What is FOLK exactly?
The Rajasthani folk song Amey sang in SRGM, RDB, Piya re (isn't it more Sufi), Mera piya ghar aaya?

From Taal, I feel Kariye na is more folk than other songs.
Nimbooda, well, its UNCOMMON but FOLK? Not really. 😕

If Folk is celebrating region and culture, then RDB, Rind Posh Maal, even UP Bihar are "Folk" to a certain extent.

As far as I know Folk music is songs which brings flavors of a region. Like 'Morni baaga mein bole'. It has a Rajasthani touch and it tells a story connected to the region. This is what I think it is.

I hope someone could shed more light on it.

One thing I am sure is that UP-Bihar lootna is not folk and neither is Nimbooda.

Ila Arun was a guest judge. So her songs are probably folk. Contestants could have picked her songs.
Yes Morni Bagaan is folkish. Antara sang it so well last year, probably her best performance. Had Deepali picked, I know for sure I'd start comparing the two renditions since Antara song is still fresh in my mind.

If folk is flavors of a region, then why not UP Bihar- maybe cos of the way its picturised? Even Beedi, maybe cos of the lyrics etc.

May be I think because of the lyrics or picturisation I feel it is not folk. Folk to me has a different picture in mind.

Yes you are right. Even I was confused but I thought Mahi ve cos of the rustic nature of the song (not judging by the picturisation of the song) and when did the songs have to really be folk (depending on what they mean by folk)? Since song choices are repetitive across all SHOWS (not just II3, so this nothing against this beloved show) I felt hey, it may be mahi ve and it does suit Puja's voice.
