Both opened their eyes in their respective rooms near the window.

She remembered the conversation between he dadi, Rajmata Dhankor and her mother, Rani Mandira devi just before she had seen him. She smiled looking at the moon thinking how her belief in Shankarji had served her right.

He remembered the events that ensued from setting his foot in her home state to just before meeting her. He felt disgusted by her today. A woman had initially set herself ablaze because for her thirst for money. And today her lover had lost his thumb; just because she was wooing him in the most obnoxious way that could ever be. To top it all, her references to Meera and her ishq quotes- this female was spoiling poetry for him forever.

He came out as he saw Rana and neel; half drunk and dancing. Who could have thought that such things could happen in a royal set up.

Neel and Rana each had a bottle in their hands and they were very visibly drunk with the bottle swaying their hands. The big courtyard right in the middle of the palace was filled by them drinking and dancing along with few other sevaks joining. He noticed Rajmata Dhankor and Rani Mandira devi enjoying it from their balconies as he was. His brothers, parents and Dadi had also come out to look at the commotion happening outside.

At the last second line, Neel went towards Gauri, looking at him smilingly from the corner of the courtyard showing her a one wth his hand as he pined for his love. And he opened his hands wide, holding the end of his dhoti in one hand, as if making a request to god.

She puts the bottle in between and the three compete as to who is going to get the bottle. Finally Gauri wins it. She sways the bottle in her hand with the rhythm in which their (Rana and Neel) heads also move with the bottle.

The other Oberois find their act cute. Slowly, as the dance finishes, they all go to their respective rooms. Her act was too much for him now. He goes to the courtyard, where now, only Neel and Gauri happen to remain.

Neel got startled at listening to Omkaara's tone. Was he her jatadhari- the person Gauri had got married to in Bareily?

"Agar tumhe lagta hai, ki kal job hi hua aur jo tum kar rahi ho, usse tumhe Oberoi bahu banne ka mauka milega toh tum galat soch rahi ho"

Neel got angry at the way Omkaara held her hand, however, being from a lower caste, he decided not to create more troubles for his best friend who had loved him as his sister would.

"Samajh gye; dhyan mein rakhenge"

"Good for you"

He walked off giving both of them a look which contained warning for them.

"Gauri... Gauri, ye hai na tera jatadhari?"

"Ab bta, tujhse zyada acha dikhta hai ya nahi"

"Sach Gauri, aise aadmi ke liy baawri hui padi hai tu?"

(really Gauri, are you mad for such a person?)

"Wo humare liye aisa sochte hai phir bhi hume har baar bachane pahuch jaate hai. Kya zarurat thi Omkaara ko, Humse saadi karne ki? Ache insaan hai wo, bas halaat ke age majboor hai"

(He thinks that way for me, yet he saves me. What was the need for himt o maary me? He is a good person, just a victim of circumstances)

"Aur pakhandi bhi. Sach ka jaap krne walo, saari duniya se jhoot bol ra hai"

(And a hypocrite. He worships truth yet he lies to the world)

"aadarswadi insaan aksar pakhandi laage hai haalat ki wajah se. Jo kaha jar aha hai who sunna chahiye na ki jo keh raha hai usse kyuki ziindagi sabko dhokha deti hai; har vyakti, har bhavna aur har aadars ki pariksa leti hai"

He came to his room and threw the file on his stool. Svetlana had always annoyed him with all her antics to come close to his father and she had tried the same even on him but this girl feigned innocence so perfectly- had Riddhima Ishana and Svetlana not been in his life, he would have fallen for her long back. But now that he was a changed man, it wouldn't be easy to play with him for her.

"Bhaiya, mujhe lagta hai ki bhabhi aapse bahut pyaar karti hai"

"Om, relax. Rudra; she is not our sister-in law till Om says."

Omkaara closed his eyes and clenched his fist. He wished it was so easy to let go; so easy to ignore what she portrayed as her love for her jatadhari- which he knew she referred to him. The whole world had known they were married; the whole world knew her husband had rejected her- they just didn't know that he was her husband. He felt bad for her mother who had always supported her. Something in him told him that her love for him was true; but she was a poor princess who needed money to maintain their reputation and for that losing a finger.. tch tch... making her lover losing a finger would not have been a big task.

"O, ek baat kahu?"

"Bol"

"Hume kisi pe believe krne se pehle time lena chahiye, ye sach hai par iska matlab ye bhi nahi ki hume decide kar lena chahiye ki wo galat hai"

Rudra was kindling the doubt that Om already had in mind relating to Gauri. He got annoyed at the fact that these things were so confusing- to interpret a person's actions and more so, their intentions. Anyways, for him the most important work had been done. He would soon attend the celebrations for third/fourth day of gangaur and take a leave soon then closing the chapter of this girl forever.
