Innika, my love, I am sorry that your post has been hijacked by the keyboard warriors. It's quite easy to be mean and spread negativity when you are behind a screen and not accountable for your actions. But maybe I shouldn't be surprised after the recent activities that have been going on here. That is the main reason I have stopped coming here as often.

Coming to your post, the way you analyse the characters and observe all the nuances, let me just say if I didn't already know what you chose as a career, your posts would point me in the right direction. You are that good. I love reading everything you pen down.

I'll be honest, I haven't connected to Bhavya or Gauri. That maybe because I never followed DBO, so I wasn't around for their inception and have no idea about their conflicts or growths. The little I know about DBO was that it was trying to dip its toe into the Sci-fi pool with Svet as the main attraction. With the merger, I feel like I have opened the book to a random page and started reading from there with no idea about the character, plot or story.

As far as the sisters plot is concerned, I think Gul might have forgotten about it. You see, Gul has a habit of stretching one big secret for the entire series. There is one plot that is central to the show which she has advertised since the beginning and she'd milk once the TRPs drop. That arc is the Vanvaas track. How the rift between the brothers is created, how one of them might leave the mansion with his better half and how all of them will be dealing with its aftermath was supposed to be the main selling point of the show after they made us fall in love with the brothers. So I am expecting that this track will not come into play anytime soon. Now as far as Annika and her lost sister are concerned, I swear I feel that Gul is just playing with us at this time. She starts with the track, spoon feeds us information and then she leaves it at that. Do you remember how Annika was afraid of the dark? So much so that she had nightmares about Chutki? When the kidnappers came to kidnap Pari and cut off the power supply of the mansion, she didn't even flinch no? Or did I miss something in that scene? All of these amendments and adaptations just mess with the characters and the stories and honestly, for me, break the fourth wall.

Another reason I am not expecting much from the track is because of past evidence. Do you remember Mahi? The broken, adorable character that we all fell in love with and made posts about? No? He looked liked Shivaay with black eyes? Played a mouth organ? Is it coming back to you? Well, Gul has clearly forgotten him. It was proved that Mahi and Shivaay are twins. Annika knows it. Omkara knows it. Rudra knows it. And none of them did a thing. With the way their characters were written, don't you think they should have made atleast some effort? I mean, Annika is all subservient in regards to Pinky because she never had a mother. Because she understands the importance of family. Well, Mahi is family as well. Omkara was written as a man who values honour about everything. The first three-four months the writers really drove home the point that he would choose truth above his family. I loved, loved his character. A man who was a poet, an artist and has the honour of a J.K. Rowling hero? Gimme more of that. But then they went ahead and completely butchered the track with the accident track when he kept quiet to save Prinku. And then his turning into this Shivaay type clone for all intents and purposes, it just killed his essence. He wasn't Om anymore. But still, I'd like to think he had the last vestiges of his honour that he wouldn't just forget about another brother. And Rudra, the guy hero worships his elder brothers. They are his idols. How he doesn't care that there is one more of them out in the world, suffering on the streets, abused since he was a child is a question I have stopped asking myself.

The reason for this long, long rant was to justify my zero hopes regarding Annika and her sisters track. Also, Innika, didn't they show Bhavya's sister calling her Bhavya didi? So if the Cvs do decide to merge the lost sister story of the two Oberoi bahus (are there no other tracks?), how will the get out of this mess? Or they'll just conveniently forget they showed something like this and expect us to do the same.

Also, I was borderline appalled that you had to put that disclaimer at the start of your post. The characters you are talking about are fictional. They are meant for public consumption. You are allowed to critique (which wasn't even what you were doing in the first place) a character. That doesn't make your love for them any less. People are also allowed to not agree with you. They are entitled to their own opinions. But this, this blind hero-worship where they whip anyone one who even dares to say a word against their 'faves', these knights on white horses running off to a war not taking place in the name of monarchs not ruling any dynasty, fighting soldiers with no weapons, well...its just pretty sad. The internet is a cesspool of trolls and negativity. Wade through it and you do you, my love.

Loved reading your thoughts, as always.

Much love,
Richa.

