I see the question being raised of Shivaay not knowing the REAL Anika...and apparently the REAL Anika is only that one who has now returned to OM with extra tadi to thaw Shivaay out from his apathetic state...lol...I don't really agree with this...

Just like Shivaay is made up of those many sau rangi shades that Anika once mentioned in awe, those shades that make her marvel as she discovers them, so is she...and he's known pretty much all her shades...from the wackiest to the most vulnerable...he's seen her at her strongest and at her most broken...he himself has broken her a couple of times and he's seen her rise in RESILIENCE each time...so no, there is no "real" Anika that has magically arisen only NOW for Shivaay to know...he's always known her.

"Real" Anika isn't the one that suddenly exits OM and stops wearing sindoor/MS...lol that doesn't magically make her "real"...the token attempts at independence that the writers throw in like her searching for a job never amount to anything so I'm not even going to go there...this is as 'real' as it's gonna get...lol...her independence shows in her other thought processes, not from what she's wearing (despite what madam creator likes to tout). Real Anika is also NOT the one who behaves in an extra ruthless manner to get a reaction out of Shivaay...that's just all nautanki, a facade.

So the problem isn't that Shivaay never knew the real Anika...the problem is that he hasn't scratched beyond the present...he knows her vulnerabilities and her fears but he doesn't know the reasons for them...

Frankly, both Shivaay and Anika have the capacity to CONSTANTLY surprise each other...lol even after having lived through a lot together...Shivaay especially feels she can do anything at any time...he's almost wary of her ability to do that...lol while Anika for her part is also surprised both pleasantly and unpleasantly by him sometimes...but then isn't that the whole reason this is supposed to be a journey? *hint hint - Jungle track convo*

There is no "real' Shivaay or Anika left for them to discover...but there are plenty of shades to discover along this lifelong journey they have together...those shades are a part and parcel of life and the circumstances that will come their way...otherwise they have a pretty good handle on each other's basic personalities...cuz in many ways they are kindered spirits...more similar than they realize...I'm reminded of their convo in the bread and green tea scene...where they marvel over their similarities and differences together.

I completely agree with you. I don't understand where people are getting the idea that this real Anika when half the time she is acting to get shivaay's reaction. I agree both shivaay and Anika have multiple shades and even facades and that's what makes them 'real'. People change with time and experience; so why shouldn't something like marriage have changed or impacted Anika, and to me it never looked like she became weaker or subservient. I think both post marriage became mellower and vulnerable and that was the beauty of thier relationship.

Beautiful post.

I really dont get how has shivaay insulted Anika in the video scene. According to me people are missing the cue on which shivaay reacted. Ragini hits the spot .. 'tum shivaay ki jagah ku bol rahi ho?' That is where shivaay asks anika to stop talking. Shivaay is hurt and is despertely trying to prove his 'farq nahi padta' stance, and when ragini mentions anika , shivaay gets startled and realizes how he is still letting anika speak like 'his wife' that is where he reacts. Before that anika answered ragini and he didnt interrupt, and how beautiful is the precap. A justification from shivaay? What else kind of respect do we expect from a man who thinks he was betrayed by a woman and still goes and clarifies to her?

Now coming to ur second post of real anika! I so totally agree ! I dont understand how is the post time lapse anika real? She was real all along, she never lost her touch, and everything that she is doing now is a deliveate effort to irk shivaay so he goes to his tadibaaz phase again.

Word...at the end of the day, they and only they have the power to make and unmake each other...that is what they are discovering in this relationship...what it feels like to be truly deeply vulnerable for the first time in your life...they aren't DEMANDING that vulnerability from each other...it's a byproduct of two very strong personalities learning to co-exist...they soften each other's sharper edges with their love...and that softening makes them vulnerable in both good and not so good ways.

