Duet Round neccessary?

Indian Idol :- Just one winner.

Is having a duet in the theater round necessary?
Is it added to create more masala (love, fights etc)?
After Idol ends, how many contestants sing duets?

What do you all think?

i agree...itz not necessary in the idol show becuz they never sing duets..

but i think, since idol is searching for that one singer who has everything....singing duets is also necessary....becuz later on wen these idols sing songs for albums and playback...they will eventually be singing duets...

so co-ordination with other singers is also important, for a singer in general..

but for the idol show...they dont need it....i guess itz onli to determine who is the complete package afterall (but this early in the competition..itz weird..they shud do it for like top 5 or sumthing lol)

i agree with what megha said...also they dont have the time to hear individual singers...it might be a way to speed the process and get to the piano rounds quickly

Also u are right contestants never sing duets after INdian Idol. Well maybe once in a while.

I think the duet round is very necessary because it not only highlights a person's singing capabilities but also gives the judges a feel about the personalities of the singers which is very very important. To be successful in life both attitude and talent are needed! And the other reason could be the time factor...

i guess its to see the scope of the singers, can they or cant they not cope with singing with someone else, they want to see how they work as a team with someone they dont know etc. in the real world, they are going to have to be worth a professional singers time if they want to sing a duet, but on the other hand, i think its unfair. for example, i think his name is prashant? im not sure, but i feel REALLY REALLY bad for him.. that dam rucha kid or whatever her name is.. i liked her at first cause she is pretty talented for her age, but seriously, even i would hate to have her as my partner; shes putting your one time chance at risk. the poor guy even let her choose the song and all, and then shes not even practicing with him!! and that other dude.. i dont know his name.. he just went to sleep! it just shows that he must not want it that bad, or he might think that by not singing with his partner and giving her a chance to practice he'll be selected for being the better of the two, but i dont think he's realizing that its TEAMWORK. some of the jodi's were paired very well, while those two really concern me. i feel really bad for those that are put at a disadvantage because of their partners. 😡

i think it is needed as u need to see how u are in sync with another singer...but it is not required at this stage since the singers need to be polished first.putting on a dute round now..is just for the spice as u had mentioned 😃 good discussion sonya 😛

i think they follow the same format as Pop Idol and American so they probably do it as well.

i guess duet iz not dat necessary...but they ahve to follow da format of other idols...cant change it...but in all da american and canadian idol...ahrdly neone sings in duet...so i cant get da point yet...but i think it shudnt be dere...to many problems happen coz of it!
