I am not really surprised seeing the romanticizing of yesterday's epi and previous one. People say they are not supporting the act but then . . . Whereis the place for but if you really disagree with the way he act? Then pages of justification that how he was in character and what do we expect! My favorite line is the scene was very hawwt, return of ML👏 so you see while many are like ohh it was inhuman at the end of day all are siding with character. This is where we as a viewers are going wrong. We have these double standards when serial air we have a view and then we change it. After a while all are forgiven cause 1) the couple is meant to be no point of discussion 2) soon we will get hawwt scene minus these physical assault so what the hell!

These justification that character is Grey that's why it's fine is such a BS. Let's cut down fancy words, shall we? Grey is someone who's willing to cross the line then come back. Black or villain has no line. White is saint. When I say line i think we all know what kind of barrier that is. Threatening to kill a kid, saying he can undress a girlr and stuff is way above the line. Now let's go back to Early ekta days. Remember the quintessential villain guy with smirk and hate and raping another character? Didn't we despise them? Wanted them to die or get punishment? why not now? Cause these shows or books are selling the same villain to us with senty(or not) back story, love/obsession for a girl and good looks. We are failing to see behind the glitter the same person is there. We don't see the heinous acts and justify it. That was character! What do you expect?!

All we can do is discuss these things but problem is the PH itself loves these things. Why won't they? She has backing from phans who shuts down every word of criticism by yelling 'Character!' 'Feminist!'🥱

You can see it . . . 70+ likes for a post glorifying how so in character the epi was, while these posts discussing the follies mostly taken over by stans

THIS!!! ALL OF THIS, RIGHT HERE! 👏 The fact that some women are able to get turned on by a man abusing a woman leaves this awful taste in my mouth, it makes me feel nauseous, and I'm disgusted. Abuse is not sexy, I don't know how many times I have to say that to drill it into people's skulls. Oh, and the "grey shades" and "tragic backstory" excuses are my absolute favorite. First of all, there is a thin line between black and grey, which Shivaay crossed in that episode. Second of all, after what Shivaay did to Anika, I wouldn't even classify him as grey, he's all black, let's be real. Finally, the "tragic backstory" trope. Every male lead has his mommy issues, and his daddy issues, and his ex-girlfriend issues... all to justify his need to be a stone-cold, heartless bas***d. "But he doesn't believe in love yet, she's going to help after all this, and they'll have magical unicorn babies together" said every fan to justify an abusive male lead ever. ENOUGH! It is not a woman's job to "fix" a man, he can do that himself after he gets his head out of ass long enough for him to grow the hell up. Women are not here to make men better, we are not step-stools, and I am sick and tired of us being portrayed that way!

Actually Ekta showed heroine strong in a historical show which ran 2 years. Being historical show, d hero never hurt or insult d heroine in a bad way. Now there is one more historical show of Ekta on Star itself where d heroine is grey-shaded even wanting to kill d hero but people hates her n calls her irritating. They don't want her opposite d hero but another heroine who is sweet n innocent. Very few people love dat heroine.

I dare Gul, actually, scratch that. I dare them all to bring a character like Ishana or Durga (Ek Hasina Thi) back. Female leads who can be loved without being weak playthings simply there for a man's entertainment. If Ishana was still around, it would be revolutionary for women because it's been so long since a character like her has been on screen. Durga was an inspiration because she stood up for what believed in, and she won in the end. I want to see strong female leads like that back on screen. Another great example would be Roshni from Paanch, I don't know if anyone's heard of that though. Think Ek Hasina Thi, college edition, with Roshini as Durga. Characters like that make me feel happy and proud, like our gender is actually well-represented because we are not weak, and enough of us being shown that way.

