Hello Everyone. đ¤
Wrote another OS. This one is based on my take of how Riddhima finds a way to uncover the secret of the box.
Finding a Solution
Riddhima was pacing in the secret room behind the trap door of the bookshelf. The ornate box sat obnoxiously unperturbed in front of her as if daring her to unlock its secrets. At nearly midnight, she had wasted three hours in attempting to break open the insufferable thing with no success. Her new cellphone let out a sweet tune although she had no idea whose number it was. The lack of cellular contact with the outside world for several weeks had not helped one bit.
âHello,â she answered.
âHello, Sweetheart,â replied a deep baritone on the other end.
The hammer in her left hand dropped unceremoniously to the ground with a loud thunk. âVansh!â
âWhat was that noise?â demanded her husband.
âKuch nahin,â she said in slight panic and then mentally told herself to calm down. âI just dropped something.â
âItne shor se toh lagta hai tumhe ab tak neend nahin ayi,â surmised Vansh. âTumhare uljhano ka train kis station pe atka hai?â
âMatlab? Tumhe lagta hai main hamesha uljhi hui rehti hu?â
âSeedhi saadhi toh tum ho nahin, sweetheart. Issi liye toh tumse shaadi karli taaki saari umar tumhe dheere dheere suljha saku.â
Riddhima grew annoyed. âEk toh mujhse mile bina chale gaye aur ab itni der raat ko sirf mujhe sataane ke liye phone kiya. Kya tumhe aur koi kaam nahin hai?â
Her fingers tightened on the phone as she heard him chuckle. The desire to see his upturned lips and deep eyes was as sudden as it was fierce.
âRiddhima...kaam nahin hota toh tumse door kabhi nahin jaata,â came the soft admission.
She almost forgot to breathe. Earlier irritation completely forgotten, Riddhima sank into a dusty chair with glistening eyes. For a minute, both husband and wife continued to simply listen to each other breathing on the phone. Something delicate had just bloomed and neither wished to disturb its growth. Finally, unable to control herself, she let out a sniffle.
âVansh, tum wapas kab aaoge?â asked the lonely wife.
âMere na hone se tumhe farq parta hai - yeh baat tum chhupaane ki koshish karogi par tumhare pati se kuch nahin chhupta. Specially, agar woh baat tumse judi ho toh main usse mehsus kar leta hu. Ab batao, kuch hai na jo tumhe pareshan kar raha hai?â
âAcchi trick hai. Mere sawaal ka jawab apne sawaal se dena. Kya karoge agar maine jawaab nahin diya toh?â
âLagta hai ki tum chahti ho main poori raat tumhare baare mein soch soch ke bita du,â retorted Vansh. âIss dost ko itna haq bhi nahin dogi?â
Riddhima smiled without realising it. âZindagi mein mere apne bahut zyada nahin hai aur acche dost bohot hi kam. Tumhari dosti mere liye bohot maaine rakhti hai, Vansh. Tumhe tumhare is haq se niraash kaise kar sakti hoon main. Bas samajhlo ki kuch baat hai jisse jaan ne ke liye main besabar ho rahi hu par uss tak pohuchne ke liye koi raasta nahin mil raha.â
He let out a long sigh. âTumhe mana bhi karunga toh tum kahan maanogi. Bas itna samajhlo ke raasta khud se na mile toh madat maangni parti hai, ya toh dost se ya phir dushman se.â
A light bulb went off inside her head. âAur madat kaise maagni hai mujhe pata hai. Thank you, Vansh. Tumne meri problem solve kardi.â
âThat easily?â asked her perplexed husband. âMeri baaton ka tumpe itna asar hota hai?â
âHaan...matlab nahin....matlab bas...bas....tum jo chaahe samajhlo,â fumbled Riddhima. âTum so jao. Bohot raat ho gayi. Tumhari tabiyaat phir se bigad jayegi toh main yahan se kaise sambhalungi tumhe?â
âUff Sweetheart, itni khoobsurti se gussa dikhaogi toh kaise chalega. Waise, tumhara bhi haq hai. Toh apne sawaal ka jawab bhi sunlo. Main nahin bataaunga ki kab laut raha hu.â
She was angry again. âVansh!â
âMujhe tumse aise hi roz aadhi raat tak baatein karni hain,â demanded her inscrutable husband. âAur tumhari khoobsurat awaz mein mujhse na milne ki yeh tadap mehsoos karni hai. Tumhe aise tadpaane ka haq bhi mera hai. Hai na?â
She gasped. And then thanked her lucky stars this man was not here to notice the rapid beating of her heart. But if he thought he could get away with that so easily, he thought wrong. âAur meri awaz jab tak nahin sunoge tum khud tadpoge. Hai na?â
Things had come to a stalemate. Neither was in a mood to concede further tonight.
âApna khayal rakhna. Goodnight, Sweetheart,â said Vansh.
âTum bhi. Goodnight,â replied Riddhima with a soft smile.
She put away her cellphone as well as the hammer. Her husband had just given her an idea to tackle the mysterious box and she needed to plan for the day ahead.

Anupriya was having her morning tea in her room when she heard her step-daughter-in-lawâs voice outside her door. She quietly peeked through a gap in the door to see Riddhima looking here and there before whispering secretly into the phone. Growing anxious, the older woman sneakily followed the younger woman who walked a little ahead and then stopped at a corner.
âSejal, I couldnât believe my eyes when I saw what was in that box,â muttered Riddhima. âVanshâs mother is hiding such a big secret from everyone. Who could have guessed? But I know the truth now.â
Anupriya began to sweat. That blasted girl had managed to open the box. How was it possible! She needed to tell Kabir now!
âVansh trusts me now, Sejal,â continued Riddhima. âThatâs why he gave me this phone. He may be many things but he is very intelligent. Main usse agar saari cheezein dikhaongi toh un sabooton pe woh zaroor vishwas karega. Bas uske wapas aane ka intezaar hai. Tab tak maine saboot aise jagah chhupaya hai ki Maa kabhi uss tak pahuch nahin paayegi.â
No! That girl was right. She had searched Vanshâs room and found no trace of her box. Vansh was a man who valued definite proof. Before he returned, Riddhima had to be stopped. Anupriya quickly retreated to her own room. She needed help. She needed Kabir.
Riddhima watched her stepmother-in-law slink away from the corner of her eye. She then made an actual call. âSejal? Hi, kaisi hai? Mujhe teri madat chaahiye. Please aaja.â
Ultimately, having confirmed the meeting with her friend, she pocketed her phone and cheerfully walked downstairs.
âMadat toh aap karengi Ma,â thought Riddima. âAb aap koi galti karengi aur mere jaal mein phas jaayengi. Vansh sahi kehta hai. Jaal aisa ho jo dikhai na de. Ma, aap khud mujhe iss box ke raaz tak pohuchayengi. Yeh mera vaada hai aapse.â

Thatâs all. Thanks for reading.
