Within my own mind without a doubt both this episode and the one that follows after this stem from the saying, seeing is believing! How as human beings we arrive at our judgements based on the first instances we behold before our bare eyes.Through our vision we take in information and translate it into some meaning ,depending on the how our brain and reasoning skills interprets it. generally we take issues ,people situations on the face of it. however as I can see through the high drama and high degree of misinterpretation and misunderstanding some reading between the lines wouldn't have gone a miss.. the episode is also about dreams ambitions aspirations, wants and needs.
Further more, in terms of the happy go lucky ,Viplav, it throws light upon the gravity of the situation he ends up in. He is filled with a deep sense of being wronged, based upon the pretext of not being consulted. The decision of his engagement with Tania is based on assumptions. Does Viplav this realize now that one's actions speak louder than words?? that people draw conclusions by what they see about themselves.With regards to both Viplav and Tania.. the episode also shows how to get out of messy situations by saying the right things at the right place..
Opening scene shows a highly agitated Viplav..with the feeling that everyone knew about his engagement except him.So the pathos for Viplav begins ,despite his laid back attitude to life.. we feel sorry that he is engulfed in a situation where he feels anger! but that which he has to kept under check. For this is not only his engagement but more importantly so it's his sister engagement too. For her sake he has to curb the dramatics to avoid unpleasantness... however his own mother who bore him he will approach.. she will surely have the answers. To his mother he can rave and rant.. Mum how can you do this? you didn't even ask me if I am interested in this bond! This isn't a birthday party that you're giving me a surprise, it's the question of my life! you could have asked me once?? complains Viplav. Kanak asks are you not happy , no I am not happy! why ? what's the problem? you both love each other! Viplav argues, the problem is that not once did it occur to anyone of you to ask Viplav if is interested in this liaison or not! so here he creates a subtle gap between him and his family. he appears to blame them.. Kanak replies, but why would we? you looked interested in each you, stay at her place in Delhi , bring here with you to stay at our house! what are we supposed to conclude? does Viplav now realize what he has left himself open to? Kanak then says the ultimate line.. Besides Viplav, say what you have to say to babu ji.. just remember that he took the maun varat for your happiness, don't break his heart for the second time. just be aware.. that's what Dashrant and Kanak both do emotionally black mail Viplav . poor Viplav still cries out Mother help me!
Female number two ..Tania sensitive to atmosphere flies to investigate, with her caring wings.. Viplav looks around angered, baffled , suspecting foul play , and disillusioned.. but he has to find answers and Tania his close friend.. the girl he's being engaged with will surely shed some light on this whole engagement farce! she assures him she knew nothing about it..she lies and Viplav has no reason to suspect her ,as she was his close friend.. in fact good ole'Tania even agrees with..that they need to establish their career.. as always he considers Tania's suggestion.. let the engagement happen, and she would defer the proposed engagement till they both meet their career ambitions and aspirations ..what a pity Viplav failed to see, that Tania here refers to her engagement with Viplav, while he meant his sisters engagement. In the main she led him to believe she supports him in achieving career apirations! he thinks she's fantastic! that she'll support him in both establishing their career first..Tania wants him to believe that he can depend on her to bail him from this strange misunderstanding that seems to have latched on him. While Viplav is just too straight for his own good.. Tania in her slight tweaking of this situation will lead herself into realizing her dream! with her manipulative mil Kanak again she has the upper hand, when she discloses a slightly adapted fact to her that Viplav and her both are not in a hurry to tie the knot.. but more can be discussed on the topic after the engagement.. By the words of her mouth..Tania makes out confirmation from both Viplav and herself for their engagement.. alongside Tania breaks off the might of Kanak's power by refusing Kanak's attempt at buying her, by showing her preference to dadi's simple necklace. Taina also points out that she is aware of the cold war between Kanak and dadi.. Seemingly Viplav is set free from the engagement between him and Tania.. but the reality is that he will be mentally engaged in the agenda of this happy occasion.
Seeing is believing.. the two women smile at each other, while Viplav tenders an apology to his mother, from far for his insolence. Tania, misleads Kanaak into believing that Viplav accepts engagement but not a rushed marriage! All this is done courtesy of Kanak's handiwork! Now both mother and son eat out of her hand!.. to a simpleton Viplav she takes him out of his misery as she tells him she has convinced his mother not to force us into marriage rightaway!! Again Viplav gets boisterous in his expression and yet again gives Tania gets a tight hug which gives the onlookers especially his mother into believing in what she sees..
Seeing and believing.. making a wish upon the sighting a shooting star at Dhani's ashram! a making wishing upon it, is typical in the nature of these girls.. Rajlaxmi wishes selfishly for a man to set free her from the prison of the ashram, while Dhani wishes for their collective happiness of the time when their ashram is granted back to them .The shooting star at viplav's house is Viplav himself! who begins to smart with the effects of being pressurized by his family..
