I don't blame them for their perspective, Ami. Our television industry lacks the creativity theirs has in terms of content. The best thing about the format of their productions is that they film the entire series before the transmission date, therefore there isn't any possibility of alterations to the script. There is no TRP race in Pakistan which is why their television industry is able to work wonders. In my honest opinion, shows like Naagin and Sasural Simar Ka have given the Indian television industry a bad rap. It's only our serials that are frowned upon. All our reality shows like KBC, Indian Idol, TKSS, and even Big Boss (don't ask me how) are popular there. 😊

I am surprised to know that BB is popular in Pak. I could not connect with the show.
I strongly feel that majority of audience is responsible and need to change.
Channels are catering to what audience want.
I try to follow the TRP list every week and I am always surprised with the shows topping the TRP charts.
If you see the story, the shows are going in loop and loop.

The breaking news, Naagin 3 is going to come soon...😆😆 and now there will be new Naggins...

Mish, the following are the leading Pakistani channels that air dramas daily:
  • Hum
  • Geo
  • ARY
  • Urdu One
  • A Plus
  • PTV
  • Express
  • TV One
  • Aaj
The following are the leading Indian channels that air serials on a daily and bi-weekly basis:
  • Colours
  • Star Plus
  • Zee
  • Sony
  • Star Bharat
  • Life OK
  • SAB
  • MTV
  • Channel V
The number of channels are almost the same on both sides if you were to draw comparisons. I think the Pakistani industry is aware of its limitations and is willing to work around those limitations. India, on the other hand, has an industry that earns revenue in the thousand crores. There's a very obvious basis for this greed, unfortunately. I see the digital medium bringing about a change in the Indian industry as well, but producers like Ekta Kapoor will continue churning the same bizarre nonsense to satiate their audience that compromises of the TRP aunties in both regional and urban demographics. 😕 We can only hope that new channels are launched on television that will satisfy the urge for unique and sensible content. Let Colours, Star Plus, and Zee continue catering to the whims of their audience while other channels are made available to the rest of us. I honestly think that it might do the Indian television industry some good to hire a creative team from Pakistan compromising of their top directors and writers by venturing out into the finite format. I'm sure they'd have interesting storers to tell in India as well! 😊

Thanks for sharing that link, Mish! 🤗 I'm excited to watch Saif and Madhavan on the digital medium with a quality script.

I like the idea of hiring the Pak story writers and directors for an Indian show.
Since the show are finite, it is so good to see all actors in one frame. Direction is par excellence.
Even in high emotional dramas they capture the beauty of the place.

Ladies, thanks for the articles and detailed comparison. Good to know ins and outs of the entertainment world.
