Radha & Krishna~The Final Goodbye

We all have read,heard and watched tales of Lord Krishna's mischevious and adorable childhood! But I have always longed to know how the Vrindavan Vasis,specifically Radha and Yashoda Mata went through when Krishna was leaving for Mathura,never to return back. 😔
Hence I am writing this two part story. This one will be on Lord Krishna and Radharani. 😳
The next one will be on Krishna and Yashoda Maiyya/Nand Maharaj. 😳
Probably many of you must have read on these subjects previously..hopefully I will be able to do justice to it.
P.S. Pro and Shrutha : Pro this is nothing in front of your Radha-Krishna works!!And Srutha I don't know if you are going to like this.
Vrindavan,the enchanting land of splendid beauty and joy,was unusually silent and dull today.The trees which always used to dance to the tunes of the wind with abandon stood withered,their branches and leaves drooping.
The animals otherwise jumping and running around energetically and happily,were moving around with their heads hung down in sorrow.
The cows refused to let be milked and their calves seemed to have no interest in milk at all.
The sky and the otherwise white and fluffy clouds too seemed to be shedding tears in the form of rains.Inspite of this drizzle,the sulking peacocks would not spread their wings and dance.
The Gopalas went about their tasks mechanically while the Gopikas refused to come out of their homes.Such was the sorrow that had plagued the entire Vrindavan.
Often it is said,that the person we love the most,who becomes the chief reason of our bliss also becomes the chief reason of our grief. The reason for Vrindavan's divine splendour and serenity was its beloved Krishna.
He ruled the hearts of everyone,causing everyone's lives to overflow with positive energy.
Today,the reason for their unending grief was again Krishna.
News had spread that Krishna along with his elder brother,Balaram was to depart to Mathura within the next two days.
This was the reason behind the sorrow that had engulfed Vrindavan.
Shri Krishna was strolling in the meadows with Balaram.He had touched the leaves of the trees and they had sprung to life,only to droop again the minute he passed by.
Krishna had finally given up,deeply unhappy with the atmosphere around him.
"Kanha.."called Balaram.
Krishna remained silent,lost in thought.
"Kanha.."Balaram called again,a bit loudly.
"Yes Dau.."Krishna mumbled.
"We can't help this situation Kanha.."
"I know Dau..but I am not liking this.Look at this land Dau..this ever energetic place has lost all its splendour..and the reason is me. The Gopalas long to hug me..but they do not want to talk to me,because they are angry. "Krishna sighed sadly.
"Kanha..you have such a strong position in everyone's hearts.Right from the soil of this land to the animals to the Gopalas and Gopikas,everyone loves you too much.This was bound to happen."Balaram tried to make his brother understand.
Krishna paused to stroke the head of one glum peacock.It immediately looked up at him and spead its feathers wide.Its feathers seemed to get more colorful than ever.
Krishna smiled and lovingly accepted the feather the peacock was offering.
"If this is the state of the animals and the others,what would be the state of Radha,and Maiyya and Papa??Have you met them Kanha??"Balaram questioned him as a deer came running to his brother.
Krishna cuddled the deer within his arms and answered,"No Dau..I have no guts left to face them.I won't ever be able to leave."he answered aggrieved.
"But you have to meet them Kanha.You know that."
"Hmm..I know Dau.."he said thinking for a few moments before making up his mind.
"Have you seen Radha??"he asked the deer.
It nodded and told him where she was.Krishna stood up and faced his brother.
"Radha is by the banks of Yamuna,Dau."he told him.
"Go Kanha.For yourself and for her."
"Yes Dau.."Krishna agreed and ran away.
Balaram looked at his brother's retreating back and then at the peacock which had begun dancing happily and the deer which was now jumping around.
Radha was sitting on the banks of Yamuna,playing with the waves lapping at her feet,when she sensed Krishna standing just a few feet away from her.
She smiled and continued with what she was doing.
He came and sat down beside her.She stared into the distance while he stared at her. She looked oddly serene.
"Radha??"he called gently.
"Yes Madhav.."she replied with her soft tone.
"You aren't angry with me??"
"Why would I be??"
"Because I will be leaving soon for Mathura soon Radha.."he said dejected.
"And what can I do about that Kanha??"she asked him smiling sadly.
He had no answer.He just looked at her.
"You are going to your Uncle's place..you will be joining your family soon.There is nothing wrong in that Madhav."she said.
"But Radha..I.."
"I know you won't be returning."she said the first tear rolling down her cheek.
Krishna lifted his hand to wipe it but she stopped him.
"You are leaving because you are destined to..there is nothing we or I can do to stop destiny. And I definitely can't stop you.And I won't."she said softly.
He stared at her..bowled over by her understanding..her maturity..her love for him.
"Kanha.."she said standing up as he stood up too, "I do not what it is..but I know you can't be here anymore..and I can't do anything else other than to accept this fact."she said pained.
"Radhe..isn't it difficult for you??"he whispered.
"Is it easy for you??"she asked.
He shook his head negatively.
"Then how will it be easy for me??It is our fate Kanha..but it can't change my love for you.Nothing or nobody ever can."she sighed wiping her tears.
Krishna held her shoulders and made her turn toward him.
"Priye..fate can only create a physical distance between two people.It cannot seperate two souls.And you are my soul."he whispered making her look at him.
"Your love is so pure..it can never ever be away from my heart.Even if I am miles away from you."he wiped her tears.
