Err. Sorry ma'am. I'm not so aware of other religions. But I can speak about Hinduism. Well, it's a misconception that female infanticide, child marriages has something to do with Hinduism. In Hinduism,
Women are perceived as Shakti(strength/power),Maa Kali steps on Lord Shiva, also if a girl is born it is considered to be as birth of Goddess Lakshmi ( symbolism of wealth and good fortune),there was always a kind of female supremacy in Hindu scriptures too,so female foeticide has nothing to do with Hinduism, it's just a social evil; and the same goes for child marriage, Sati, dowry etc etc. I guess many of us confuse with Smriti and Shastra. Smriti are scriptures by man; whereas Shastras are eternal and words of God, Shastrasnever advocated any of these social evils. Infact, Lord Rama actually stops His mothers from committing Sati. Infact in all our scriptures, women marry only after they're old enough. So how India actually engaged in this child marriage thing at one point of time,is difficult to understand.@TM All the best for your thesis, I don't have much knowledge about other religions, but I can clarify your doubts about Hinduism (if you have any). Feel free to PM. Good luck

Strictly talking about my religion (Hinduism).. i feel like hitting the morons who says woman should dress like this, stay in limits, oppose LGBT rights and etc ..and all this by quoting religion and scriptures. and yes hit them on their heads with those very books on Hindu religion. We have women as goddesses and warriors and saints. Female forms of Gods are just as powerful .. sometimes more powerful than male forms. So much for 'interpreting' and using religion as excuse to treat other genders as secondary citizens.

Sometimes I feel some misogynists fail to interpret these teachings properly. And I guess this happens in every religion. Speaking about Hinduism, in the place where I live, whenever a girl child is born, it is said ki maa Lakshmi ka janam huwa hai, Ab toh ghar mein khushiyan hi khushiyan hai. So sometimes I feel it's all about perception!

That's indeed sad! But I just wanted to know if this is only due to the conservative nature of Arabs or it has anything to do with religion.
