Finally got myself to watch the second episode and I found it more hilarious than anything else.. I think it was easier to sit through today because at least I knew what to expect for the most part.

The Tripathi household is a DEPRAVED space. So the dadiji is being treated like crap by her husband and daughter-in-law simply because she gave birth to a physically disabled son. *face palm times infinity* I don't even know how to react to that.. I literally do not know how to register such narrow minded and offensive thinking. A son who is perfectly CAPABLE and MENTALLY SHARP is considered a "dharti ka boojh" because he is not Tom Cruise reincarnate. And it's not just "dadaji" who feels it's his God given right to act like his son is the biggest inconvenience in his life. The "very fit for her age" daughter-in-law also acts like her husband is a punishment unleashed upon her. Chalo I can MAYBE get why the grandfather feels cheated by the birth of his son.. But I do NOT understand why the WIFE acts like she had no idea who she was marrying AND having TWO kids with or why she feels that she somehow has the right to be upset by her husband physical appearance (assuming that physical disability is the sole reason for her gross behavior). And the way she berated her daughter for being over weight. Disgusting. I am SO put off. What kind of a narcissistic, sociopathic family is this!

Compared to his family, Viplav seems like the sane one and that is saying ALOT. Viplav is in no way even close to being perfect but if his family is as screwed up as it is, it is no surprise that the man refuses to grow up and feels little to no remorse for wanting to have his way. He's grown up in an environment where it's apparently okay to berate people around him and still pamper him like he is the best thing on the planet. It really makes sense to a certain extent.. I almost felt bad for him during the pooja scenes. It's utterly messed up that HE came out being the sensible one compared to his family in that scene even without trying. Maybe the dadiji, the dad and the sister can eventually learn to stand up for themselves - that is the only thing that I would be worth watching with respect to this family. But I don't see that happening anytime soon.

And Dhani, PLEASE BE QUIET! Her bhashans were making me roll my eyes so hard, I was worried they'd roll back in my head permanently. First telling her friends that this is her "vidwa dharm" and then lecture maro-ing at Viplav again for the "prasad" not being up to her standard.. -_- *face palm* But the annoying part is that all her bravado is ONLY limited to Viplav. Anywhere else and she's standing eyes lowered, hands fidgeting, shaking like a leaf. She is SCARED to even be STANDING in an area with people who MAY in some random way disapprove. But in front of Viplav our Dhani jee has all the gyaan in the world to impart and all the self righteous wisdom to bestow. I got why she was upset yesterday.. Some random guy coming up to me, drunk, and asking me my age would make me go WT* too. But I don't see why she had to act like he was giving her poop patties today when he tried to hand her some honest to goodness prasad AFTER apologizing to her. -_- I don't get it.

And that's probably why I UNDERSTAND that Viplav was insulted and annoyed by how she'd treated him like the scum beneath her feet twice in one day now. I get the WHY. I don't get the HOW he reacted though. Throwing color on someone and pretending you didn't do it? Welcome to 3rd grade everyone. *sigh*.. I guess from what I figure, Viplav is not a guy incapable of apology and humility, in fact I think he is capable of being a much more civil person that maybe wasn't evident yesterday because his introductions to us and to Dhani happened while he was still somewhat drunk.. But even his humility has limits and there is only SO much of it he can spare (thanks to his upbringing).. So when that tiny quota of humility is used up, the brat resurfaces. *sigh* Dhani and Viplav, I'm annoyed at both of them.. But while yesterday seemed to Viplav's day, today it's Dhani taking the lead.

Over all I just wish the show wasn't so... chauvinistic and regressive. With the husbands blaming wives for bearing sons who aren't "normal", with widows being expected to saunter off in shadows and keeping their head down and NOT speak simply BECAUSE they are widowed. With overweight girls being called "bhains" and disrespected by mothers SIMPLY for being who they are. And with boys and their friends thinking it's their birth right to demand respect and fear from every girl who walks down the street simply because they are BOYS and because they are born in a family with some leverage.. *sigh*..

MR.. *sigh* the things he's making me sit through..

I'm starting to look forward to your posts 😃 Your frustrations with the characters are so on point and somewhat hilarious too 😆😆😆 I feel your pain, really I do ...