"I know Kanha...but what will I do if my heart declines to stop longing for you??Even when it knows you have to leave??"she cried.
"Your heart and mine are already one Radhe..and will always be.I will always remain yours,forever."he smiled tenderly.
He stroked her hairs making her shut her eyes.He knew he would never be apart from her.
Because she was within him,as his Shakti and his eternal soulmate.
"Kanha..there is no other reason for my existence other than you.Even after you leave..my state will remain the same."she whispered,opening her eyes and looking into his.
"Radhe..I need you by my side always.Promise to be there??"he asked her gently.
"Always Krishna. You will find me whenever you need me.I will be with you,mentally and spiritually."she smiled.
Silence fell for a moments,as they gazed into each other's eyes,which exchanged thousands of emotions.
Their love was pious,beyond mundane physicality and above human understanding.
His love for her was as boundless as her devotion for him.
"Priye..what am I to do with my Vrajbhoomi??Look at the dullness that has settled over it."he sounded pained.
"This bhoomi loves you deeply Kanha.But she and the other animals will understand you soon.They will give you a farewell,you won't be able to forget for the rest of your life Kanha."she smiled and consoled him.
"I won't be able to forget you either Radha."he said staring into her calm and beautiful eyes.
"Who is asking you to Kanha??You yourself said I am your soul.You can't forget your soul can you??"she questioned him.
He kept looking at her silently for a minute.
"Radhe.."he whispered. She waited for him to continue.
"The world will look at your devotion with great reverence and wonder.To reach me they will have to take your name with complete devotion first. We won't be known as Krishna and Radha ever in the times to come. It will always be your name before mine.It will always be Radha and Krishna for all the eons to come. This is a parting promise."he said tenderly yet firmly.
Radha couldn't believe what he was saying.All she knew was that whatever he spoke was always true and meaningful.S
he never expected anything from him.All she hoped for was his eternal presence within her heart and soul.
There was nothing other than him for her in this world.
Krishna smiled at her speechlessness.He knew the words he had uttered would never matter to Radha. She was too pure to expect anything from him.
But it will matter in the future.For all the future generations.Specially the Kali Yuga.
And it definitely mattered to him.The Most.
Krishna took her into his warm embrace.
Both shut their eyes,their souls rejoicing in the love the magical silence held.
Krishna knew their seperation had to happen for the good of the society at large.Although,Their physical seperation meant nothing,because they were essentially One,he still felt emotions overwhelm him.
He tightened his hold around her while she sighed deeply in contentment leading him to smile with the same contentment.
There were many unspoken emotions,which were best left at that.For some feelings cannot be put into words.
And the universe's eternal relationships never required much words. Radha and Krishna's relationship was as ancient as the soul.
She was both His Shakti and His Param Bhakt. He was Her Swami,Her Arya,Her Aradhyaa.
They remained in that embrace,as the entire universe began to rejoice at this eternal love between the Lord and His AdiShakti.
The waves of the Yamuna were lapping at their feet,seeking their blessings.
The trees danced jubiliantly as the winds too witnessed this magical sight.
The clouds gathered in the skies and the rains lessened to a silent drizzle.
High above in the heavens,the Devas and Rishimunis were caught between endless joy and grief.
Joy at the timeless love between their Lord and their Mother and grief at their inevitable seperation.
"Swami??Why do Radha and Krishna have to be seperated?? Look at Mother Nature rejoicing due to their love.I can't even bear the thought of this heart-break."said Parvati to Lord Shiva.
"Pravati, Radha and Krishna are Mata Lakshmi and Prabhu Narayan themselves.They are One.As Shri Krishna himself said. Their seperation is for the larger good.Krishna has to leave to vanquish the evil Kamsa."Shiva told his consort.
"Then what about Radha??"she questioned.
"Radha has the strength to endure this seperation,because her love is so strong and divine. For all the ages to come,Radha will always be known as Srimati Radharani,Prabhu Krishna's eternal consort.Everyone will celebrate Her place in His heart." he said smiling.
Mata Parvati too smiled,convinced and happy.
She turned to look toward earth,at Shri Krishna and Srimati Radharani.
The divine pair was lost in the warmth of their love,completely oblivious to all those worshipping and admiring them.
After a few moments,Radha pulled away causing Krishna to glance at her interrogatively.
"Kanha..Its high time you go and meet Maiyya Yashoda and Maharaj Nanda."she reminded him.
Krishna's face fell.He wondered how was he supposed to face his parents and what was he to tell him.
He walked a few steps away from Radha.
"Kanha,I can understand what you are going through.But you know you have to do this.They will be waiting for you."she tried to make him understand.
"I know Radhe..but how can I face their pain??Their heartache??They have given me so much..and I am going to leave them.."he mumbled sadly.
"No Madhav..its not your fault.And your parents of all people will surely understand.You have to face this."she placed a conforting palm on his shoulder.
"Hmmm.."he mumbled still lost in his thoughts.
Radha spotted a sparrow nearby.She carefully took it in her hands and stroked its small head lovingly.
It tweeted happily.
"Do you know where Maiyya Yashoda and Nand Maharaj are??"she asked.
It nodded and told her their whereabouts.
After stroking its head and back once again,Radha let the sparrow fly away.
"Come on Kanha."she said and held his hand.
He followed her without saying a word as she led him to his parents.

I don't know if I have been able to do justice to the love Radha and Krishna hold for each other..or to the love that nature has for Radha-Krishna and vice versa.
