IKRS Tuesday 9th February 2016 ep 159 My Take.. playing gooseberry!
Lovers all over the world dread one thing.. another person between them especially during the time they ear mark for themselves. Many idioms spring to mind when I watched today's episode Kanak playing the gooseberry between Viplav and Dhani. She is the fifth wheel! The third person in a waltz! , being the third in a duet sung by Dhani and Viplav! and certainly she forces herself in the Banyan tree outing scene as the crowd between the couple! Kanak the hitch hiker!
Smooth transition over , pass the precious cat over to Phool Chand and release his precious lioness from the jaws of the hyena Phool Chand who feeds on the dispirited forced alms of the poor. But short lived is his greedy appetite as Dashrant demands the gold cat back from Phool Chand . For Dashrant is not really and truly offering the gold cat to the temple. It is merely done to save his own good name before the public eye that him and his household offered to help their would be daughter in law . From Phool Chand he snatches the gold cat that comes from his the wealth, on the pretext that , donation coming from other than Dhani he cannot accept as an offering. Thus ends the story of the cat..
But a cat has nine lives, this one may have suffered as set back but there is no doubt she will resurrect herself and strike Dhani again! However Kanak too needs to off load her failures on someone and who better than tripurari her comrade in dark deeds. He taunts her that Viplav and Dhani emerge stronger after attack . Kanak moans she had planned to blackmail Dhani for scrounging off Viplav . But instead she has emerged out of the cat killing incident as unscathed.
Viplav at the ashram gives a helping hand ,anything to be close to Dhani! decides to help her in shelling peas , cutting aubergines and carving funny faces on it just to catch one glimpse of her smile. Ofcourse a man involved in food preparation and that to the future son in law of the ashram does not go down very well with dulari and her sexist attitudes! But Viplav too has an answer for everything ,emotional black mail , she calls him son and won't even let him work! Dhani bosses him , he's to shell the peas and she'll cut the vegetables. He challenges ,does she think he can't chop veggies? reminds her he catered for himself when he was at uni in Delhi. Lovingly he swoops shelling peas with her and takes to cutting vegetables. Dhani worries, he'd better leave it as he'll cut himself! and he does! Dhani's reflex action is to suck the blood off his hand. In the main it is a sensuous action , but Viplav sees it as an act of deep care and endearment . She rips the side of her pallu and wraps his finger in a bandages ,it feels to him he has made the right choice in selecting this simple ordinary girl as his life partner. He looks at her with hooded eyes, yes she will take good care of me all my life. Priceless she is .. more than all the gold ,gems and riches of this world the one for me muses Viplav.. with a smile.. I am no longer who I was before ,she has immersed me in the colour of pure love.. Viplav is for more of her tender loving care! pretends to shave off his finger with a knife which she finds obnoxious ! he pulls her arm ,she resists and he draws her closer across the bench and tells her he has something to show her! pulls out the card and says it's their wedding card ,but the date is blank! One look at her blank face as he possibly knows the girl cant read! But she can decode the invitation , the motifs ,the gold letterings! For Viplav watches she smiles and lowers her eyes.. her bashfulness and perhaps the idea of the big day causes her unease too, so as he looks at the card.. Viplav compels himself to tell her straight in plain simple words, that Dhani I trust you completely, I love you the most in this world. Trust you the most. So I will wait for all my life ..he says dreamily so as not to scare her away from the serious ritual of life- long commitment. Afer thought he adds with a glint of mischief, However he wants her to add the date.. simply because he can sleep peacefully at night.. perhaps counting days, instead of sheep! She says, will do. But like a task master she draws his attention back to food preparation , but he instead takes a green chilli and tickles her nostrils with it and she gives him a scowl instead! The wedding card date left blank shows Viplav's sensitivity towards the fact that the idea remarriage can be daunting for Dhani. In the past too she has had phases when she has backed out of the idea. Hence his gentle approach with the reassurance that she is the one for him and for her he'll wait till eternity . so whenever she is ready..
