Fiction is based on a variety of themes which hold a universal appeal for readers some common ones that I came across were heroism, love sustained and faded, journey , war and peace, hopelessness, generation gap conflicting views of young and old, power ,lust for power ,betrayal, family ,destiny, duty , deception verses reality ,co-existence of good and evil, alienation , emotional isolation, vulnerability of both the weak and strong, exploitation of the meek, and last faith and personal spirituality .Believe it or not the countless times when I have given up on Ishq when things were and still are not going my way is astounding. Still as I mind mapped some fictional story lines I am taken aback to note that there are many themes recurring in the Ishq story line. The title of the take is laced with a debilitating sense of isolation and betrayal for Viplav as he returns to his family only to discover skeletons have been pulled out of the family closet. He stands struck by a blow of betrayal by his own family . They kept him in isolation about his god like dada ji's sinful side tracked activities. Suddenly Viplav suffers a fall from grace and fortune as his birthright is handed over to Tripurari . Viplav's cry, he is the last to know! breaks our hearts too! We wonder if he will be able to tap his inner strength. Conjure up his past self help drive! to find the right judgement between justice and injustice..? yes the episode is all about the male protagonist Viplav who appears to me thoroughly wronged by the ways of the world.
Semi drugged he is, but clear enough in the brain to gather his captivity ends, but his freedom shows him some high drama within his fold of which he was not aware off. Changes beyond his imagination! his idol, his dadi ji the head of his family decrees Tripurari as his blood and rightful heir to his estate. Its not just the drugs that render Viplav numb it's the decision. Kamini's words wind up Viplav, artfully the vixen arouses the somewhat sluggish lion's sense of justice and injustice ! forces Viplav to face , there goes the illegitimate issue! usurping the right of the legitimate! see for himself masks drop from the faces of his loved ones! Surely he will challenge this cooked up conspiracy? She has to insinuate that things have been churning on well before his sudden disappearance. For in egging and coercing Viplav on, Kamini s strategy she picked up from Dashrant, is to use others to do her dirty work in a ripe situation without letting her hands get mucky! here it comes into play! to let others carry out her conspiracies on her behalf. One of which is in role of a daughter in law to split this family! divide and rule! Viplav however makes a move to defend the rights of the wronged woman he loves! his dadi! tongue in cheek though the foxy woman checks Viplav's advance in the name of family reputation! but on the contrary she achieves what she wants fires shots using Viplav's shoulder.
Do the gods approve of the embrace between two of a kind? Viplav steps on holy ground as Dashrant hugs his illegitimate son Tripurari. Suddenly all seems right in the eyes of the world and who knows the gods too approve of the sinner Dashrant's act of remorse by marrying Durga eventually? But Viplav too comes to gods sanctuary seeking answers from the man who all his life Viplav thought to be infallible.. dada ji! Dashrant over Tripurari's shoulder beholds the light of his household Viplav! the name that comes to stir and not calm.. Viplav the name that now rouses and wakes all present in the temple! Dashrant , his second wife Durga ,Tripurari his once illegal but now legal son! Viplav walk into the temple slowly here is one controversial nuptial he fails to stop.. but surely he has right to question it's validity ? this then a is progression of events in Mumbai shock wave for Viplav ..
Elsewhere in Mumbai too, another wedding and events leading up to it are underway.Maharashtarian pre-wedding rituals are being celebrated to herald the big chawl wedding. Dhani sits for the engagement ceremony ready to be publically spoken for Parshiya. Pratibha celebrates the typical customs of presenting her would be bahu with the symbolical married woman green sari and bangles!.. Dhani jumps through the hoops.. she is of sane mind but amid a crowd of laughter and mirth her heart is still intoxicated with the love of that man who bathed her in colours years ago Viplav her Ishq.. Dhani's eyes well up is it true one only loves once? Parisya gives Dhani a besotted look.. another beautiful pre- wedding custom sakarpura is celebrated! It's an event where both the groom and brides families confirm verbally before all they give and accept each others child in marriagehence the smiling Pratibha offers her son over to Dulari to be her son in law and Dulari offers her daughter Dhani to be betrothed to be married with Parshiya .. is this cvs spanner in the works.. should Viplav arrive and Dhani attempts to pull out of the wedding seeing Viplav is alive?In that case Dulari will strum the tune she gave her word of honour to Pratibha that Dhani would be Parshiya's wife?
