I think it's pretty much been established, as to what this man cares about. Himself and anything that makes his standing and power greater. Like any other villain!

Moments of Viplav's maturity and sense of care steadily unfolds in the story .He is seen to defend the weaklings of the house ,his sister, his father and his dadi. He may act flippant, but shows awareness and can see where the weak are oppressed by the strong!

^I think he has it in him like you've said but he sort of lives ignoring what's really right before him (sound familiar?😆). In a sense perhaps he is naive enough to not really understand the customs traditions that marks what he intends as a prank an actual sin. But I mean with a grandfather and mother like he has...who is really at fault? It think it says something that he does have natural instinct to protect, to do no physical harm. It makes me feel sad for his grandmother, sis, and dad. To live the way they do, being blamed for things that were of no fault of theirs or don't matter.

You know, it's sad to see that actions have such low basis. That people could be swayed so easily. These widows live their lives as if they chose to become women in white all because the society deems them inauspicious and unworthy of respect. This is what I meant. Instinct warns him of right and wrong and importance even though he didn't take those pranks seriously (and maybe because in the past it hasn't been a big deal for him) he did draw a line at violence. And the way he defends all the while protecting her even there you can see his innocence at play. These people who are ready to commit such violence against a women, really would they be easily swayed by reasoning? for god sakes I don't think people who rally up for such things are the most sensible of people...

Anyway, I do like the little kick start to the LS of the pair. Both can begin to see the other in another light now...
