Riddhima's POV

Hi. I'm sure you don't know me. I'm Riddhima. Riddhima Sharma. I'm 14 years old and I'm a freshman in high school. Right now, I'm going through my follow requests on Instagram. I don't know why I receive so many random requests. I started declining the follow requests of the people whom I don't know. As I was declining the requests, I suddenly see a familiar name. It is Rrahul Sudhir. He is a very popular senior at my high school whereas I'm one of the quietest girls in my school. Why did Rrahul request to follow me? I decided to accept his request and I also requested to follow him back. After that, I decided to get ready for school or else I would miss my bus. I quickly got ready and got on my bus. As I was walking in the building, I received an Instagram notification. I decided to open it and I saw that Rrahul Sudhir accepted my follow request. I decided to go through his Instagram account during advisory. I quickly went to my locker. I entered my advisory after grabbing my books from my locker. I don't have any friends in my advisory, so I silently went to my seat and sat there. After my teacher took attendance, I decided to look through Rrahul's Instagram account. I started scrolling through his Instagram page and suddenly one of his posts caught my eye. The post was from Prom of 2019. The picture included three young handsome men. I only know two of them (Rrahul Sudhir and Sunny Raichand). Even though I don't know the third one, he is very attractive. Thankfully Rrahul tagged him, so I clicked the tag and it led me to his account. His name is Vansh Raisinghania. I started reading his Instagram bio, I realized that he graduated from my high school last year. And right now, he goes to Harvard. He had six posts, but his account was private. So, in order to view his posts, I would've to request to follow him. I don't know if I should follow him because he doesn't know me. The bell suddenly rang and my thoughts broke. I quickly switched off my phone and went to my next class.

My first four classes of the day went by very slowly, but lunch was finally here. My best friend and I usually eat lunch in the art room. So I quickly bought lunch from the cafeteria and walked into the art room only to see my best friend (Sejal) painting something. I tiptoed to her and hugged her from behind. She smiled and turned around.

Sejal - "Riddhima, where were you. I waited for you in the cafeteria for ten minutes, but you didn't come. So, I decided to come to the art room. By the way, what took you so long."

Riddhima - "Sorry Sejal. I had to ask my history teacher a question. Anyway, I want to tell you about a lot of things."

Sejal - "Ok. Come sit and then we'll talk."

Riddhima - "Sejal, so Rrahul Sudhir requested to follow me today. And..."

I rolled my eyes when Sejal interrupted me and started speaking in an excited tone.

Sejal - "OMG Riddhima, you're so lucky. I've liked Rrahul for so many years now and he requested to follow you. I can't believe it. He doesn't even accept my follow request, then how did he request to follow you?"

Riddhima - "Even I don't know why he requested to follow me. But, that's not important. Right now, I want some advice from you."

Sejal - "Oh ok. What do you need advice on?"

I tell her everything that happened this morning.

Riddhima - "So Sejal tell me, what would you do if you were in my place? Would you request to follow Vansh Raisinghania?"

Sejal - "Umm I don't know. But, I don't think it would be a big deal if you request to follow him since he probably receives several random follow requests every day. And plus you guys also have a lot of mutual followers. There's a huge possibility that he would accept your follow request. He might even request to follow you back."

Riddhima - "Actually, you're right Sejal. I should just request to follow him then. And we're not forcing him to accept my request it's his choice. If he declines my request, then I'll just move on and I won't request to follow him again."

I take my phone out of my bag and open my Instagram account. Taking a deep breath, I request to follow him.

Riddhima's POV

2 Weeks Later

Right now I'm sitting at a pizzeria, eating pizza. My family and I were very hungry after shopping which is why we decided to eat out today. As I was eating, my phone suddenly vibrates. I pick up my phone from the table only to see that I received two Instagram notifications. I decide to open the Instagram notifications. It says that someone named Vansh Raisinghania accepted my follow request and he requested to follow me back. I was about to look at his Instagram page, but my mom suddenly snatched my phone out of my hand.

