Omkara rushed towards Cabin 405 and only stopped running when he reached there. He put his hand on the glass door to push it when his eyes fell on the person lying inside the room. From afar it looked like Gauri was just in deep sleep and would wake up the moment Omkara would call her. How could someone look so calm, innocent and beautiful even while fighting with death. To Omkara Gauri looked like the fairytale princess who was waiting for her prince to break the curse of sleep. A sleeping beauty.
Omkara pushed the door and stepped inside the room. He slowly tip toed upto the bed where Gauri lay. With every step he took Omkara understood the clear difference between reality and fairytales. The rosy hue of his princess's skin was still in an ugly shade of yellow. Her once pink lips still had a bluish hue. She had dark circles around her eyes.
Omkara noticed that she looked pale and skinnier. The hollow of her cheekbones was cleary visible. Hadn't she been eating properly? Omkara thought. She did not look relaxed at all. She looked fatigued . The pain she had gone through was evident on her face. Her forehead was creased.
This hit Omkara pretty badly. He had been so occupied in inflicting pain to her that he had not noticed that her health was degrading.
Omkara with shaking hands touched Gauri's forehead trying to ease out those lines. He never even in his worst nightmare had imagined that one day he would see Gauri so lifeless.
Lately, he only fought with Gauri because he wanted to. He hated to admit but he had gotten addicted to her incessant chirping. He was driven by the urge to fight with her everyday. Not hearing her voice for even a few hours made him feel deaf. It was not hate. Hate was only the excuse Omkara gave to himself. That was just the driving force for the fight. The actual reason was something different. Something that Omkara knew he still had to comprehend.
The result of any addiction is bad. And his addiction had led to a disaster. Staying near Gauri and not hearing her talk. The experience was almost alien to Omkara. He took her soft palm between his hands. The IV pricking through her skin had left a bruise.
Bohot dard ho raha hoga na? Omkara finally spoke.
I know you hate hospitals. Last time jab Aunty ko dekhne gayi thi, doctor injection unhe de raha tha aur tumne muh aisa banaya jaise tumhe injection laga ho. Omkara chuckled dryly.
Waise toh bohot chappad chappad karti rehti ho..main dabangg Gauri hu...sab mujhse darte hain...aur tum khud ek injection se darr gayi?? Badi darpok nikli tumtoh. Waise logo ko darane mein bhi mahir ho tum. Aaj subah meri jaan nikal di thi tumne. Mujhe pareshan karke itna sukoon milta hain? Meri gadi par bull dozer chala diya, woh orange wali candy mere sir par de maari.Mujhse shaadi bhi karli. Waise Janlewa tip haain bhai tumhara har baar nishane pe..
Areee tarif pe tarif kar raha hu tumhari, tum phir bhi chup ho? Omkara jerked her a little.
Zyaada bhao kha rahi ho na? Dekho ab itna ghamand bhi thik nahi hain haan. Kuch bolo bhi!!
Omkara shook her again.
Please Gauri!!Please kuch bolo. Ab itna bhi kya gussa? Mujhe pata hain maine bohot dukh diya tumhe. Bar bar blame karta raha bina sacchai jaane. Bohot galtiya ki hain maine. Bas yeh akhri baar maaf kardo na. Aisi batsalukhi main phir kabhi nahi karunga. I promise. Tumhare woh Shankarji ki kasam hain.
Please Gauri ab toh uth jao...please...please.
Omkara kept on chanting please as he broke down into silent sobs. Seeing Gauri in so much pain wrenched his heart. Her silence made him feel deaf. Watching her lay on the bed, immobile, made him feel paralysed.
Mujhe kuch samajh nahi aa raha Gauri. Main kya karu tumhe wapas la ne ke liye. Is baar toh tum bhi nahi ho Chulbul banke meri maddat karne ke liye. Maine bhabi se wada kiya hain Gauri. Woh mujhse bohot gussa hain. Woh sahi hain I know. Tum sirf issiliye chup ho na kyuki tum mujhe saza dena chahti ho? Jitni marzi saza do mujhe Gauri par bhabi ko toh mat rulaao. Sabki halat janti ho tum bahar? Sab bohot pareshan hain Gauri. Aachha main nehi hu ek accha pati. Bohut bura hu main. Par tum toh acchi ho na...phir kyun unhe saza de rahi ho? Please Gauri kuch toh bolo. Please.
Omkara got up and hugged Gauri. Tears rolled down his face, wetting Gauri's hospital gown.
Sir aap please haat jaiye humein madam ko injection de na hain. The nurses voice broke Omkara's trance. He slowly left Gauri and moved back wiping his tears.
The nurse came forward to inject the medicine in Gauri. As soon as the needle pricked Gauri's skin, a sudden pain shot up Omkara's chest. It felt like someone had stabbed him He immediately looked away.
The nurse did her job and was about to go away when Omkara called her.
Mujhe doctor se milna hain.
Woh sir, doctor toh abhi thode busy hain shayad. The nurse fumbled a little. She had earlier witnessed Omkara's wrath and was in no mood to be on the receiving end.
I DON'T CARE!! Bellowed Omkara. His eyes fell on Gauri. Omkara stopped shouting abruptly.
Mujhe Doctor se abhi ke abhi milna hain. This time he half wispered as if he was scared to break Gauri's sleep.
The nurse quickly moved out of the room to call the doctor.
Omkara went and sat beside Gauri.
I know how much you hate hospitals. Main jald se jald tumhe yahanse ghar leke jaunga. Ghar pe tum zyaada jaldi thik ho jaogi mujhe pata hain. Omkara smiled at her.
The doctor came in almost immediately.
Ji sir aapne bulaya? The condition of the doctor was terrible. He was shaking with fear when he approached Omkara. This almost made Omkara laugh.
Aap ko chot toh nahi aayi? Omkara asked him.
Ji Sir??? The doctor asked again astonished by the question.
Maine pucha aap thik hain?
Ha...haan sir. The doctor stammered.
Toh phir thik hain aap mujhe yeh bataiye ke Gauri ko kya mein kal ghar leke ja sakta hu?
The doctor looked at Omkara with a weird expression as if he had grown horns.
Sir. Madam ki jaisi halat hain..she needs proper attention and extensive medical care. Unhe hospital mein rakhna hi thik hoga. With all necessary equipments and staff.
Aur agar mein yeh sare intezam apne ghar pe karu toh?
The doctor again looked at Omkara. This time seriously confused and surprised.
Sir par woh kaise...
Aap shayad bhul rahe hain doctor mein Omkara Singh Oberoi hu. Kya Kaise yeh sab app nehi samjhe toh bhi chalega. Just prepare a board of best doctors and staff for my wife. Aur unhe kal ghar le jaane ka saara intezam kariye.
Ji sir. The doctor quietly left the room.