Thank you, Fantasia :) Didn't know you were watching this show too...we've spoken once before in the ADHM review thread, right? 😆

@bold: Exactly...the issue at hand here is the natural HAQ that Shivika have always felt on each other...they invariably fall into these patterns always cuz that is their natural, comfort zone...they feel a right over each other since before they were even married...it only got magnified after marriage since they had a technical name to give to that relationship and hence a justification for that right over each other...so now it gets the title of pati wala haq ya biwi wala haq...but IMO it was just always haq, period since the beginning.

In this specific situation, as you rightly pointed out...Shivaay was not interrupting at all as Anika was saying her piece in his defense...it was only when Ragini pointed out the obvious that Anika is speaking FOR him as if she has the RIGHT to do so that he stopped the argument...the premise of his fake engagement is already pretty flimsy...lol he keeps slipping up and inevitably falling into the same patterns with Anika...perhaps he didn't want to make it that obvious also how he's comfortable with her in that role.

Also, somewhere yes it's a part of his personality that he likes to speak up for himself...doesn't want someone to speak for him.

And completely agree with you about the precap...what more respect can you give a person when you give them that regard of wanting to clarify something they didn't even demand a clarification for. He is clarifying to a woman who, as you said, he still thinks betrayed him and let him down so badly...if that doesn't show the love and regard he has for her, what else will.

I really don't get the argument that him "shouting" at her in public means he's stoking her insecurities and doesn't respect her😕😆...LOL he's clearly a flawed individual and definitely needs to work on his anger issues but this isn't a TOXIC relationship, people...the likes of which you will otherwise find aPLENTY on TV...for ONCE this is a relationship with both individuals not taking a free license with their flaws...the fact that Shivaay shows genuine and near instant regret for when he says too much anger...the fact that even Anika realizes sometimes that she mistimed something or over-reacted...these are important things beyond the typical saas-bahu drama crap...these are personality conflicts that are anyday more interesting to watch than other contrived drama...these conflicts make them human and more realistic to watch.

Brilliant insight into the Shivika relationship there. And I agree, both have made some serious mistakes, though nothing that a heart- to heart conversation can't fix. They need to communicate, but then, we'd have no show I guess.
This constant one-upmanship between the fans of Shivaay and Annika's characters I really do not get.

Keep writing and analyzing! It's much appreciated! 😊

Haven't commented in a while but had to drop in here :)

I think the way Shivaay's character was evolved post marriage was one of the best arcs in the show BY FAR and I would love it if we can get something like that for Anika. It would strengthen their bond even more cuz then they would get to see the best and worst in each other and figure out HOW they can live with their better half despite their faults and flaws and HELP the other person become a better person and overcome their limitations. Their relationship does not need a name, so you don't need to keep figuring out what to call it.😆 They set the rules and they play by them and when they mess up, they both pick up the pieces. There's something so earthy and real about that kind of relationship which I can't quite put into words. Haven't seen it done on Indian TV for sure (on the shows I've watched anyway).

Who really wants to watch perfect couples with no flaws being so perfect and helping out other people in their family all day and soaking up each other's perfect-ness. There's no learning curve there, it's all just one flat line that goes on forever.

I used to really struggle to relate to Anika before a LOT, cuz she didn't have many real flaws and was the typical goody-two shoes female lead and Billu was made really grey to counterbalance that.😆 I don't really enjoy stories like that where the FL 'transforms' the ML with her goodness and virtue. I think it should be a two way street where both learn from each other. So I'm happy now that both of them are flawed and make mistakes. Another thing that I like about them that there has never been any real third party antagonist in their story (Tia, Ragini and others don't count in my book). They both are the real antagonists in their own love story and I like that.

And both have one flaw which I can personally relate to, being stubborn^tiffany and struggling to admit to having made mistakes (even though you know that you messed up). Gosh, can relate to that a lot cuz I hate confronting people (words don't seem to come out lol) and also cuz of excessive pride lol😛 Also really struggle with giving people a chance to explain themselves just like Billu just cuz I know that if I give a chance, I fear that I'll end up forgiving them really easily without letting them make up for what they did first and they'll walk all over me. So I can really relate here...excessive pride is not miscible with vulnerability.😆 The end result is a LOT of awkwardness and words you want to say but cannot seem to get out.