Viplav's call doesn't go unnoticed..all to well Dashrant registers it, spontaneously responds by the endearment Viplav babaa! But the injured lion is not taken in by the show of affection. To him the scenario is like catching a thief committing a theft of familial honour! Thus Viplav exercises his right by firing questions upon one who calls him his. Viplav's eyes defy him ,his mind boggles is this true what his dada ji proclaims? Dashrant has not a leg to stand on .Tripurari attempts to sound off like always Viplav ignores him! its his dadi ji he wants not him! Tripurari appeals to Viplav's compassion , makes him see his mother suffered in silence all her life today she gets her right as being Dashrant's second wife and he his son who craved for his fathers name all his life! Viplav muses should he give way as he respects women especially vulnerable women.. he needs the wisdom of the gods to guide him. his dada ji will have to speak up for himself verbalise if Tripurari is his blood or not ? no one else testimony will do neither this Tripurari.. as for Durga mai his discussion is not with her.. the lion wants the answer of blood line from Dashrant but what can Viplav's role model ,his iconic hero say? his silence speaks volumes to Viplav...
Home is where the heart is,Viplav leaves gods house and enters his own home. His beloved princess receives him with open arms, and questions of where was he all this time?.By now bitterness has set in him and he shares his cynicism with the woman he loves most in this household the woman who taught him all the good things he knows. Had he not vanished how would the biggest secret be exposed? His riddle like answer perplexes both his mother and dadi then in walks Dashrant with his new wife and son and all is clear.. to Viplav by the faces of the women at home. Yes there is surprise but not deep shock. Viplav suddenly feels desolate isolation around himself. Viplav notes, Dadi too has nothing to say about her husband's illegitimate son exactly like her husband! plans, plots ,puzzles and riddles in Viplav, in Banaras!
In Mumbai rituals upon her mother and babba happen before everyone ..it's no secret Vidha ,her dadi and babba are over the moon about this marriage.. good things ,good omens herald in Dhani's life !but when on Vidha's request her babaa puts green bangles on Dhani's wrist, Dhani yet again recalls her beloved Viplav putting bangles on her wrist.. Parshiya is unsure of her quiet.. was she happy by now Vidha who achieves the most out of this marriage speaks for her mother sure she is happy as she can be! But does Dhani too in mumbai have a secret in her heart ?
Dadi may be quiet but Viplav's mother was never the one not to call a spade a spade. She confesses yes Tripurari is dashrant's illegitimate son , but this they were unaware that his dadji was so desperate to give him his name so speedily that he would marry his mother Durga. The feeling of alienation descends Viplav so looks like everyone knew about this except him. he feels totally inadequate and his being feels useless as he cries to his dadi how could she put up with this injustice? had she mentioned it all but just once he wouldn't have let things come to this... basically he protests to his dadi she suffered in silence what she deserved not... dadi cries out for the sake of family honour she sealed her lips. Thus challenges Viplav, the hypocritical , deceitful family honour.all here giving lip service to false respectability. Viplav cries .. as far as he can see a man trusts his family trusts the most ,feels safest with his family but his family has betrayed him and cheated him! Dashrant whom Viplav thought of him as his god , cheated the family by having an illicit relationship with Durga and having a son with her.. whilst he was married to Sushma! By his dadi and mother too he felt let down... so now there is nothing else for him to do but walk out of this family that loves in their bubble of respectability and uprightness! He'd ' rather leave then talk to his dada ji the man has nothing to say?? Viplav does tell his dadi where he plans to go to..dhani the only sincere person in his life? ahhh not quite for kamnii and dadi both keep the complete truth from him that Dhani is marrying Parshiya and not at his disposal any more...this is issue. Keep Viplav in the dark. Dadi seals her lips regards Dhani lest Viplav receives another shock!and Kamini only drops hints like shows him Parshiya's selfie of small happy family! which Viplav dismisses as outing shot meaning nothing... here in his house reality has become unreal and what she shows him is just a photo ..she doesn't know Dhani as well as he does... heart break heads Viplav's way . When in a frenzy the heart seeks calm.. and his tranquillity lies with dhani.. hence he lives this family ,breaks all bonds never to return! It's Dhani who he heads for! Kamini curses herself for bad timing! She had hoped to send a whipped up Viplav to Dhani after her marriage... now what? hope Viplav doesn't stop the marriage of the year! Dhani weds Parshiya !
To me the episode belongs to Mishal what a fine actor.. just the right amount of attention , emphasis and pathos to the role..great timing and disciplined performance at all time.Mind you its a favorite theme that some crucial truth,seceret is hidden from the protagonist whilst all the charcters knowall about it ..its called creating confusion to keep things moving along...
