Yes, creative liberty indeed.
Also, our so called text books all say Valmiki 'wrote' Ramayan and not that he composed Ramayan. Western influence makes it a story book of sorts.
Also, to people who cannot understand or accept how great our forefathers were, they cannot wrap their heads around the fact that Valmiki composed 60,000 verses without writing them down. In Tretha Yuga, there were no letters or written messages. Everyone commits information to memory. Be it Vedas or messages being sent from one place to another, everything was through word of mouth.
