Today, Leenesh did something I bet he's been waiting to do since the call came from his agent about getting this part. He gave Rudra grey shades, and an element of being..well..dickish.. that I haven't seen him display before. And instantly, Rudra became an Oberoi for me, and I can believe he is Tej Oberoi's son in more than name. I also believe, that he will actually be the most difficult man among the brothers, when it comes to giving in to his woman. The reason is, Rudra no longer trusts his brain, Soumya. Oh, he may be ready to see her as his wife, fall in love with her--but who will tell him all this? Back when she was the Love Angel AND his friend, she did the mental thing for him. The thinking, the analysis, the understanding of both his internal world and his brothers--the Love Angel aided in all. Now they have entered a relationship he cannot define --Rudra has pushed his "brain" away, and he is literally operating without thought, just physically reacting, blindly.
If love is a combination of mind, body and heart, the three brothers typify one part of each whole. While Shivaay and Anika represent the mind connect, the inevitable matchup of two halves, Om and his woman will be the heart connect, the soldering of the senses. The USP of the Rudra Saumya romance is the body connect. Literally, when they cast the actors, they went there to drive the point home visually. We have Leenesh with his overbuilt body, contrasting with Neha's deliberately overblown, softer curves.
I thought it was just to give the preening peacock a normal sparrow to cherish, and one more message of girl power to the masses. But today I realized, there is also a parallel that Gul made of what has to work together to make up a whole, healthy body-- the connection of the beautiful physical body shown in Rudra, with the intellectual voice or brain --- Saumya.
Today, Gul established what happens when these two halves are not in line. Also, something more--- by pointing out the other physical side of love, when it is love without realizing it -- earthy, animal, raw, possession for the hell of it. The body just feels, and reacts. It is hot, it takes off its clothes. it is hungry, its tummy growls. There is no sense of right or wrong, and no balance. The body does not know why it wants something, just that it WANTS. The body without the mind cannot exist for long without going nuts--which we saw today . It does not understand the logic, or morals of right and wrong. It just understands that a certain action will give it what it wants.
And so, Rudra represented that perfectly today. Since his "mind" literally comes from outside as a voice of reason (Love Angel) and she is currently not broadcasting in his direction, Rudra is left with unthinking physical rage. So, he is the body without the mind and if you think about it, his reactions today were caveman-like and absolutely terrifying. Obviously I don't mean he'll hurt her, obviously, he WILL hurt anyone taking what is HIS. Do you think either Om or Shivaay would recognize this Rudra?
He, the softest, most vulnerable, and even the most easily persuaded and controlled of the brothers displayed full on aggressive, unthinking alpha male possession. MINE. Not even a moment to think.. Do I even want her? What does a wife mean to me? But another man came to get it, (and I use it intentionally--Saumya for him right now is no more real as a wife than his basketball is-- Rudra just OWNS both) and he bloodied the man. Mine.
