Preparing and sharing a meal with others is an acclaimed tradition in many cultures. Breaking bread with others shows a warm union between the host and the guest. The episode also places emphasis on how as humans we look at food the associations we have about what looks palatable and what doesn't. Thus food, it's presentation, hospitality, dietary restrictions are touched upon in the episode. how to tackle susceptibility is also dealt with in this episode.
A new day dawns and the resilient women of the Ashram go about their routine chores of the Ashram. Viplav had gone, with him around there was a naughty buzz of activity. Now it seems the widows have to make their own buzz to dispel the boring grind. Inderani loses her glasses and can't see clearly. Rajlaxmi grabs the opportunity and pulls out some humour from the situation.. Questions the impairment of Babi amma's vision! But then emerges Viplav's replacement, Jhumki! With the misplaced spectacles, pretending to be badi amma! Jhumki 's antics causes a titter among the white brigade ,and they widows laugh. Jhumki actually gets a spontaneous cuddle from Dulari.. Dulari likes the girl, she reminds her of Dhani and her mischiefs when she was Jhumki's age..Now she takes unkindly to Dhani's very few frivolous turns. She expects Dhani too behave moderately in fact sombre and sober. As Dhani is not a child. She is a young widow! but for new for little Jhumki's sake Dulari allows,Dhani to take the girl child for a walk. Seems Dulari discerns the girl child to be of little cause for anxiety.. that comes when the girl child grows up...like Dhani her young widow daughter..
Vilplav somehow now is deaf to the callings of his family.. something is amiss with him. Kanak wants to phone her son. Dashrant says dryly. He's at a place from where he can't reply ,meaning his mother's supplications and molly coddling are meaningless to him .Kanak as usual only questions Dashrant say,. meaning the Ashram? Dashrant refuses to answer her, as he wants her to approach him with solutions rather than questions.. dashrant muses..
One thing is for sure Viplav couldn't reform the widows's life. Dashrant assumes. But the widows have completely changed Viplav. yes the young man has now had exposure to the real world. kanak says, is it a good thing? Dashrant has no answer. Kanak as his mother, better act fast before Viplav makes that place into his in laws house .
Hark who knocks at the Ashram door? friend, foe or a holy beggar? in saffron robes his face covered with a knotted beard, dreadlocks Rajlaxmi , the designated Ashram door keeper opens the door and before her stands a charged up infused saddhu! Straightaway he greets her, and spots her passion for dance! Entices her, he comes to predict her future which is bright! He can tell by looking at her face that she loves dancing. He prophesies, she'll be a great dancer of Benaras.. He says he never lies! He enters and sits on a bed. Raj laxmi, kneels before him on the ground.. Gradually all the widows spill out of their rooms and are attracted to him. They bow before him and settle on the floor looking upon his holy presence in devotion. Inderani about to bend is rebuked by him, not to, as he knows she has bad aching knees! Rajlaxmi wants to know how can she become a big dancer! He replies she'll have to fast for seven days! No eating not even water, and cook him special meals. Then she will achieve her heart's desire. The sadhu looks directly in Dulari's eyes and reveals to her he knows she has a daughter, about whom she is forever anxious! Dulari confesses, yes she worries about her daughter as she's a young widow! The holy beggar replies, .. He replies no need to worry about your daughter, she's brave, although she's a bit daft, feisty , tells others off in little things! And Dhani looks at the sadhu.. He sounds very familiar.. Dhani returns, Jhumki runs in excited, tells everyone, Dhani bought her new clothes! The sadhu looks at Dhani.. As she stands by the front door Dulari calls to receive blessings from the holy man, tells her to greet the sadhu she does and kneels down before him.. with hooded eyes the sadhu eyes looks down at her and then moves his big kajal lined eyes up as she stands up. Then he reveals, as this girl drew close to him he sensed that this girl complains a lot! she tries to be everyone in the Ashram 's big mamma! tells people off over every little thing! he's right isn't he? he asks the girl and feebly she admits.. yes. He reveals only when she stops these things will she get blessed by god ! he is suddenly filled with a revelation! The widows listen as he bellows, this Ashram is gripped by shani! to get it free they'll have to do puja which will cost money. Dulari cries out, they don't have that kind of money! he says in that case shani will create an upheaval in your life ! Dhani says what is the guarantee that after the puja they will rid themselves their of problems.? He booms angrily , this girl dared to oppose him, question him! I curse her! Dhani says, babba ji god doesn't threaten his devotee! Nor does he ask for money ..then why are doing this ??sorry they don't want any worship done so plz leave . Sadhu jerks up to his feet he is going now! but before he does, kaki want to say your buchiya has indeed become very wise! and is not open to gullibility. Viplav dons the sadhu look to check how gullible the widows would be before a holy. He knew they are godly and practice their faith strongly. To be duped into giving large sums or monies,or any monies to roving sadhus is something they can be easily led into.But to his delight ,the one whom Viplav cherishes the most is the one who spots the guile in his disguise and asks him to leave! but up until Dhani arrives , they all fell for his act.What a performance! It was a practical task Viplav was marking them on.. and young feisty, bundle of compliants Dhani got a A*in the exam! Inderani pulls his beard, dread locks and all are delighted to see Viplav .only Dulari taunts what was the need to disguise himself,he could have come as he is , but they know he has wheels under feet, he can't get rid of the Ashram! she says sarcastically. Viplav sunbs her back, he didn't quite know what she meant but it sounds good that's why he has returned. Viplav teases Jhumki does she joke like him? and she says yes.. he says he's starving Dhani says she'll make him boiled potatos , jhumki yells, she wants chau chau she describes noodles and the widows try to decode the food. Viplav allows the widows to take outrageous guesses. Was it some non veg food? Jhumki describes how noodles look.. long and stringy! Sita maa asks Jhumki does she eat snakes? chow mein Viplav puts the widow out of their misery and ends their game.. but Raj already knows it's Chinese food but doesn't want people to know.. she ate it probably on the sly with Suvarna as she Raj is not one to deny small indulgences.. Dulari stops Dhani going with viplan tells her to make tea for him
Triprari served morning tea by Durga. Getsa shock that Viplav has returned from the Ashram. turns the Krishna radha/ Rama Sita painting around and pins Kanak's pictue on his lit list. Revisits his modes operandi.. how to get access to Guru dev he spilt from Kanak from him' then, sent Viplav to the Ashram. Everything was according to plan... Viplav living with widows.. then how come he has returned? Viplav sits on his chest like a snake.. funny Tripurari should say that, as the snake in the grass is Tripurari himself.. without one knowing he strikes!
This scene brings out a few issues to me. How not to go hungry.. a quick snack in between, to keep hunger at bay! Or is it to introduce processed food to the widows who eat organic food.Or is this scene there to show tolerance to one's personal choice of preparing food .taking into account what people prefer to eat due to personal belief?Or is it to challenge other's preference of what they can and cannot eat?? or to celebrate a man cooking? In Ashram jhumki plays hop scotch.. Viplav says, he couldn't find cooked noodles the shop is closed.. so brought packet ones ..offers to make them. dietary needs issue is brought out , faith wise. he says but they are made of pure flour.. but Sita maa still worries about them being cooked in their kitchen. Dhani gives a way out boiled potatoes! The girl doesn't want boiled potatoes ! Viplav takes a hands on decision.. just, makes a hearth with bricks and sticks and bosses Dhani to get a pot and he makes noodles again a man cooking.. making adjustments in a situation keeping all happy! quick and easy meal.. tells the girl to serve Sita maa, who looks at the texture of the noodles and cringes at the texture. they look like earthworms! Viplav teaches them how to eat noodles.. later he says he'll bring ladoos. Has a runs in with Dulari and he leaves..
No one will take Dhani for a ride now.. Out dealing with the flower man, Dhani negotiates the price about flowers, the price she wants. Tells Rajlaxmi will get full for the labour they put in making flower garlands. Will not comprise or settle for any less than what they are due.. Even takes the advance money for future stock.. Viplav's training now pays off for the widows..
Again another fun family viewing episode.. I think it's clean. Light-hearted and non- violent, that's why it's a great show doing so well..yes.. yes.. Mishal/Eisha too.. I loved his sadhu look, his eyes in particular looked great.. over all Mishal to me was a dishy yes complete with hair etc.. holy begging man.. Hamlet53. 30.10.15..
Precap: Kanak asks Viplav who are the two extra plates for? Tripurari brings in his mother Durga.. Viplav says if these people live with us , then they'll eat with us too.. Kanak mocks Dashrant . Seems like Viplav is going to create a new problem for you.. break the spell of the Ashram from Viplav's mind ! pressurizes Kanak, Dhashrant ..otherwise too much musing will render Viplav out of control. Some women visit the Ashram saying they have been sent by tripathi ji.. it's very well kept and spacious enough to work in.. how much space do you have in the Ashram ? asks the visitor. Indrani says they didn't need to know.. Dulari says , did they come to place an order ,or to survey the place. The woman phones and informs Dashrant she and her friend went to the Ashram and his job has been done. ..
