Lack of NKK Acceptance Now as Opposed to Acceptance Later (edited )

PART 1: ANNIKA

Let's start with Annika's reaction to being announced as Mrs. Annika Shivvay Singh Oberoi

I think it is mere caution on her part. A defense against the hurt that is to come for the day she will no longer be known as Mrs. Annika Shivvay Singh Oberoi, which she knows is a strong and real possibility in the near future. That day she goes back to being 'Just Annika' not his wife.

So common sense dictates that, it is better for her from the very start, to keep it as uncomplicated as possible to avoid any further hurdles for when the smooth transition is needed where she merely disappears from his life. Like it never happened and she never existed.

It is better for her and her aching heart that she sticks to reality. She had not planned to fall in love but to her dismay it happened but she can at least prevent and shield it against the disappointment and heartbreak.

(Sigh!!! My chest hurts just writing this. That is why I never dissect Annika as often as I do Shivvay. It is way too painful. That girl pulls so hard and strong at my heartstrings that I just want to whisk her away and hide her in the highest room of the tallest tower, while I stand guard and breathe fire and brimstone at anyone who dares trespass. I wonder if that is how Shivvay feels??!! I know Om and Rudy do for sure.)

ANNIKA: "I always have and always will look after myself. I have picked myself up when I have fallen, nursed my own wounds, learned from my own mistakes and essentially never depended on anyone to bail me out of situations. I do not require anyone's support. I am who I am - I AM ANNIKA"

This whole attitude towards life is what makes Shivvay want to protect her even more. She unknowingly reveals her most vulnerable self when she puts on her bravest face. Who would not want to 'launch a 1000 ships' for this incredible and amazingly childlike woman?

That is who Shivvay loves - the Annika' she is. She is not a shadow of her parents, an image of her mother, a copy of her father or an off shoot of a sibling. She is unique in that respect because that is who she is - herself. Not a copy, image or product of someone else. This is why he flatters himself so often calling her his Copy Cat'. The original thing, the 'Real McCoy' wants to be HIM. Imitating him would be the 'Ultimate form of flattery'.

As she walked up to the dais, her smile was wistful. It was as if she were experiencing a dream. The dream she thought would never become a reality (the night he announced Tia as his wife not her).

She was so caught up in gathering her fleeting happiness and storing it in her heart that for the first time she did not care about walking past Pinky or wondering what she would have felt to Shivvay's declaration of His Wife being the reason he was receiving this award today.

I am sure Annika feels the wheels of destiny turning sub-consciously and can feel the winds of change just by the way Pinky is reacting. She knows her time with Shivvay is like sand in an hour glass. This Fairytale is not going to have a 'Happy Ever After..." as far as she understands.
She knows Pinky will always have her son - while Annika will only have her 'memories and moments' spent with her husband to live with for the rest of her life. Shivvay will never leave his Family, Naam, Khoon and Khandaan so the odds of her being long term' in his life are very slim.

SIRF ANNIKA:

'Sirf Annika' and the 'out of character wali baath' was to reinstate that I will never ever be Mrs. Annika Shivvay Singh Oberoi in the true sense of the word (his non declaration of what he feels even though she sees it in his eyes) because you will never say those words to me till you see a future with me without the NKK to move it forward. Hence let me be who I really am to you, me and the world at large. JUST ANNIKA. Let us just enjoy what we are blessed with now and not worry about the fact of whether I really am Annika Shivvay Singh Oberoi or not because I know I never will be since I cannot change my past, however much I would want to.
I cannot make something out of nothing so here I stand as Annika - just Annika.
You and I have always been straight about who we are and what is important to us so let us not complicate matters and relationships that are already so very fragile. I may not be Mrs. Annika Shivvay Singh Oberoi in the near future but I will always be Annika.

IN CONCLUSION:

So if Annika needs to see an acceptance from Shivvay it would have to be now while it still matters. Once her NKK is discovered you can see how futile his acceptance to her would be. By now I do not mean at the very first sign of Pinky attacking Annika but before Annika discovers her background.

It would be more meaningful to her that Shivvay does it with her rather than finds out from her about it later. I am sure it will be she who would initiate digging into her past for Shivvay's sake and his reputation. Her NKK never mattered to her but his respect does. So in order to reinstate that respect in the Oberoi fold she might launch into it because he sacrifices all for it.

