In the Kans Vadh episode, that scene is longer, because they show Brahma and the devtas appear to Krishna after his Surya Vandhan and beg him not to forgive Kans because of his misdeeds. Krishna then assures them that he will give Kans a second chance since he is God and God is always merciful to everyone, but Kans will not accept that chance so his death is a decided factor. They need not worry that he will be allowed to live.