Riddhima's Mom (Reena) - "Riddhima! Why can't you stay without your phone for even a second? What's so important in your stupid device? You're not going to get your phone back until we reach home."

I nod my head and start eating my pizza slice again. I decided to check his account when I get back home. After a long day, we finally get back home. I quickly change into my pajamas since it's almost my bedtime. After my mom gave me my phone back, I go to my room and lay down on my bed. I take my phone out of my pocket and go to the follow requests list. I decline all the follow requests, but I leave Vansh's request pending because I first wanted to check his page. As I was going through his page, I realized that he's the same guy whom I requested to follow after a lot of hesitation. A smile appeared on my face as I was looking through his posts. He posted pics with his friends and his family. I could see that he likes to spend time with his family unlike most college students in America. He had tagged his sister in a post. I realize that his sister goes to my school and she's a junior. She's two years older than me, so she wouldn't want to be my friend. But, I requested to follow her anyway. After accepting Vansh's follow request, I fall asleep.

2 Days Later

As usual, I'm in the art room with Sejal for lunch. For the past 30 minutes, I've been thinking about how I can text Vansh without being creepy? Unable to think of an idea, I decide to ask Sejal for an idea.

Riddhima - "Sejal. Can you please tell me what excuse I should use to text Vansh?"

Sejal - "Riddhima, I told you that you shouldn't text him. He probably won't be interested in talking to you because you're 14 and he's probably 18 or 19."

Riddhima - "I know. But, I just want to see if he'll reply."

Sejal - "If you don't want to listen to me, it's your choice. But, I believe that there's no point in texting him. He probably won't even reply."

Riddhima - "Actually, you're right. But Sejal, can you do me a favor?"

Sejal - "Yeah sure. What do you want me to do?"

Riddhima - "Can you request to follow Vansh and Rrahul?"

Sejal - "Sure."

Sejal took her phone out of her bag and requested to follow both of them.

Riddhima (smiling) - "Let's see if they'll accept your follow request."

Sejal - "Btw did his sister accept your follow request yet?"

Riddhima - "Yeah she accepted my request and she also followed me back."

Sejal - "Well that's good."

One Week Later

I sitting in my bus, looking out the window at the rainy weather. My phone rang and I picked up the call.

Riddhima - "Hi Sejal."

Sejal - "Riddhima, you can't imagine what happened. So, Rrahul accepted my follow request and he also followed me back. I've had a crush on him since a long time and he accepted my request. I'm so happy!"

Riddhima - "That's good. Did Vansh accept your request yet?"

Sejal - "Wait a sec. Let me check."

Sejal - "What the hell."

Riddhima - "What happened?"

Sejal - "Vansh declined my request even though I have so many mutual followers with him."

Riddhima - "Vansh also doesn't know me. Then I wonder why he accepted my follow request and followed me back."

Sejal - "Only he has the answer to your questions. Anyway bye, I'll talk to you later>"

Riddhima - "Bye"

So guys why do you think he declined Sejal's follow request, but accepted Riddhima's follow request and also followed her back?

Chapter 3

Author's POV

It had been two months since Vansh had accepted Riddhima's follow request and followed her back. Riddhima's screentime increased drastically because she started spending her free time on Vansh's account. She started to talk to the pictures of Vansh. Although Riddhima thought that she was falling in love with Vansh, she was actually getting obsessed with him. On a Saturday evening, she was sitting on the sofa and an idea crossed her mind. She quickly called Sejal.

Riddhima - "Hi Sejal!"

Sejal - "Hi Riddhima, you should really happy. Did something happen?"

Riddhima - "No, but today I'm going to text Vansh for the first time. I'm going to confess my love for him."

Sejal - "That's a really good idea Riddhima because you love him a lot and you're very beautiful so I'm sure that he'll also like you back."

Riddhima - "I know Sejal, but what should I text him. I've never talked to him and I've never confessed before. So what do you say in a confession?"

