Bang on post and great analysis on Omkara. You won't get any chappals for this post, because I love my chamelis very much and unused one are already out of the house, just kidding, I absolutely loved your post and agree with all the points. Though I would like to point out few things...
Om is no Saint and says white lies, which is opposite to his preachings. It was already hinted in starting episodes that Om's words and actions would contradict themselves, so I was kind of expecting this...
Om supported Anika over Shivaay, not because Anika saved his family or was truthful person in his eyes, but he supported her because all the witnesses were in favour of Anika (his investigation with Rudy in chip incident). So indeed he supported truth over family.
In ishana case he believed ishana, when he saw her in pain and truth in her eyes (in stair case scene, where she was genuinely hurt) but got his doubts on her, albeit late and shared with his brothers. He completely discarded Ish when he got proofs against her (Rudy's investigation).
I don't think any any human would want a con person in his life or want to know reasons behind a treachery. Almost everyone won't do that, but would put that con behind bars. So why this double standard in Om's case, why he have know reasons behind his enemy's wrong doings.
He want to see the world according to his beliefs, and see every person in black and white. But he indeed supported Dev for priyanka even after knowing he is illegimate, he had only problem with their lying and honestly I think any one would have problem in that lying situation. So indeed he saw Mr. Chabra as grey and accepted that fact. A person going through a traumatic childhood and had substance abuse issue, would surely go in a shell and sometimes behaves impractical, I think it is completely fine according to their given past situations.
He hates Tej and thinks he is bad, not only because of Tej's business ethics but also because of the chaos he created in family (I think nobody would want such a cheater father). So him thinking Tej murdered Gayaythri is acceptable, because that man is not truthful and loyal his own wife and kids, and want his son only because he wants his succesor( in Om's eyes). The whole mystery regarding that some long ago raaz also add to the suspicions. Still he went on to investigate the matter with the trio, giving benefit of doubt to Tej, although in small amount. If he only hated Tej due to his business ethics then he would have hated Shakti and Shivaay also, but he don't hate them because they didn't backstabbed their family or were reasons behind their child's traumatic childhood. Tej snatched away Om's childhood from him, he would definately hold some grudge.
No where i have seen Om appreciating Shivaay's business ethics, albeit he stands against Shivaay in his wrong decisions. So I don't see how Om sees Tej as bad and Shivaay as good, only because he believes in that.
I don't believe in speculations so I can't comment on recent happenings, and also because I haven't seen the show from past few days. Though I would like to wait and see how this track unfolds before passing my judgement.
I love Om because he is human with flaws and not someone mahanta ki Dev or devi, and I accept him the way he is...