PART 2: SHIVVAY

Shivvay and where he stands. Let's start from the end to the beginning where this guy is concerned because that is how it works with Shivvay.

THE DETAILS OF ANNIKA TO BE DRAWN UP FOR THE FAMILY CHART:

If I am to understand he is enraged at his mother insisting and hammering on about Annika's last name and her background. Why? Because he is aware of the lack of it and it is pricking him that he is unable to evade this question from the one person, who like him, believes firmly in it making or breaking a man/woman.

Shivvay has grown overly protective and touche about his wife because he and he alone has had the sporadic glimpses into her lonely past and childhood through the small cracks that he has managed to put in her shield that she constantly wraps around her under the facade of being happy and self-sufficient'.

Annika has learned to trust, share and open up to him thus letting him see a side of her that no other, barring Sahil, has been privy to. Her vulnerability and her fragility have torn through his tough and hard NKK armor without her even knowing it. Shivvay is a knight protecting his Queen and her reputation at this moment.

The look on his face, the hardness in his eyes, the gritting of his teeth and the clenching of his jaw are all indicators that he is well aware of her lack of it and is not willing at the moment to discuss this personal issue without his wife being present. "When she returns she will answer your questions", he states in a very matter-of-fact way. He is not at all happy at his mother's approach of this very delicate matter and is aware of her reasons behind it. Pinky may not realize in her envy and jealousy that she has set the wheels of separation in motion. Not of ShivIka but of her own from the very son she claims to love.

The difference in his reaction to his mother asking the questions as opposed to his father asking it clearly indicates that he is aware that his father plays no role in this charade that his mother is hell bent on putting on. The last straw on the camel's back was her addressing his lil bro Sahil about it. That is when it had gone too far for the man. His insistence that she keep the little guy away from all this was firm. No one was going to put him through any 3^rd degree anymore- not even is own mother and not if he could help it.

"At least tell us her surname before you leave? You know that at least don't you? " - His face looking like thunder indicates that a storm is brewing and it is going to blow the whole Oberoi Family apart. I would be very frightened if I were Pinky.

REWIND TO THE PREVIOUS DAY:

Meet my wife who is not only my strength but also my biggest support system - Annika Shivvay Singh Oberoi. This statement will hold true the day Mahi's information (true or false) is revealed. This man for who NKK means everything will need this support system when his NKK obsessive mother betrays him once more (Tia's pregnancy).

Her 'Sirf Annika' is met with an indulging smile. He has no ego issues with her not wanting to attach his name or last name to hers even with the media watching. Every indulgence from her is met with a very accepting nod. That is again a very big adjustment for the man proud of being an Oberoi' and of being the "Shivvay Singh Oberoi'.

Dinner time and they are sitting at my favorite place - Poolside. It is adorable to watch how patiently he waits while she attempts to feed herself not wanting to force himself on her or make her feel dependent on him.

There is a crack in the shield once again and he gets another small glimpse into what she has been through and how much, what he is doing for her, means to her. There are promises made and taken, responsibilities shared and accepted, vows made and held on to. This is a very poignant moment for them and us watching, as these are the moments that will come into play for when their marriage is put to the real test. We see a very dark Pinky who is visibly burning by now giving us the premonition of the imminent disaster that is to follow.

The ease with which these two glide from serious deep heartfelt revelations to fighting like little children and then making up like besties and then finish off with sweet tender light flirtations would make anyone, not just Pinky, envious of the bond that they share.

It is no wonder that they keep their relationship under wraps and guard it so secretly away from prying and evil eyes.

CONCLUSION:

Annika has found herself behind a secret wall within the Great Wall that is Shivvay. This wall holds only Annika and no other in it. This is understood even by Shakti who is not as obsessive about his son as Pinky is and he has come to terms with it. Pinky is the only one who chooses to be blind to what the truth actually is. Annika Ki Baath Alag Hai where his son Shivvay is concerned and hence he steps in to give them a little "me" time together after all they both have been through.

With all the ruckus and fuss about her background being stirred up by Pinky, Annika may find a few painful days of separation from her Shivvay but rest assured that this man will move 'Heaven and Earth' to ensure that she is safely behind his Great Wall' once the dust settles.
