Edit: posted a long rant above but deleting it coz it was completely off the tangent😆.

In short.. it is a man's world out there. And I am not even a hardcore feminist.
If Mother nature reverses and MAN will be the one who has to hold the baton of getting pregnant and giving birth to babies.. all the religions in the world and their tenets will change (or will be understood and interpreted in their actual forms) with a snap of fingers.

Good look for your thesis. And best wishes.😊.
God speed.

P.s. Strictly talking about my religion (Hinduism).. i feel like hitting the morons who says woman should dress like this, stay in limits, oppose LGBT rights and etc ..and all this by quoting religion and scriptures. and yes hit them on their heads with those very books on Hindu religion. We have women as goddesses and warriors and saints. Female forms of Gods are just as powerful .. sometimes more powerful than male forms.
So much for 'interpreting' and using religion as excuse to treat other genders as secondary citizens.

Err. Sorry ma'am. I'm not so aware of other religions. But I can speak about Hinduism. Well, it's a misconception that female infanticide, child marriages has something to do with Hinduism. In Hinduism,
Women are perceived as Shakti(strength/power),Maa Kali steps on Lord Shiva, also if a girl is born it is considered to be as birth of Goddess Lakshmi ( symbolism of wealth and good fortune),there was always a kind of female supremacy in Hindu scriptures too,so female foeticide has nothing to do with Hinduism, it's just a social evil; and the same goes for child marriage, Sati, dowry etc etc. I guess many of us confuse with Smriti and Shastra. Smriti are scriptures by man; whereas Shastras are eternal and words of God, Shastrasnever advocated any of these social evils. Infact, Lord Rama actually stops His mothers from committing Sati. Infact in all our scriptures, women marry only after they're old enough. So how India actually engaged in this child marriage thing at one point of time,is difficult to understand.
@TM All the best for your thesis, I don't have much knowledge about other religions, but I can clarify your doubts about Hinduism (if you have any). Feel free to PM. Good luck

Sometimes I feel some misogynists fail to interpret these teachings properly. And I guess this happens in every religion. Speaking about Hinduism, in the place where I live, whenever a girl child is born, it is said ki maa Lakshmi ka janam huwa hai, Ab toh ghar mein khushiyan hi khushiyan hai. So sometimes I feel it's all about perception!

Tell me about it mate. we have maa lakshmi, maa saraswati, maa durga.. and then we have the likes of those idiotic brigade who consider themselves as thekedaar of our religion and pass diktats against women. the very diktats which can be debunked if only one 'READ' and understand what Hinduism stands for.

check this one. my absolute favourite. (err. sorry TM for hijacking your thread.)

Hi there,
I am bac. My sincere apologies for teh delay but I had some real life commitments to tend to.

Anyway back to the subject, I will try to give you short answers to the topics you posted.

-Men are in charge of women?
Well yes.
BUT BUT BUT! Not in the way one might hastily judge. Men are in charge of women just like how parents are in charge of children. That is to say, men are responsible for protecting and providing for the women.
Does this mean that men control us? No.

-Women stay at home?
Yes and No. While women are encouraged (not and never forced) at home to look after the family, there is no hard ruling that prevents women from pursuing a career. Women are not prisoners in Islam. They are free to go out, pursue their hobbies and the likes.
Did you know Islam, even back in those old ages granted women the right to have and start businesses?

-Women worth half?
NO!
Honestly, I don't even know where this came from but NO.

-Sex slavery.
Since this did not imply exactly what the video-maker means, I will keep the topic of sex slavery very basic.
Sex slavery is haram (prohibited) in Islam. Neither women nor men should practice this, no matter how dire their situation.

-Women are your fields?
What? I am sorry but what does this even mean? I can't comment on this because I don't understand what it means?

-Women are deficient in intelligence?
No! No where in the Quran can one find evidence to support the above claim.

-Women are satanic?
NO! (Going on a side note, the person who made this video is really off his socks... His video is a blatant hate rant towards Islam. Also note, the sources used are not credible to the slightest.)
Eve was created out of the loin of Adam. If one considers Adam human, by default anything created from him is Human. Also, the Lord dearly loved Adam. How could one think that He would create something Satanic for His beloved subject?

-Women are weak?
No. Claim out of context.

-Women must always submit to the husband's sexual desire?
Yes. But honestly, why shouldn't she? Just as a husband must always submit to the wife's sexual desire.
What the claim originally means is that a woman or man shouldn't deny their spouse sexual gratification without any justifiable cause. That being said any good spouse should understand a 'No' too.

-Women should be worshiping men?
NO! Women and Men should only be worshiping Allah. Worshiping anything or anyone other than Him, is a sin of the highest degree. This is shirk.

-Women can be held captive and raped.
NO!!!
This is Haram
(Honestly, I feel sorry for you. You have wasted your valuable time on a video made by an IDIOT.)

-Countries led by women are doomed?
What is the semblance to Islam here? Is Great Britain doomed?

-Women shouldn't complain when beaten?
Women shouldn't be beaten in the first place. The Prophet (Peace be Upon him) was once asked by a fellow, what must be do, if he gets angry at his wife and has to raise his hand on her. The Prophet replied that one mustn't hit his wife even with a handkerchief.
Abuse of any sort to anyone is unacceptable in Islam.

I hope this has helped clear any misconceptions :)

Thanks.

Don't you think it is immature to jump the gun and judge a whole religion based on a single country?
(Well if yes, please judge all Christians based on how Hitler annihilated millions of Jews, or how Hinduism practiced Sati.)

Women being prohibited to drive in Saudi is a Country culture, not Islamic ruling. In neighboring Muslim countries like United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and Bahrain women are allowed to drive.
Also Women were allowed to ride camels way back during the dawn of the Islam, so what is to stop women from driving cars now?

Please do not mistake a Country Law with religion.

@neverlandspirit Thanks for the detailed explanation.
So you mean to say that the sources he has mentioned are not authentic?