Dhani too believes in what others see about them.. widows clad in white, inauspicious and cursed in society at large. She faces her reality .Passing her life, walking on the strict and consistent in rules of fasting, offering her devotion to her god. Rajlaxmi on the other hand wants to show people that they are not cursed and stigmatized and as such does want to participate in people's happy occasion. But Dhani says Tania may not think widows as being cursed ,but the society around her at large does!.. now not it's up to us as widows to ensure that our presence at Tania's house doesn't make the event go sour for her.. as usual Dhani looks out for others happiness rather than a personal good time for the self! like Rajlaksmi .. and goes off to the mandir..
Seeing is believing shalini's ring ceremony Dashrant's family smothering Ram's family with a show of wealth.. all done under the backing of their one and only daughter 's engagement! Hence the justification of pomp and fair and grand ceremony! the diamond ring for Ram stands as a huge discrepancy of status between the families.. it had to be so, for Dashrant to maintain his power balance of his might upon the vulnerable. In a way he keeps hold of shalini from this house to the other.. the song and dance adds to the general flavour of the occasion.. one sees two couples involved in the dance performance, one already engaged and the other two assumed by all both families involved to follow suite too.. except one person, Dashrant 's grandson Viplav who dances with much mirth and merriment with his very close friend Tania..
Seeing and believing.. that others are more needy then she is?Dhani at the mandir .. breaks her fast by offering her food to the needy and the starved mother and daughter. The pair must have reminded her of her mother and herself. Her fast is for the good of others around her.. whilst Dashrant 's maun vrat.. is aimed to create emotional disruption and anarchy around him, be they his family too..
Kanak's speech originally about her daughters engagement.. also reveals the other good news for her.. the engagement of her son Viplav with Tania .. which the girl's family, and all of the boys family receive with great joy.. the shooting star Viplav... cannot believe his ears or eyes! but the fact is that he is lied to yet again. People see his out and out consent in this matter. He stands helplessly and hopelessly trapped in the fetters of good manners, politeness and good behaviour decorum. Then what of respectfor elders from both sides. It has to be paid. Dashrant breaks his maon vrat.. his manipulative plan succeeds! and the best part is that except for Tania and Kanak, no one suspects his dangerously subtle mastermind behind the plan. Dashrant gives a courageous hand and powerful shove to Viplav , seemingly tender, but inwardly savagely cold. Viplav like a dead man struck down by some clandestine conspiracy goes for the ceremony.. rings are exchanged and the ceremony over.. Viplav goes into a phase of silence. what struck him and why? he was unaware off all that happens but he loathes it! and feels disconnected with his close friend and his family? his lost eyes look for them, but they appear strangers and he begs leave, sit in his jeep and sped out of his house.. to gather himself..
Tripurari ,the eyes upon Vipla's back. notice him sped by but chose to drink rather than chase.. he would rather Dashrant die with grief.. Dashrant who forgets to include him in the happy occasion yet again.. suffer Dashrant! suffer!! like you make my mother and me suffer by disowning us before society. Tripurari can never be Viplav the apple of your eyes..
Seeing is believing..! before devi maa's eyes.. This holy ground by the shores of the Ganges.. becomes the meeting point.. for a faint Dhani and a sick at heart Viplav. Dhani releases the little diva on to the waters of the Ganges.. from the edge of the last step of mata's mandir.. the diva floats with the little light.. that is her.. giving and spreading light to the darkness all around giving light where it is needed. The broken, cheated and let down with his dark life .. needed her little light to live.. but.. She passes out at the steps of the mandir at the edge of the Ganges.. On the pier stands Viplav! he grinds away angrily ,how all knew of his engagement except him!!. while everyone believed in what they just saw.. the ring exchanging ceremony of his engagement! he loathed the idea!! so much so that he pulls his ring off and throws it in the pure waters of the Ganges! making it clear that the gods may have wanted this.. but he didn't!!.. glow little light glow. Give light to a dark troubled soul..
Seeing is believing!! thus Viplav spots the female figure clad in white sari face down , on the edge of the mandir step.. beside the edge of the waters.. he forgets his own darkness and is lit up by the purpose of tending too what he sees.. seeing is believing it is Dhani! What a place to sleep at.. or is she dead? this is her idea of playing a prank on him!!as a pay back for all the pranks he played on her! but not today! of all the days! he didn't feel like laughing.. why won't she get up? and say.. See rakkshas! got you! see you are not the only one who plays sick jokes! got you didn't I ? and nooo! I won't be opening my eyes! want you to grovel, fester and agonize! Rakshas see it! if you can crack this joke? work at it ! while I get the last laugh Rakhsas!.. ooohhh why won't she respond to my touch? She turns cold.. Dhani.. and he recalls she may have swooned due to her two day fasting.. what did she achieve?? To give me her rakhsas more angst? dear god she may die??.. help me dear god!

What can I say about this episode.. one has to see it to believe in the high pitched drama that it drummed with.. watched it on a big screen with a room full of relatives who broke into dance and song at Atif's song.. jeena.. and I twitched my jaw and thought.. oh when can I watch this episode on my own.. sorry for posting it so late.. the follow up one I will be doing.. I want too.. love dramatics.. .. much love hammie..
