So to be honest , up until now, I hadn't really warmed up to Om, because I found him too good to be true, too perfect to be real, but I really liked how in the last few episodes, we see exactly what his flaw is, it is his rigid ideology, like Shivaay says Om " sees the world in black & white" when in reality, the world is a myriad of grey hues interspersed with flashes of black & white.

To borrow a quote from ASOIAF , Om is " pure iron, black and hard and strong, yes, but brittle, the way iron gets. He'll break before he bends". Ishana is the counter to this rigidity, she will teach Om to see life, beyond a spectrum of black & white, because this rigidity will lead to disappointment, human beings are flawed, sometimes we will exceed expectations , sometimes we will barely meet it & many a times, we will fail to meet expectations, But it does not make us bad or evil, just human beings, flawed & beautiful.

On another note, I know a lot of people, don't like Ishana trying to break up Om & Riddhima, but in my opinion, this is interesting. She is morally wrong but she is no mahaanta, she is selfish & doing whatever it takes to better her family & her life.

Personally I haven't warmed up to this character still...not because he is "too good to be true" but he is extremely one dimensional since day one as are most of the characters in this show. The difference is in the fact that his character is the most pretentious and put on of the lot.

His "black and white" ideology has been apparent since day one...he's had previous debates with Shivaay on ideological differences as well. But that's about it...his character is all about making random pretentious observations about things but having no real strength to stand up and use his brain (if he has one one). First chance he gets, he folds over and needs Shivaay to prop him up. It's funny how they try to sell him as the 'wise" one of the bunch when he depends so much on the others to stop him from being one step away from suicid-ing at the mere hint of a setback in life😕😆

Re: Ishaana...lol the problem isn't that she's trying to break up Om and Riddhima, the problem lies in the utterly aimless set of scenes she has...no basis, no graph for her character whatsoever.

Anu😛, I agree on the pretentious part, the thing being he thinks he is really humanist when he is so rigidly unforgiving, I think his character growth will be when he realises how he is probably not so much a benevolent humanist. as he likes to imagines himself to be ,but a rigid adherent to an ideology, just like Shivaay who rigidly adheres to capitalism, the difference being Shivaay is self-aware of his elitism.

As for Ishana, my problems with her echo yours. But I am addressing the fact that a lot of people think its wrong that Ishana is breaking up Om & Riddhima but honestly for me, that made her interesting to an extent.

Hello Adhira😛

Regarding self-awareness...that's a valid point...if we are discussing this purely on the basis of what his character is INTENDED to be (but hardly ever manages to get executed correctly😆)...then yes, he lacks that self-awareness. His brand of elitism veers more towards the self-righteous types, but it is still a kind of elitism. While Shivaay is all about capitalism, money and power...and he declares it without mincing words, Omkara adheres to a different kind of 'elitism'...both their set of "principles" are rigid. It's ironic that Omkara for all his (supposed) sensitivity is unable to self-reflect properly.

I'm not sure if Omkara is going to have any growth as a character wherein he realizes that his black and white approach isn't gonna work...as of right now, he seems like the epitome of cluelessness on every topic except for commenting on Shivaay-Anika's equation. And Ishana hardly seems like a character who can inspire evolution of any sort as of now atleast.

If Omkara's issues stem from the messed up marriage of his parents, that is hardly depicted properly in the show either...what evolution can be expected from a guy who jumps to kill himself at the first sign that someone "let him down".

Also, isn't he like just observing Riddhima's so called social activism as a passive observer? He is hardly a legit humanist actively doing something to bring a change in society so I'm not sure where he's developed this inflated perception of himself😆...He's all "ideology", no substance on ground.

Yes I remember u guys from ky2 forum.ur username was Anomander rake right.glad to meet uu all here eventhough I don't know any of u personally🤗.I like omkara better than the other 2 may be bcoz I m tired of watching angry young man and playboy.I always found him grey and controlling some storm inside him from the episode where he threw away his half erected sculpture.he has some serious anger mgmt issues than shivay.I found him to be multilayered may be I m overhinking. And I also agree when he tried to commit suicide I thought he has shared some past with Svetlana that can only justify his doing even janvi didn't do anything after seeing her husband in bed with another women that too on national television😕.it would be wonderful if they both dated and she left him for his daddy like in no strings attached.in kyy the first 70 to 80 episodes were pure gold and I remember rewatching it many time after the telecast.here I don't feel like doing that even I miss the episode it doesn't bother me.I think I m forcing myself to like the show bcoz I m velle ,promos looked super cool and i needed a show to gush over..I hope CVS do justice to ishanas character and ishkaras love story.
PS I know comparing 2 shows is wrong but kyy is the last show I watched and loved.