They have deliberately tried to show that he is doing this for his family, time and again juxtaposing their collective joy with his turbulent thoughts, and having him dance with them to emphasise the softness that is in him when it comes to them. And then the very prominently shown change when he takes off his headgear. Dadi's Billu to SSO. To keep them smiling, he is willing to do anything. As in, it excuses the atrocities he's inflicting on the girl. Because after all, it keeps the happiness intact on Dadi's face. Not to forget maintaining the khaandaan ki izzat in front of society and business rivals.

All those stylised actions in the scene when he corners her, don't in any way hide the sheer brutality of his actions. And then to have her sink in relief against him, seeking solace from the one who's toying with her, torturing her, was just shocking. Have the CVs been reading, when "Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind. Nor hath Love's mind of any judgement taste; Wings, and no eyes, figure unheedy haste." when they had Annika tell him at one point that he lost the plot upon reading Tia's little goodbye note?! To indicate she understands where he's coming from?! To already build up his redemption.

There's no denying there's evil in the world, it's this appalling attempt at justifying it that I have an issue with. It has as much to do with being humane as it does with feminism no?

Having kindness hidden in the deepest pits of one's heart, does not excuse them for being heartless monsters.

I haven't watched this week's episodes yet because I cringed at reading the written updates. I might decide to skip the episodes altogether.

GK has always been a sadist. But this isn't new to GK shows but she has stooped to a new level in my opinion. She could have shown hatred from SSO's side in a much low key way that does not show any bodily harm. What he did was actually assaulting her. I have no idea how young girls or any women on the forum or twitter or any other medium think this is okay. There are so many posts in the forum that say that its justifiable for him to do what he did because he acted in character. Its disturbing to be very frank.

I work in a very male dominated industry where I have had to work extra hard to move up the food chain, so to speak. If young girls these days think that it's acceptable for a man to treat a woman like this then it's a harsh reality in the real world. We already have so many prejudices to overcome and to add to this list is male domination.

Not to take anything away from the actors, they did a fantastic job. Both Surbhi and Nakul are amazing actors but I am sure these scenes might have been hard for them to enact as well.

It pisses me off to no end when creative heads are women, and they still give us this garbage. Like, you have all this power, to represent our gender, and you're just throwing it away because of ratings?! If women can't have support from other women, then we as a gender are, for lack of a better term, doomed.

You want to know the most f**ked up thing? I read a comment in a thread where a girl was saying 'okay , yes, Sshivaay manhandled Annika. But he did not kill her or rape her, so whats the big deal?'

It makes me sick! To think that women think it's okay, acceptable, even hot for a man to push them around is despicable. It reminds me of Trump's "grab'em by the pu**y comment" and how republican women defended him saying that women like being grabbed. It's horrible and scary.

See, we are not stupid. We know this is a fictional show, we know that Shivvay and annika will end up together, no matter if he redeems himself or not. The reason we are showing our disgust is because life imitates art and vice versa. If you show your lead actor doing such actions that means you are telling the world it's okay to do so to the girl that you love. That they will like it. Spoiler alert : We Don't!

And all of the women who are defending his actions right now, I don't know what they'll say if they actually meet a victim of abuse some day. "Hey, it was your fault? Why did you interfere? You should be in your lakshman rekha like a good little lady? It's your fault that he did what he did? You made him do it?"

It's pathetic, really.

Do not bring that pastyass, demented creamsicle onto this forum. A rapist might actually become president of one of the most influential countries in the world, those wounds are still fresh. It's like that #womenfortrump shit. Like, it baffles me to no end when women can actually manage to defend people like that, to defend rapists and abusers. It's concerning, I'm concerned about women who do that. That sort of behavior is not okay!

When a girl gets raped or gets eve teased women say that it's the girls fault. When there is a divorce it's the woman's fault. When we ourselves doesn't respect our own gender why should we ask men to respect us?

EXACTLY!!! As a gender, we should be understanding of one another's situations because rape and assault can happen to any woman, and instead of sympathizing, we join in and insult each other. No! Who's going to support us and stand up for us other than each other? It's actually sad that we can't find comfort in the form of other women.

Hi Richa!