For the first time Omkara had used the power of his family name. He was not ashamed of it. Though it went against his initial ethics, Omkara was ready to bend any rule for Gauri.
Main abhi aaya Gauri.
He placed a soft kiss on her forehead trying to transfer some of his care through it. Omkara did not feel weird. At that moment it felt like nothing could me more right than that affectionate kiss.

Omkara swiftly went towards the lobby to find Shivaay. He found him talking to the doctor.
On seeing Omkara, Shivaay excused himself from the doctor and came towards him.
Yeh main kya sun raha hu Om. Tu Gauri ko ghar le jana chahta hain? Tujhe pata hain na uski condition kitni critical hain. Shivaay asked pretty infuriated at his brother's rash decision.
Shivaay baat ko samjho. Ghar pe mai hu,tum ho,bhabi hain. Gauri ka kheyal rakhne ke liye saare gharwale hain. Yahan uski security ka kya Shivaay? Swetlana ek baar vaar kar chuki hain. What if she strikes again? Isbaar main nahi chahta Gauri ko aur kuch bhi ho. Hum sab ke beech she'll be safer. Main ab use mere nazron ke samne se kahi jaani nahi dunga. Ek galti dusri baar main nahi karunga.I can't afford to lose her Shivaay.
Par tum ek baar humse pooch toh lete...
Omkara interrupted Shivaay.
Gauri meri patni hain Shivaay. Woh meri zimmedari hain. Ajtak main us zimmedari se door bhagta raha. Ab aur nahi. Gauri ki security ko leke I won't listen to anyone. I am sorry but not even you.
The determination in Omkara's voice made Shivaay understand that it was useless to talk to him about Gauri's matter anymore.
Main Mom aur Bua Maa ko lekar ghar ja raha hu. Tum please yahan sambhal lena Shivaay. Main jaldi wapas aaunga. Omkara requested.

