it's not just about the voice.it's pretty difficult as it is sung at a pitch which makes it hard to sing without sounding strained (even with a light voice).

Trust me Amit cannot alter his pitching. He is a typical thick tuned singer. Compare the tone of the songs he sang - nasha yeh pyar ka nasha, pahela nasha, Omkara, Tum kya jano, Chalchale and others- all sound similar. He lacks pitching versatility. Contararily compare the tone of songs Prashant sang- Ek Haseena thi, Ya ali, Rind Posh, Bheege Hoth Tere, Kaho na Kaho, Kuch na kaho. And don't forget the sharp falsettos in Bheege hoth, Arabic notes in Kaho na kaho and the thick tunes in Ek Haseena thi. Compare the variety in the chords of these songs. He accomodated thick and sharp pitching equally well. Prashant is much of an all round singer than Amit, which Anu Mallik has figured out very early in the competition. Lets see who can win the heart of the public- Prashant or Amit.

oh one thing i never got the chance to comment on 'cause i wasn't a member here yet is prashant singing in arabic in kaho na kaho. what was he thinking? seriously, it came out as gibberish. that's one thing he cannot be praised for because he should've stuck to hindi instead of experimenting with arabic lyrics when he can't pronounce half the letters like 'ein', arabic 'ha' (it's different from the hindi 'ha') etc. anyone who has any knowledge on arabic would cringe hearing that.
prashant has a thin voice hence his high pitches are more apparent, but amit sings high notes well even with his thick, deep voice.

I am Prashant's fan, you are Amit's fan. So its obvious that we differ. But I tell you to carefully listen to both of them singing together in the concert aired today or in duets during galas. Listen when both of them are singing at a time and figure out whose voice is dominating the other. Whose voice you can distinctly identify during the process. And you will find the better singer for yourself. If you hear Amit distinctively, good for you. I heard Prashant and for me he is a better singer.

I think thats the reason they have Amit Vs Prashant. Both are equally talented to win. With Emon there wouldn't been a competition at all.

There is no question, Emon would have nailed that song. It's another matter that I don't personally like his voice.