Ok, I watched one episode today and that was it. I'm not doing it again. Nope. Nope. Nada! 😳

Let me start with the acting (the lack of it, more like). I was having this feeling of looking at pretty wax sculptures that can talk- it was THAT bad!

It reminded me of Kanan-Biswa's review of the movie "Prem Agan"- the part where they talk about Fardeen's acting and how it looked more like he's reading out lines from the script. That exactly what these people were doing. Hell, even the veteran Mahesh Thakur couldn't create any impact!

Omkar's pompadour itself is sooo distracting that you JUST cannot take him seriously.

Shivaay looked like a green-eyed robot and Rudra- no comments. 🥱

Acting is the first thing that gets you to watch a show in the first place. If the acting is not good enough, no amount of layered and complex characterization can save the grace of the show.

The story- I was W*Fing the whole time. So a lady in green saree pops up out of nowhere, Om lets her in coz...emosansss. Then in the precap he learns about her chori-aur-seena-zori and blames himself for doing the wrong thing...that escalated quickly. 🤓

Anyone else who found Shivaay's style of holding his mobile funny? He looked like he's doing some sort of arm exercise. 🐷

Om sunaaos Shivaay for ditching rakhi "Tunay mera bharosa tod diya". WHAT was the dialogue writer smoking? What has ditching rakhi got to do with trust? Om sounded like someone who caught his brother cheating on his sister with another sister or something. 🤔

Ok now I'm off. Ek din ke liye bohot dekh liya bhai! 😃

P.S- Too lazy to make another post. So bear with me Billi. 😈

Before anyone says ANYTHING .. I'd just like to remind everyone that this is a GUL KHAN show. That woman has NEVER produced / directed / written a SINGLE show with substance. The USP of every single show of hers is SEXUAL FRUSTRATION. That's it. Nothing more. If .. by any chance ... uske kisi show kisi normal dimagh ke insaan ko acha lag gaya ... I believe that is entirely because of what the ACTOR brings to table ... adding THEIR personal touch. One does NOT watch a 4Lions show for content / logic / depth / plot. If one does, one is smoking something that induces delusion. I watch Ishqbaaaz because it is entertaining ...
I like Pinky and Jaahnvi's scenes ... I like how for Pinky, when it matters most .. family > petty games ... and I like how the brothers fall back on each other regardless of how useless they are individually. Even if Shivay does save his brothers' collective ass using his money and family names, I will like him for it. Jiske paas jo hai woh wohi istemaal karega na ?! Dimagh/ personality hota toh woh use karta .. Like Anika. Point is, the guy loves his brothers and that works for me.

Anika ... Surbhi C. Is a patakha and I LOVE her portrayal of Anika. Vrushika's look in the show is nice but her scenes have no meaning and the dance sequences are so random ... I like Kunal Jai Singh and Leenesh Mattoo as Om and Rudra .. I genuinely think Rudra is funny. Leenesh's Rudra is true to his CryBaby Oberoi / Dumb Bell Oberoi monikers . Nakul has a nice nose but his voice modulation leaves much to be desired .. its not the guy's fault Shivay has been shown to be such an outrageously obnoxious person. I blame that on Gul. I like the older actors .. the parents ... and Subha Rajput as Priyanka is sweet but I am guessing she is fairly new to all this .. so yeah.. all in all Ishqbaaaz is like an Akshay Kumar movie. You watch it ... you laugh you chill you unwind and then you forget a bout it . They show is not good enough to be called brain food .. hindi shows rarely are (Gulal jaise shows ek hi baar bante hai) but its not bad enough to cause damage to brain cells. I don't think Gul can out do herself on that ground ... Her magnum opus made sure of that. I am sure everyone here knows what show I am talking about 😆