Oberoi mansion:
Rudra..Rudy kahan hain tu? Omkara shouted as he entered the mansion.
Rudra came sprinting down the stairs.
Haan bro boliye. He said
Omkara noticed the ointment on Rudra's lips. He felt bad for raising his hand on his younger brother.
I am sorry Rudy. Mujhe tujh par haath nahi uthana chahiye tha. Par I lost control. Sorry. Omkara apologised.
Are bro. Aap sorry maat bolo. Apki condition mujhe samajh mein aa raha hain. Aur waise bhi Rudy boy ko...
Rudra's words were interrupted by a booming voice.
Aagaya mera honhaar beta.
It was Tej Singh Oberoi.
I am so proud of you my son. Aaj tumne dikha diya ki tum mere bete ho. Aajtak tum mujhse nafrat karte rahe because of your Mom but I am glad ki finally tumhe shaadi aur commitment ka bojh samajh mein aaya and you threw that slum dwelling girl out of my house and your life.
Tej was clearly intoxicated.
Aaj you proved ki tumhare nasso main mera khoon hain. Tej came forward to hug Omkara but he was pushed away.
MERA BETA TUMHARE JAISA NAHI HAIN TEJ!! It was Jhanvi.
Uski nasso mein khoon tumhara hoga par sanskaar mere hain. Mera beta kabhi kisi aurat ko nicha nehi dikhata. Use maine sirf aurto ka samman karna sikhaya hain. He is not an abuser like you are.!! Jhanvi exclaimed.
But Omkara had turned deaf to her words. His father's words rang loudly in his mind. Wasn't he just like him? He had thrown out Gauri from their room on the first night. He might not have tortured her physically but weren't his words enough for mental torture? He was the one responsible for her current condition. He had broken her heart so many times. He had broken that girl down emotionally to the extent that now she was just a living corpse.
Omkara paced up to his room and smashed down the first thing that came near his hand. He had to let his frustration out and thus an expensive show piece lay shattered into pieces.
Omkara sat on the couch and covered his face with his palms. He had involuntarily turned into the person he hated the most in the world. His father.
Woh sahi haain. Main unke jaisa hi hu. I am a monster. A killer. An abuser. Omkara sobbed in self realisation.
I am his son!!!!
No bro...aap unke bete ho but you r not like him. Rudra had coming running after his troubled brother.
Tu yeh kaise keh raha hain Rudra. Tune dekha na Gauri ki halat. I almost killed her just like that man had tried to kill my Mom. Omkara cried in despair.
Nahi bhai. Un mein aur aapmein bohot fark hain. Aapko aapne kiye pe pachtawa hain. You are guilty. Yeh guilt prove karta gain ke aapke pass abhi bhi dil hain and that heart makes you a human. Not a monster bro. Never a monster.
Omkara hugged Rudra.
Rudra patted his back softly.
Aapko pata hain bro aapki problem kya hain? Apka gussa. Ek galat fehmi ne apko itna gussa dila diya ki aap apna thinking powerl kho baithe. Gusse ki aag sirf dusro ko nahi jalata bhai. Insaan khud bhi us aag mein jalta hain. Is aag se roshni banao bro. Ghar mat jalaya karo.
Omkara looked at his younger brother surprised. That little reckless Rudra had grown up to be such a thoughful man.
Pata hain bada ho gaya hain. Toh kya aapne bade bhai ko bhi gyaan dega. Omkara half smiled.
Kya karu bro aap dono se hi toh sikha hain. Rudra laughed and so did Omkara.
But the laugh did not reach his eyes. Instead Omkara's eyes were lit up with a new kind of fire. A fire of determination not only to bring Gauri back but also to show the world that he was nothing like his father.
Kyuki ek baar jo Omkara Singh Oberoi ne Commitment kardi toh woh apne aap ki bhi nahi sunta.

Hi. This is the fifth shot. I hope you are liking the progress.

