopped her obnoxious behavior with them. Let's not forget that Shivaay's indifference towards her also changed as he saw her warmth towards OmRu increase. Though he is SSO but he is first & foremost a family man & seeing her changed attitude towards OmRu, Jhanvi & Dadi he too became more affectionate towards her. So Pinky scored brownie points with Shivaay due to her change in equation with OmRu. Also Anika's influence also made him more receptive to warm feelings without being doubtful about them.
Once Shivaay got married to Anika instead of Tia we saw the return of the earlier Pinky but audience didn't directly connect it with her initial character sketch as by then Pinky had already established as a loving but possessive mother. We thought that she is only insecure about her place in Shivaay's affections & hence acting out. But she really turned venomous towards OmRu after they helped Shivaay I'm getting Anika back to OM after the Lohri NDE. She again started with her OmRu want to destroy Shivaay & take his place jaap.
She also chose to believe Tia in her pregnancy drama rather than her son aa it suited her purpose of getting ahead in the power play of the family business. She still wanted the business merger to be finalised & hence supported Tia even when her son rejected the idea of the possibility of him being the father of Tia's child. She just used this as an opportunity to throw Anika out of his life & as a means to complete the business merger.
After the lohri NDE she saw the extent to which Shivaay cared for Anika. This raised her signals that her influence on Shivaay was at an end. So she used NKK card to oust Anika out of Shivaay's life. However Shivaay didn't allow her to do so. This scared her more & she flipped the NKK card on Anika instead. She knew that it would work with Anika as she had seen how much Anika loves Shivaay throughout their relationship. She not only lied about Shivaay being illegitimate, she painted her husband as an adulterer. Also she without any regret plotted with Kamini to get Prinku married to Ranveer. Though Prinku wanted that marriage has she louvvved that ACP god knows how but this didn't factor into Pinky's decision. She just used Prinku as a pawn for discrediting Anika. She succeeded in her attempt & again became content that again all is under her control.
But we all saw how much was really under her control in the after separation epis LOL. She couldn't even get Shivaay to talk to her politely. He became more distant, indifferent & ride towards her but that didn't faze her as Anika was out of the picture. Once Anika cake back she again started with her tricks by encouraging Ragini & trying to influence Shivaay in throwing out Anika once again. But this time it didn't work.
I am glad that finally Shivaay found out the truth & I am happy to see his disgust with Pinky in the precap. I for one don't want him to forgive Pinky ever as I don't believe that she did what she did for Shivaay's benefit or due to her insecurity about her place in his priority. She did all of it as she saw that her years of investment in Shivaay's building success was not eventually giving her the powerful position in the family & society that she had always craved. After all she actively started weaving her web against Anika when Shivaay gave the credit & the BOTY award to Anika & not her.
Hope that Anika doesn't become a mahaan SP bahu & convince Shivaay for forgiving Pinky. We all know that Anika is a softy when it comes to the matter of family members due to her own lack of family but we also know that she is a wild cat who fights for her loved ones. Be it against bandari bua for Sahil, against Shivaay for her self respect. The girl who loves Shivaay should surely not allow herself to forgive Pinky for hurting Shivaay by lying to his loved ones about his birth.
