Does Indian Idol have set standards?

What exactly are they looking for… playback singer? (As mentioned by Puja ,anu malik and Udit)

If that is the case why do they also mention we want personality?

Why push Parleen and appreciate his good looks?

Why tell Amit…we are looking for a combination of gook looks and excellent singing!) Puja jayenge to glamour jayenga! (Anuji!)…

Abhijeet has no looks (No performance) yet he was the Indian idol based on singing only, so may be he supports the fact its all about 100% Singing. I support this.

But then why promote ankita's performance and blame dipali for not performing up to the mark! Why call Smita a depressing personality, are we not looking for a playback singer?

If Indian Idol is all about singing what is the difference between it and sa re ga ma pa?

Judges change opinions with time….this sudden change in support towards Ankita is so stupid, suddenly from being a perfect package now she can't sing!

I would like to judge the judges they are Not consistent! Check out the old videos online when they started the process ,you will find different views and judging criteria…none of the four have any idea what they were doing…

The selection numbers changed always in the process!!Seven people performed at wild card instead of 5! Two contestants called back after wild card instead of one……Ankita selected over Padmanav based on her ability to perform with good singing!Padmanav sang with sur and raags but had to go back home!Suhit Gosai Could not sing and was pushed so far based on his personality!

Many contestants were blamed for not being versatile…prashant , Amit , Chang have not shown much of a versatile singing either! Jusged have yet not mentioned this to any of them! When Abhishek forgot his lyrics he was blamed Anu Malik insulted contestant for wring lyrics on hand or forgetiing it during Piano round and now forgetting lyrics is acceptable! Both Emon and Puja forgot lyrics during the gala…all they said was u sang so well we don't care about all this!

Performing live is appreciated in the show yet the show is not looking for a stage performer!

It was sad to see the judges setting up the standards at the end of competition when dipali left (100 % this and 50 % that and what not!!) They should have thought about this before they started the show! This was supposed to a HW for them! Standards are not SET show is not Consistent. The fact that our HONORED judges are always fighting proves they have no common judging criteria or standard procedures! I am not sure if it's Sony or judges but I hope next year they have some agenda in mind and not just go with the flow as they look for an Idol in the name of India!

It's not what Indian Idol wants. It's what the public wants. What can the show producers do if the votes say a different story to what they are looking for? As far as what Indian Idol is looking for well let's not forget that this show is based on the international format 'Pop Idol'. This show required good singers..but the singers needed performing abilities so that the singers can promote thier songs on live stages. Exactly the same reason Indian Idol requires the singers to perform as well as sing. The difference between Sa Re Ga Ma and Indian Idol is very little. Both shows are looking for singers and both have judges who are not consistent with thier judging.