Shot 6:

Bro waise aap Mom aur Bua maa ko lekar ghar pe kya kar rahe ho? Rudra asked.

Are who Gauri kal hospital se wapas aa rahi hain isiliye thode preparations karne the. Omkara replied.

Chulbul bhabi wapas aa rahi hain? Hosh aa gaya unhe? Rudra sounded excited.

Nahi teri bhabi ko hosh nahi aaya. Omkara said with a heavy heart.

Toh phir?...

Omkara explained the whole situation to his younger sibling.

Yeh toh aapne bohot accha kiya bro. Bhabi ghar pe rahegi toh dekhna main jhaat se unhe thik kar dunga. Rudra replied.

Aur who kaise karega tu? Omkara enquired.

Areee bro Rudy boy ke charm se acchi acchi ladkia flat ho jati hain. Bhabi ko toh bas uthana hain. Rudra smirked.

Omkara glared at his brother.

Teri toh...ruk.

Areee bhai gussa kyun hote ho? Main Mom ko bulake lata hu. Rudra ran out of the room.

Pagal hain pura ka pura. Omkara smiled as he watched his brother run away.

Aur yeh tumhare sangat ka asar hain. Omkara said picking up Gauri's picture from the bedside table.

Bigaad ke rakh diya mere nalayak bhai ko. Chamcha ban chuka hain tumhara. Omkara laughed.

Jhanvi was standing near the doorway when she heard her son laugh. This was something so new to her. Omkara never shared his pain but as a mother Jhanvi knew that all his laughs since childhood were mostly fake. Today watching her son laugh truly and freely made her heart fill with joy. She knew what was this laugh for and she wished that Gauri came back soon. She had changed her son. She was the reason why her son was finally happy.

Praying to the Almighty for her son's and daughter-in-law's happiness and health Jhanvi entered the room.

Om tum ne mujhe bulaya? She asked.

Omkara turned around, a smile still lighting up his weary face.

Haan Mom. Mujhe Gauri ke yahan rehne ki pura intezaam karwana hain. She should not have any problem when she comes back. Jab tak who thik nahi ho jaati uska pura treatment issi ghar mein hoga. Omkara said in an authoritative voice.

Thik hain beta, main niche wala guest room khulwa kar saaf karwa ke rakhti hu. Jhanvi started going outside to prepare for Gauri's arrival.

Nahi Mom Gauri issi kamre mein rahegi. Omkara called his mother back.

Jhanvi was surprised.

Par beta is room mein kaise?

Mom Gauri isi room mein mere pass rahegi. Aap bas is room ka thoda sa renovation karne ka intezam ki jiye. Zyaada kuch nehi. Aap, mein, Rudra aur Bua Maa milke kamre ko thoda saaf karenge aur sajayenge bas.

Beta tumhe yeh sab karne ki kya zaroorat. Mein manager ko bol deti hu woh sab karwa denge. Jhanvi said to her son.

No Mom. Gauri ke liye mein sab kuch khud karna chahta hu. Aapne haatho se yeh karma sajakar use welcome karunga. Bas aap log thodi maddad kar dete toh accha hota. Omkara was determined to everything by himself for his wife.

Jhanvi was happier than she could ever express. Her son had finally started showing emotions. Finally he was opening up to people. He had started caring for someone who was not his family by birth. Her son was changing again and this time for the better.

Okay beta. Main abhi sab ko bulake lati hu. Jhanvi went away to inform others.

Omkara immediately started his work without waiting for others. First was the wardrobe. He took out Gauri's dresses one by one and arranged them back in proper colour sequence. He adjusted the stuffs carelessly lying around on the dressing table. Gauri's bangles, earrings and other trinkets. Suddenly something silver caught his attention. It was Gauri's vermillion box. Omkara picked up the small box. He could vividly remember how every morning after showering Gauri sat in front of the dressing table with her wet hair sprawled all over her face and back. Small droplets of water still falling through, wetting her suit a bit near her shoulder. She never seemed to notice. She would sit in front of the mirror, wear her mangalsutra, add a pinch of vermillion on her forehead like a sacred ritual and then walk away slowly without making any noise. She would always be careful enough not to wake up Omkara. But little did she know that every morning Omkara lay wide awake just pretending to sleep so that he could see his wife adorn herself everyday. It was Omkara's secret ritual that had started just on the morning after their second marriage and had continued from then, ever so silently.