Richa! ❤️
It's been so long, woman! Where have you been? (More rants in PM, soon, I promise!) Anyways, I'm so happy to see you around the forum a bit more. But yes, it completely makes sense as to why you don't frequent it as much. That's the same for me and Ayesha as well - we try to stick to our own threads, and this is my first post in the MF in a month or so.
Aah, you're always too nice to me! Personally, I wish that you would write and post more as well, because I do miss reading your writing as well. Thank you also, you are my favourite! : D
That's completely fair, you know. I gave up on DBO very early on, and I haven't really looked back on that decision very early on. I typed Gauri as an ENFP/ENFJ - T once I saw her in the maha-episodes, but somehow, her characterisation seemed a bit flat. Everything that you would expect from the writers, really. As for Bhavya, the first time I saw her, I think I nearly gagged. The flying action sequences coupled with the crying damsel-in-distress thing just really put me off, not to mention the fact that I still miss Saumya so much. I think the only reason that I really looked at her differently was post-merger, when she asks the Comissioner to take her of her case because she couldn't do it anymore. Then he mentioned her family, and suddenly, she's back on task.
I don't know - I think she would have the potential to be a really beautiful, bittersweet character if she was written properly. She's moral, she's the voice of reason - but she's also a fighter, who is somehow weakened by the prospect of love. The contrast between her character and Rudra's idealism has potential, imo. Of course, with the CVs' track record, I expect that none of these plot points will ever come to fruition.
You have a point with Gul forgetting about tracks. She does that very often. As for the vanvaas track, like you said, that will only come when the writers run out of ideas completely. Personally, I won't be too upset if neither Gauri nor Bhavya turn out to be Chutki, as long as there is some closure on where Chutki is. I realise that in real life, Chutki would be dead, or lost forever - but you know that I'm an idealistic fool when it comes to stuff like this. Maybe its because I have a sister of my own, but the prospect of Annika never finding her sister breaks my heart. Like that is trauma that one could never advance from.
Even if Chutki is dead, I wish they would give closure to the track. God, even if they didn't show Chutki or mention her at all - I wish they would show some sort of repercussions for Annika. Maybe seeing sisters together somewhere might make her randomly upset, or make her resent the fact that her own is gone - anything that will hint that Chutki still haunts Annika. Its too much to ask from the writers, apparently.
The darkness thing can be explained, I guess. Phobias can be triggered in certain occasions, or situations. Nyctophobia is a natural, situational phobia that can often only be provoked when an individual is alone. It can be curbed sometimes, when someone is in a better mental place, or if they have any support system with them. Its true, but then again, in this case, I feel like its just tardiness on the CVs part.
Mahi breaks my heart. I can't believe that the character was shelved. For a show that celebrates brotherhood, the fact that a brother was just abandoned was so disappointing. To be honest, it was a stupid track to begin with - they should not have brought in a fourth brother. Anyhow, now that they did, I wish that they would just follow through with the plots that they started instead of bringing in 200 new ones. All of their reactions were so not aligned with their characters - for god's sake, OmRu didn't try to find their other brother. Are they running away? I don't understand.
I'm glad you got the rant out. My inbox always welcomes rants like this - hmu if you need to! As for Bhavya's sister/brother calling her Chutki, I heard about that post-making this post. In reality, its only a mild discretion. We all know the writers may conveniently forget to follow through with certain plot points - you can't put it past them. I just wish the sister track was a thing because the show really needs a bit more to it than meaningless romance.
As for the bashing, its sickening. Even the disclaimer did nothing, and so now, I don't know what will. Fandoms are so very defensive about their characters which is annoying, but tolerable. But like a few people already said, I just feel like they just want to pick fights to show their superiority. Which is absolutely insane. The character glorification is so frustrating - you can only justify a character to a certain extent. When it gets past that, and you can't see any criticism on them - that's weird, and borderline obsessive. So done with negativity on this forum.
Anyways, glad to hear from you again!
Love and hugs ❤️

I guess it doesn't really matter. The writers pick and change tracks to suit their convenience, so whatever they've said initially rarely matters. Shivaay's birthday, and age has changed multiple times throughout the course of the show. Like you said, the inconsistent writing on the show will always be a negative - I feel like the CVs barely respect the characters that they create.
I think thats's quite universal about this PH's shows. People look deeper into their shows, than they do themselves. I feel like all the women are terribly written - with an intelligent premise, and a disastrous follow-through. TRP constraints, really.
Yup, to each his own! But I do really appreciate the fact that you kept this conversation mature and polite all the way through - which is more than what can be said for the majority of replies on this thread!

I remember Shivaay's birthday being scrapped because of the massive trolling on twitter from the fans. Consistency isn't their strongest point lol. I find the concepts of all the former and present female leads interesting, but its a shame their characters aren't written better. Sadly, for Gul and her team the female leads seem to be an afterthought. The premise of the dysfunctional family at the beginning of the show was also promising, but TRPs ruined that as well.

No problem and its does tend to get a little crazy on the forum lol.

great analysis ! I like Surbhi and Shrenu as actress..n initialy rooting them as sisters after MS episodes. But after your analysis it makes more sense Surbhi n Bhavya being sisters that doesn't mean Shrenu will get lesser deal..anyway for Gul FL's are afterthoughts only so doesn't make any difference in overall bigger picture. To add on I think it will be innovative if they show Bhavya being elder sister it will add uniqueness in Ruvya love story n also to Shivika's w/ little bigger age difference. #nayasoch

I said it for generally.. Not for you.. This is some other people in this thread.. They made a certain comment so I forced to post this comment..
Ps : this chutki track yet to come.. I want to say something.now this forum is not only for one couple.. Two couples fans also visiting here.. Ur posts have valid points.. u like bhavya and Anika as sis that is ur choice. many people also loves this Jodi but u don't want to mention Gauri in ur post.. Because u no that so many Gauri fans here and also many of them loves anri Jodi too. So they want them as sis.. So this comparison only create war.. Yet cv's didn't confirmed chutki is her sister.. If someone made a comparison between Anika and other FL..same fan war can except.. Now even a simple point will turn bashing in this forum..

Innikaa! Just saw this and my god how did such a careful and articulately written analysis turn into a battleground? It's like some of these fans are just waiting to make this into a X vs Y thing when it's clearly written that it is not the case!!

And it's a shame since you have such a beautiful way with words darling! I honestly hope you are thinking about writing more...despite this particular turnout.

You already know my stance on the couples better than almost anyone else here so I am not going to get into it! But hope you aren't too tormented from these scars 😆

Love xx

Too bad that they chose your post. Please keep writing and posting obviously we outnumber the shrill minority. Peace (lol)