Your point about Viplav's humility is bang on ... it was visible when he seemed to "apologize" to Dhani and also in the scene where his friend makes the money comment ... he didn't seem to like that ... but all said and done, his ego gets bruised very easily and he reverts to immaturity ... I guess he's trying to have his last hurrahs before leaving Benaras (so he thinks 😆)

About the family dynamics, I think they are showing such a regressive family so that the cvs have other issues to deal with other than widowhood and the love story

I watch this show with no expectations and only for MR ... if I happen to like something I will be pleasantly surprised

P.s. am I the only one who finds it coincidental that both Dhani and Viplav have two besties 😆😆😆

I just wish his release was something other than throwing immature "main Viplav Tripathi hoon" type tantrums and playing middle school pranks! Lol, I would have loved it so much more if he shut Dhani up with a logical argument and some self control. I would have respected him! But right now all I can think is that yes she was wrong, but then you weren't right either. I wish his rebuttal made me root for him in his corner, not smack my forehead in frustration and go "WHY!!?".. 😆

I wonder if the other issues in the story ALL had to be this regressive.. I really feel like I am in the early 1900s every time I watch this show!

Viplav's two besties need to be taught manners and given some reality check. They keep egging him and his ego on! It's half their fault that he feels like he's the Sultan of Banaras. 😆 And Dhani's besties.. As impressed as I was with Raj Lakshmi yesterday, I feel that we saw the selfish side of her today. She's realistic in her views but I feel that's driven by her strong sense of self preservation and she will definitely put herself before other and what the world thinks (as was visible in the scene where she got prasad from Viplav and then left Dhani to fend for herself in the end). The other one of Dhani's friends is even more spineless than Dhani.. that was surprising. I didn't know that was possible.

I am so glad u girls r bck ... as the posts r far more entertaining that the show itself...
Like I have no tolerance ...who behave like the High Priest and Vipper ...
Dhani is off another planet ...All is left is to chew on her whites ...I do not see life in her and sorry to say not a spark ...
That High Priest is what we call haathi ke daath ... for world he something else nd to his family behind closed doors he is something ...
The mother is manipulative ,,, Gold digger ...If u have a problem with someone , why marry him .
But with Mama like her and Grand Da like High Priest ...There is no wonder ... Vipper is Vagabond ...who is irritated by the pooja but does not brother to raise his voice or react to the way this Grand Ma , Dad or sis is being treated

THIS.

This is what I don't get! There's two ways this marriage could have played out. One, she knew what she was getting into but decided to go ahead with the wedding anyways because she wanted the money and in that case she got what she wanted i.e. MONEY. Or two, she was duped into marrying her husband and had no idea he was physically disabled and in that case it's the family's fault for duping her. In BOTH scenarios she has NO grounds to throw her attitude around on her husband. If she married him for money then she got exactly what she wanted and she has no reason to whine. If she didn't know what she was getting into then her anger should be directed at those responsible for conning her, which clearly cannot be the husband (he doesn't have enough gumption to do so).

So WHY the attitude miss! It's like her anger and disgust is directed towards anyone that doesn't fit the standards of what she considers "beautiful". Her physically disabled husband, her over weight daughter.. Both, for some twisted reason known only to her, are deserving of all the crap she dishes out to them for no other reason than simply because they LOOK unpleasant to her.

That logic just deserves a good smack upside the head. -_-

I am not sure why.. But at least for the next month or so I can give him the benefit of the doubt and stick with the show.. There may be a lot of frustrated rants that follow each episode viewing but I WILL watch it. At least until I can't take it anymore. 😆

I really think that HE thinks Viplav has more to him than what is shown just yet. And for now I am willing to lay my trust in his judgement. =)

I just didnt like the predictable and cliched scenes especially between Biplav and Dhani. Seen them thousands of times. But I see where they are going wrong with Biplab. It was never established why cant he take no for an answer. He just keeps harping on it. Overall I liked episode one better than the second one which was too predictable. But will hang on to this show for a while.
But I think this show isnt really designed for people like us who liked shows like Laagi Tujhse Lagan. The target audience is difference so we shouldnt expect another LTL.
