Well I gotta start somewhere about what I have been reading through this forum and my experiences from watching JUST TOO MANY reality shows. I have better things to do than watch them, but what can I do, am addicted. I watched Indian Idol I, Indian Idol 2, Fame Gurukul and now Indian Idol 3. Through the shows I supported Amit Sana, Amey Date, Arijit Singh, Monali Thakur and all the deserving candidates, but as you all know they did not win the title. I hated the voters and the show when Amit Sana didn't win, when Arijit was voted out or for that matter when lesser deserving contestants like Qazi and Sandeep won (I know there are a lot of Abhijeet Sawant fans, but Amit Sana is just too good, but you guys won't accept it 😆 ). I actually stopped watching Fame Gurukul after Arijit Singh was eliminated. But all said and done, I support Prashant Tamang, I know Amit Paul is a better singer. I love Prashant's soothing voice, but I do know that in technicalities, Emon beats him. But I still support him, and the reason is bias of course, would I still have supported him if he was not of Nepali origin, I don't know, probably not and the reason for it is (though I always love to support the dark horse), I would not have listened carefully enough to his singing otherwise. I would not have given him a chance, I would just have written him off and hated him for a fact that he's in Indian Idol and getting ahead (we, his supporters vote, I should mention I can't personally vote, and it's no fault of his that he is getting votes).
Yes his hometown and the police force is probably his biggest supporters. And the Nepalese people, but most of us can't vote and though I can't speak for everyone, I can say this for myself, why do I support him: Is it just because he is of Nepalese origin? Yes that makes up for the most of it. I am biased, I agree but part of it also has to do with the fact that I feel people in India are unnecessarily biased against him for the reason that he is not truly an Indian (some posts in this forum makes me think this way, though I hope it is not true). You guys are bound to jump at me for saying that but there is some truth in it. I dare everyone to come forward and deny it.
So all said and done, I am proud Prashant's made it to top 2 (thanks to everyone who is voting for him; biased and otherwise) and will continue to support him. I can't vote for him but I can definitely buy his CDs when he comes out with an album. And thanks to Prashant for trying his level best and giving us performances like Bheege Honth Tere and Rind Posh Maal and helping his supporters, like me, reason enough to justify our following.
GOOD LUCK PRASHANT! 😛