Seeing Viplav and Dhani's playful interaction in the courtyard. Kanak decides to whip up Raj laxmi against who else Dhani of course. Taunts her she and Dhani will find a nice boy for her as well. Then incites her by drawing her attention to Viplav and Dhani having innocent fun in the court yard. Pity though your friend Dhani is so immersed in her lover that she has no time for you! she's found her life partner , she rustles up poor Rajlaxmi.. with a sullen face... what's to become of you then Rajlaxmi? Tell you what Rajlaxmi , when I set my eyes on you I remember the days ofmy youth. But don't you worry if your friend doesn't help then I will surely do so not to worry, stirs up Kanak!
But the sight of Viplav having fun with Dhani causes her much torment. She comes down the stairs ,marches across to viplav and Dhani fuming. Stops beside a smiling Viplav and cruelly twists his ear lobe, and asks has decided to live here? He replies innocently ,he was just helping her. His mother retorts there's no need for that and decrees just go and hear this till you don't get married you will not be coming to the ashram! and you won't meet Dhani either and he goes wot!! she slaps his stubble cheek gently and warns him, understood? or shall I make you understand! Kanak shows him to the door literally throws him out but he too parks before the open ashram door and Dhani glares at him to go! but he was in mood to leave!till his mother shuts the ashram door on his face!.Forlorn Viplav leaves for home with heavy feet. Kanak the black cat will stick to her agenda of keeping this Dhani away from her son Viplav! But then Viplav too is the son of drama queen and he stops mid way spins on his heel says ,you got be joking if you think you'll keep us apart maa! till you are here at the ashram like sergeant major! your smart son Viplav is to think of new ways to meet Dhani!..
Viplav sneaks a note for Dhani through Rajlaxmi , content that she will read it to her and his mother won't get hold of it , but as Rajlaxmi reads it Kanak hears the content... to meet her near the Banyan tree ner the temple and she'd better turn up otherwise he'll become an ascetic for her. Dhani looks at the present he gave her in her birthday and has FBs of his poems. Rajlxami gives her the note and bids her that Viplav wants her to wear the sari he gave her. Viplav buys red bangles for Dhani and tells his mate love has made him a bit mad. Dhani is dressed and ready to leaves and seeks her mother's permission. Kanak black mails her by her sob story , no one loves her ,she is destined to stay in the ashram she so unlucky. Dhani out of compassion asks her to accompany her to. Which is what this Kanak , three's a crowd wanted So Kanak forces herself upon Dhani. Viplav is pleased to see Dhani ,but not too pleased to see his mother!Kanak tells himDhani forced her to come.Viplav glares at Dhani.Kanak tries her level best to be a nuisance says her leg hurts. Viplav tends to it but then he goes to get tea. Dhani takes over. Once Kanak realizes she has infiltrated between them well and proper,. She feigns a head ache and says she'll walk home on her own doesn't want to spoil their fun.By now she gives Dhani the guilt trip who doesn't want to stay either. Viplav drives them home stops before the ashram in a mood. Dhani wishes for him to come in for tea .But he refuses in a sulk . Dhani spots the bangles inthe box. He is sore faced she asks about the bangles wanted them, but he says its to hang in the car,. dhani wants to talk to him but Kanak calls her for help at the ashram steps due to her sore leg! Viplav drives off in a huff! Both of them in their own homes have love conversations with each other using their personalized artefacts of their love. Content apologies ..dhani for not being able to spend time with him.. and Viplav apologizing for overreacting like a love torn puppy all because he wants to spent time with her..
Overall a light episode. It was expected as the cat got all of us.. we needed a good helping of Viplav and Dhani bonding. Mind you the black cat of hell was hovering around them.. never mind they still soldier on. Waiting for Viplav to step on the cat's tail! Hamlet53 10.2. 16