Omkara put the box down in its place and busied himself in work again. He knew it was not the time to recollect memories and get emotional. He had to be strong for her, for himself.

As soon as Rudra and the others entered the room, Omkara started ordering them.

Rudra mere bed aur couch ke grey pillow covers nikal ke naaye colourful wale laga dena.

Mom aap bedsheet change karke kuch floral waale laga dijiye.

Buaa maa aap store room se who silver vase leke aayengi please?

Omkara went on and on ordering them to do stuff and working himself too. In two hours the room had totally been transformed. Not only Rudra, Jhanvi and Buaa Maa but also Omkara himself could not recognize the room. The dull grey-black-white room was decorated with an array of colours. From bedsheets to curtains everything was vibrant and colourful. The bedside table was decorated beautifully with a silver vase and a variety of different coloured roses. The room looked like an artist's canvas.

The only thing Omkara could not change was the wall colours so he covered most of the walls with his paintings. Only one white wall was left untouched.

Bro us wall ka kya karna hain. Rudra asked. He was panting hard. Omkara had made him do so much work that he would have to forget his gym for a week or so.

Woh dewaar Gauri jab thik ho jayegi then woh khud decorate karegi. Omkara replied.

Bhabi aur kya sajyenge bhai yeh karma toh unke jaisa hi lag raha hain. Rudra joked.

It was true. The room looked like Gauri's reflection. Colourful, bright and cheerful. Something that brought joy to anyone who came in close contact with it.

Wo...who toh bas isiliye kyuki Gauri ko colours pasand hain. Omkara fumbled as his cheeks heated up when he realized that his brother had understood his intentions.

Thik hi hain. Bhabi ke sangat mein aake aap bhi rangeele hote ja rahe ho. Rudra teased his brother and winked at him.

Mom I am getting late. Mujhe Gauri ke paas jana hain. Mein waha jaake Shivaay aur bhabi ko wapas bhej dunga. Omkara decided to ignore his brother this time.

Par Om tumne subah se kuch khaya nehi hain. Have something and then go. Jhanvi said.

Mom aap tension maat lo. Mein hospital mein kuch kha lunga. Saying this Omkara rushed out again to be near his best friend cum wife.

*************************************************************************************

The next day:

Omkara had stayed back at the hospital for the whole night. He sent Anika and Shivaay back but had himself refused to leave Gauri's side. Anika had vehemently opposed the proposition and demanded to stay beside her sister. She had later half heartedly complied to Shivvay's repeated requests but before leaving the hospital had WARNED Omkara of the dire consequences if something happened to her sister.

The next morning Omkara had started throwing tantrums from the daybreak. He had refused to leave Gauri's side and had to be pushed out of the cabin by some male nurses as it was time for Gauri's check up.

Shivaay was surprised and irritated at his brother's childish antics. Out of them three Omkara was supposedly the most calm and rational one but his antics in the hospital proved just the opposite.

Omkara had been continuously pestering the doctors about when his wife would be discharged and had shouted once at the receptionist threatening her to sue the entire hospital because of the delayed process.

OMKARA SHUT UP!!!! Shivaay shouted not being able to take in any more.

Even he was tensed but it seemed like Om had gone crazy.

Shivaaay tum samajh nahi rahe. They are not discharging her on purpose. These people are so lazy Shivaay. Agar inki la parwahi ki wajase gauri ko kuch ho gaya toh...

GAURI KO KUCH HO NA HO OM IF YOU DON'T SHUT UP I WILL NOT LET YOU MEET HER EVER!!!!

Shuvaay's warning did the job. For the rest of the time Omkara quietly sat near Gauri's bed murmuring something in her ears. Most probably complaining about the hospital and Shivaay.

When time had finally come for Gauri's discharge the whole hospital and Shivaay sighed in relief.

Hi this is the 6th part. I am planning to complete this story in 10 parts so don't worry Gauri will wake up soon enough. This story is mainly about Omkara's repentance and the realization of his love for Gauri. I hope you are liking it.
