Marathi, Bengali and Odia too... I too felt the same. There are some groups of Nepali people who share similar rituals to UP/Uttarakhand and Bengal... I think Pahadi/Pahari people have some similarities with Bengali and Odia style of wedding rituals but I am not very sure. Mithila and Ayodhya would have had similar traditions since they were both Suryavanshi kingdoms

I think those days they didn't have elaborate ceremonies. The main events were the oath by fire and charity by the bride and groom families.

Yes, I too thought this Ramayana was an excerpt of Vishnu Purana but after watching it, realised that it was different, although storyline is very similar.
