He stopped his car just near his newly discovered favourite place. Though small, it was the brightest among the other shops nearby and surprisingly gained a good popularity in just few monthes.
' Sahil cafe' read the large wooden board hung on the top of cafe, glowing in alternate coloured lights against the dark yet clear sky.
He came out of his large luxurious car and reached to the transparent entrance from where he could clearly see her taking orders from customers, smiling at them to fullest.
He adjusted his coat a little before pusing the crystal clear door. A soft music hit his ear as he entered the cafeteria which reminded him of her favourite radio channel.
He walked to his favourite table and took his seat. It was a kind of his personal space in the whole cafe from where his limpid blue eyes would gaze around the every corner of the cafe and her every actions.
She knew he would come. Just like any unbreakable routine he would visit there at least twice a week. And she knew the reason for the front table he always chose and she had tagged it Reserved permanently just for him.
Initially he used to give excuses about his car being dysfunctional right in front of her cafe which was in completely opposite route from his mansion to his office and to add this he would hire the slowest and laziest Mechanic ever.
Now he didnot need silly excuses. He now knew the appropriate reason and Anika too would never dare to ask him. What if he reveals his real intentions? What if he actually says it. It would be difficult then to utter something for her who otherwise doesnt need a topic to blubber whole day.
"Hello sir, Its been long this time" Juhi , Annika's assistant smiled placing his orders on the table and continued "A whole week." She lifted the empty tray.
"What to do miss Juhi. My car doesn't trouble me these days" he smiled back and glanced to Annika who was busy in stirring something.
"Enjoy your Espresso sir and do inform me if you want somthing else." Juhi said humbly before leaving to other customers.
He never had to give orders by himself. She knew what he preferred and she would make it ready no matter how many pending requests she had to meet, just for him.
Now she doesn't mix the terms Americano and Espresso. He smiled at the thought and breathed in the odour of the dark espresso like he does every time before sipping. His eyes would never fail to appreciate and she would smile at contentment.
Almost a year ago Oberoi Mansion witnessed her last day of presence when he had announced the termination of Tia's and his relationship. They did it amicably for some business purpose. After that the mansion had never needed her but his heart had. Her absence made him realized her presence in his life.
He would often dial wrong number Anika to hear her voice. Sometimes he would reach her house to clear her already cleared payments. Indeed a poor lier he was!
One day his Business Times had some surprise for him. A small advertisement of her cafe caught his eyeballs enough to provide a destination to his unbridled desires.
He saw her prancing from one table to another taking orders, serving snacks, smiling and greeting and asking them to be back someday.
She loves moon not only in her bracelet but also inside the cafe where tiny silver moons were swinging from all over the roof. The music from her radio filled the environment and almost all the tables were occupied by people of all age groups but none of them were alone like he was.
Minutes turned to hours as he sat there gulping down few cups of espresso and silently watching her. And finally they were all alone owing to the clock which ticked 10 , closing time of cafe. Juhi had left with her stuffs. Anika gathered all the lipped plates and cups.
"Its too late. You should leave" Anika said as she came to his table and collected his empty cups and went to wash.
" yeah too late. I'll drop you home" Shivaay offered as usual.
It had been another routine to drop her to home whenever he visited . Anika wouldn't deny his offers knowing he would not listen at any cost plus arguments with him could lead to some other topics which she didnot want to unfold.
"Hello RJ Rohan. I'm Akash" A teen male voice replaced the music and immediately caught their attention.
"I have a story to tell." He continued "their lived a girl in my neighborhood. We wouldn't pass a single day without fighting. We hated each other and would quarrel for every single matter. Now she doesnt live here. They have shifted to their new house and now I miss her. Later she took admission in my class but we hardly talk now. Even normal conversation turn to awkward silence. Im really clueless what to do. Just need some suggestions" he finished and the RJ promised to reply him after a song.
Shivaay and Anika looked to each other feeling uneasy at the similarity of the story to their lives. She quickly turned to face the wall and opened the water tap.
" well...Its so simple. The boy is in love with her" shivay breached the silence. He stood off the chair and walked to kitchen counter where she was washing dishes.
"What do you think?" Shivaay leaned to the outer boundary of the curvy table from where he was facing her back.
"You are right. He should confess it to the girl..that's it" she replied still working her hand under the running water.
"What if the girl knows this and deliberately avoiding the fact" said shivaay in sureness dripping tone.
Anika was frozen for a moment and turned in reflex only to find his face few inch away. His blue eyes were confident, dark as if demanding for an explanation.
Her heartbeat raised at the sudden confrontation but he looked relaxed yet curious from inside.
"May be the girl is in dilemma and need some time to understand the new change." She finally managed to speak.
"The boy should not assume in hurry. He should wait for her reply" she moved away to the overhead cabinet to keep the cups.
" The boy has been waiting for a whole year just for a reply." She chuckled at the mention of the period of time. His voice was genuine about the struggles he had fought for his feelings.
"May be the girl has been waiting for the boy to initiate." She finished closing the cabinet.
Before Shivaay could voice his assumptions Anika interrupted " Its too late ..we should leave now"
"Yeah its too late I know" his voice muffled inside him and he followed her to exit.
"Thankyou card for you. Juhi forgot it today" Anika handed him a small red card who was about to start the engine.
Shivaay took it and jabbed it in the inner pocket of the coat. It a tradition of her cafe to provide thankyou cards to customers. For Shivaay he had just received the 25th card.
They drove silently through the dark streets, throwing occasional glances to each other. Finally after an hour they reached her house. Her champa could have traversed it faster but they both had developed liking towards this slow journey of togetherness.
She sighed and unclipped the seatbelt and got out of his car.
"Anika" Shivaay called out before she could walk away and disappeared in the darkness.
She leaned to the window of car and wriggled her eyebrows in question.
"What if the girl says no to the boy?" Shivaay asked making a childish face. Fear of rejection was clear in his eyes.
"Maybe the girl has already said yes to the boy but he doesnt notice it" Anika pouted matching his expression.
His forehead puckered at the reply.
"Good night billuji" she chortled and walked away leaving him confused.
Shivay drove away from there still his mind in contemplative process. He wrecked his brain hard to decode her words.
Something struck him and his car came to sudden halt. He pulled out the card and opened it.
"The girl is little shy. She is waiting for the boy to approach her and she will always say yes to him" he read the message and it took him nanosecond to recognise the handwriting.
His face altered from confusion to ecstasy. He took a sharp U turn towards her. He wanted to give shout..scream to this Silent reply. Now.