Sejal - "Don't worry Riddhima, I'm here. I'll help you out. Just keep the confession short and sweet. Just say 'Hi Vansh, this is Riddhima. I'm in love with you.'"

Riddhima - 'Thank you so much Sejal. I'm going to text him the exact same words you said."

Sejal - "No problem Riddhima. Good Luck."

Riddhima - "Thanks."

Saying that RIddhima hung up the call. It was 11:50 pm, almost midnight and Riddhima decided to text Vansh her confession. She went on Vansh's profile on Instagram and clicked the message option. She quickly typed out "Hi Vansh, this is Riddhima. I'm in love with you." After rereading the sentence, she clicked send. And sent a silent prayer to god. She couldn't stop smiling after she sent him the messages. An hour later, Riddhima opened her Instagram account hoping to have received a response. She opened the message and it didn't say seen. So she thought that he might have not seen the message yet. Riddhima then decided to look at his pics again, but what she saw next crushed her hopes. Vansh had blocked her. A notification that said "no user found" came up when she went to his account. A lone tear escaped her eye. She rushed to the washroom before her brother and parents could see her crying. Riddhima broke down in the washroom. She couldn't believe that her "true love" blocked her. "No. No. No. No. I need to talk to Vansh before he starts telling people that I love him. I don't want my parents to find out about this. If this spreads in school, then my parents will eventually get to know what I did. I can't let this happen. I need to talk to him" Riddhima thought. She quickly got up from the floor and washed her face so her parents wouldn't find out that she was crying. Riddhima quickly went to the living room and said good night to her parents and went to her room. In her room. she texted Sejal.

Riddhima - "Sejal, you won't believe what happened. Vansh blocked me. And what if he tells his sister about what I did and his sister tells everyone in the school what happened. You know my parents will be very mad at me if they find out. Please tell me what I should do."

After sending Sejal the message, Riddhima cried herself to sleep thinking about the consequences that she would face if her parents find out.

The Next Morning

Riddhima woke up the next morning and went downstairs to eat breakfast.

Reena (Riddhima's Mom) - "Riddhima, what happened to your eyes?"

Riddhima - "Nothing mom. They probably look like this because I didn't get enough sleep last night."

Reena (Riddhima's Mom) - "I've told you a million times to sleep early, but you never listen to me. From now on, you both should be in bed by 10 pm."

Sunny (Riddhima's Brother) - "Why do I have to sleep early, Mom? Riddhima is the one who didn't get enough sleep."

Reena - "Shut up, Sunny. You guys are both going to sleep early. End of discussion."

After eating breakfast, Riddhima checked Sejal's message. Sejal texted Riddhima the following message, "Don't worry Riddhima. I'm sure he won't tell people about it. But, now he knows that you love him and he doesn't feel the same way about you. So, let's create a fake chat in which I dare you to text Vansh. And then you should just create a new account using your real name and send him a screenshot of the fake chat. He'll probably believe you." Riddhima then called Sejal after reading the message and Sejal immediately picked up the call.

Riddhima - "Hi Sejal. Thank you so much for coming up with such a good idea."

Sejal - "You're welcome Riddhima. Anyway, so should we create the fake chat now?"

Riddhima - "Yeah."

Sejal and Riddhima end the call and make the fake chat. This is how the chat goes:

Sejal - "Truth or Dare"

Riddhima - "Dare"

Sejal - "Text a Punjabi guy that you love him."

Riddhima - "What? Who should I text"

Sejal - "Vansh Raisinghania"

Riddhima - "Ok"

Riddhima then takes a screenshot of the chat and makes a new account. After that, she sends Vansh the screenshot and along with that, she texts him "I'm so sorry for what I said yesterday. I don't love you. I just texted you that because of a dare. And please don't tell anyone about what I said because my parents will be very mad at me. Can you please unblock me? Btw if you forgot my user it's riddhimasharma14. Sorry again and please reply as soon as possible."

That's it for this chapter. Btw guys, Riddhima and Sejal are both 14 years old and in 9th grade which is why they aren't that mature.