I have read that same post I think and a few more where people have gone ahead and justified his actions and said its not rape so why use that word. Some like you said have gone even further and said that its okay whatever happened, they will be together in the end. That is what GK does. She has created a cult following. She is a woman herself. But you know the saying, women are women's worst enemy.

Shows like this have a lot of affect on women. How do people not see that? this is maybe my 4th Hindi show and I think I get really worked up and quit eventually. I don't survive many shows and haven't seen the end of most of them.

Don't get me started on Trump..i didn't sleep that entire night of election. I finally went to bed at 3am when Hillary was losing Florida and Pennsylvania. I knew if she lost both she cannot win it. I have such bad luck, I now live in a country that voted for Brexit and I am citizen of a country that voted for Trump!!!!!!!!!!! 😡

and btw I am a democrat...my state voted for Hillary..thank god for small mercies... 😊

@bold: The fact that this statement is true makes me so sad. I cannot being to express the importance of women sticking together.
But you poor soul! Trump and Brexit? Bruh, get out of there!
See, I'm Canadian, but that US election still affects me and my country. I kind of want Trudeau to take a page out of Trump's book, and build a wall separating America from the rest of the world, but I don't want to punish an entire country for something half its population did. I lowkey want anyone who voted for Trump to create a separate continent where can rule over them, but I highkey don't because it's cruel. But also, they brought it on themselves for voting for him... I'm very torn, and getting off topic, as you can see.

Exactly! You would not believe how many women on this forum use 'feminism' in a sarastic, patronizing way. They have no bloody idea about the centuries of struggle women have taken up on their behalf, on our behalf. I see 'white feminism' and 'psuedo feminism' used a lot. What the f**k is that? Personally, I thik its complete bullshit. Yes, the West is more progressed and morre privileged than us. That does not mean sexism doesn't exist. They too have a wage gap. They too have rapes and domestic abuse and many other things. Just because our circumstances are relatively more difficult doesn't mean they have no right to fight for their rights. If we apply the theory of relativiy, then only a single person in the whole wide world is supposed o be sad because somebody else will always have it worse. And only a single person is supposed to be happy for the same logic.

To be honest, this forum has become even worse than buzzfeed comment section. It makes me sick.

Thank you for mentioning both white feminism and pseudo feminism!

Pseudo feminism is basically society's way of trying to diminish feminism. According to the internet, pseudo feminist is basically a man-hater, and I don't see anything wrong with that. After the way that men have treated us for centuries, and even now, I don't understand how or why we are expected to shower them with compliments, and not have some sort of resentment towards them. Women have to work twice as hard to prove themselves, and that is not fair. This term is a sarcastic dig at what feminists stand for, and it's not right.

White feminism is something that I strongly believe exists. Basically, it's when women are quick to defend other women, which is great, but only white women. For example, I remember distinctly when this one actress was talking about how representation for women is so very important, and I agreed with her, 100%. But when asked about her co-star being called a bitch, as well as certain racial slurs on social media, she went quiet. All that talk about how women should always stick together was gone. All we got after that was "next question." I feel as though standing up for all women should literally mean, standing up for ALL women.

People have been trying to destroy feminism ever since it actually became a thing. What you went through, was the ignorance of these individuals who are simply afraid of change.

You wear it with pride for the women who have struggled for centuries so their voices are heard. You wear it with pride for our mothers who work so hard to bring us up and take care of our house and all they get as thanks is being called a 'housewife' in a condescending way. You wear it with pride for us, who are struggling to make the society understand that we have full right to an education and relationships and sex. You wear it for every woman ever who was ever degraded and looked down on and you promise yourself that you'll do better. That you will take a stand against what is wrong, that you will speak up for your rights and you don't give two shits about people who think that you should keep mum and stand in a corner like a good girl.

I am not trying to be preachy but I am really pissed seeing the reactions of everyone on this forum and I couldn't stop myself.

Sending you love❤️
