Thank you so much for making this post! I have stopped watching this show and everytime I think of tuning in for Om and RuMya, the fact that I would have to waste my 20 minutes for 2 minutes of seeing the only left likeable characters on the show, changes my opinion.

I remember twice (could very well be three or. more times too) in QH, the PH had to run a apology slide for the violent scenes shown in the show. The two times I remember are when Raziya harassed Dadi and when Tanveer tried to kill Sanam by suffocating her face using a plastic bag.

Why I am pointing these out is that it is about time stricter actions are taken against channels showing such regressive stuff than just making them run apology slides. If abusive language and nudity is made to go through censorship than why not stalking and harassment?!

IB is not only just scoring high on trps but has a HUGE fandom excluding the audience who contributes to trps as well. Most definitely the huge fandom comprises of many young impressionable minds. If not guided what possibly could be the result of them mindlessly following this forced marriage drama?!

Nayi Soch theme is the joke of highest order. They have only applied "Nayi Soch" in changing the way montages are presented and the channel's logo.

Loved reading everyone's point of view. I mentioned in Anjum's post that the show that reached a new low for me. GK and her shows have always been regressive but this time GK has gone to a new low with Shivay actually assaulting Anika. It was extremely depressing to read the written updates so I decided to skip it altogether. I haven't seen the epsiodes in a while and just stick to reading updates but even that is fading fast with time. I don't watch any other hindi show and decided to give this one a try but now I think I will be jumping ship very soon if the story continues in this trajectory.

They have butchered all the characters in the name of TRP's and now they are the slot leaders? Really? How do women of any generation watching this, think this is ok? I don't ever want my daughter to watch this and think that is okay for a guy to do this to a girl. Don't we all reprimand our kids when they push someone in school or playground? That is not acceptable behaviour, so why is it acceptable when it's done by a good looking male lead?

A lot of people on this forum defended his actions, claiming he is character and because it wasn't rape why do we even need to talk about it. If young girls and women feel this way then there is no hope for women in the future. If this is what young girls think, it's extremely sad state of affairs. How will we ever get out these prejudices and make our marks in society?

There are so many posts on the forum that want Anika to be with another man. Why does she need a man to make something of herself in society. She was fully capable of taking care of her brother before why not now?

How can the bad be the new good? Seriously is that even appropriate? I am just flabbergasted at the idea that this show is produced by a woman, written by a women and loved by women who think this is acceptable?

A much needed post!! This is the norm in Gul shows... to show the FL tortured by the ML and then later everything brushed away as if it's all normal.

Shivaay going so low as to threaten and force Anika into a wedding was bad enough but worse is how Anika is still hanging around Oberoi mansion. I was thinking she should have just lifted her ghoongat at the mandap in front of everyone (including the media) and she could have mentioned about how Shivaay had blackmailed her. This way the wedding would not have happened in the first place and she could ensure Saahil's safety as well. But the way they show Anika staying at Oberoi house and doing all the rituals makes her a doormat. She should just walk out. And Daadi's constant chants about mangalsootra and sindoor, etc is irritating... all that would make sense if it was an actual wedding. But this was not a wedding but a sham since it was done by forcing the bride.

Finally, blackmail, threatening to kill and forced wedding are crimes and not romantic at all. If anything, the only logical end to 'Shivika' is Shivaay getting jailed and Anika going ahead to lead her life on her own.

contrary to what everybody thinks here I think Gul is very good at showing strong women characters...anika before marriage is her strongest female character...but even geet,khushi and zoya were good...when her female characters answer back to the hero(for instance khushi's resignation scene or zoya's "these are my clothes,not my character" lecture to asad") it makes for an awesome scene and it does not sound preachy unlike ekta kapoor's attempt at women empowerment would.

Gul has potential to make lovely shows too. In her youth shows, she never degraded women but showed them very strong. I remember a show where d hero had Oberoi surname too. In dat show, 3 heroes fall for a heroine n out of them, 2 guys sacrifice their love as d girl loved d Oberoi guy. And honestly, all 3 guys were decent even though they were rich & d girl was poor. D heroine was a tomboy who loved boxing. Why can't she show her leads like dat in her GEC shows? Gul only shows d girls nicely in her youth shows while in GEC shows she degraded d girls.

Excellent post! And thank you for that chilling news story of the girl being beheaded by the stalker.. shows the influence these shows have on impressionable minds.

Acc. to me, Anika should do d follwing:

1. Go to ACP n tell everything at d wedding day n ask protection for herself n Sahil along wid saying dat SSO forced her to give false statement to save himself 4m being suspect of Gayatri's murder.

2. Should not help OM n Prinku on getn to know their 2 year old crime. Why sud she be mahaan n help them wen SSO can even kill her 5 year old brother?

3. Get d marriage annulled as forced n fraud marriage is void acc. to Hindu marriage act 1955. No amount of Dadi's sanskaari lectures will make it valid.

Why can't Anika be a bitch to d ones who troubled her? Why can't she be like Roshni Kataria of Paanch in terms of fighting back?

I loved u mentioning about roshni of paanch gawdd dat was one awesome revenge filled character ...even though having feelings for him how can she ever stay with him knowing dat she will only be humiliated ...why doesn't she bring out his truth in d media defame him and get outta OM ...giving back to tia ..ignoring shiv doesn't come under giving back LOL
