Yours, again.
Excerpt
Shivaay froze amidst greeting several guests when he felt the hair at the back of his neck rise. He fumed, knowing exactly who just walked into the hall. He turned around, his eyes touched upon Anika's down turned face. He was captivated for a moment before realising he was still shaking someone's hand. Awkwardly, he excused himself and picked up a drink from the passing waiter.
She doesn't bother me
He convinced himself, while looking at her behind his scotch glass. He hated her with a passion so deep it resembled desire. The price he had determined for her to pay for his hatred was a sealed deal. Things were going to change from now on. He would not let her walk away again without giving it back to her, with interest. He wasn't going to let her control him again, not going to let her stand in his way ever again. This was a personal war and when his brother's wedding was over, he would enjoy getting rid of her once and for all.
..
Anika felt a cold chill sweep over her as the hair on the back of her neck stood on end. The feeling was too familiar for her to ignore it. It was the same feeling she got when he was around nowadays. Fear creeped along her skin, making her shiver but she fought it with all the strength she could manage. She would not show him her weakness, her fear.
She decided to push him at the back of her mind and enjoy her night. It was her best friend's sangeet and Omkara would be upset if he saw her like this. Pasting a smile on her face, she regained her control and began enjoying the night. She sipped her juice and watched the dance floor like everyone else.
She smiled at the way Rudra pulled Soumya and twirled her around. She wondered how it would feel to get out on the dance floor with a partner. Automatically, her eyes flitted to Shivaay who was standing right opposite her, on the other side of the dance floor. Thankfully, he was talking to some businessmen and she got a few moments to admire him.
Once upon a time, she knew exactly how it felt to be on the dance floor with a partner. She remembered every caress, every whispers. The way his large warm hands would hold her while sparks like a live wire ran up her arms. She had gone from staring straight into lustful gazing at such a rapid speed, she jerked back with the impact.
NO! He doesn't affect me anymore.
Forcing her attention back to Rudra and Soumya who was goofing around on the dance floor, she found herself smiling again, although it took all the self control she could conjure. A finger slid down her back, she gasped and turned around, coming face to face with the devil himself.
"Well, I see you didn't bother to greet me, my dear estranged wife"
