Hello & Warm Greetings to all my friends here at IF-II !๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿ˜Š

I am New here & This is my first post to the forum ! I am very excited for this forum ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I want to know opinions of users about the show Indian Idol :

IS INDIAN IDOL PLATFORM GENUINE ENOUGH TO GIVE A FAIR OPPORTUNITY AS A CAREER STARTER ?

To check above I need your help. Please give me your opinions on following

>> Is injustice is done with genuine talent during city auditions & theatre rounds ?

>> Is selection process a fair one ?

>> Is favoritism there ?Can contacts benefit ?

>> MOST IMPORTANTLY : Do we see on TV - what is actualy there on sets n studios of II ? Is there a huge difference between show's TV appearance & actual Selections/shooting/audiotions/voting/judges comments etc. ?

Thanking you all in advance & Have a nice day ! Love you all !! :)๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

: About me :

I am 20 Years old. I am student of 2'nd Year in Chemical Engineering. I am also a singer in local bands. My training of Classical Music <North Hindustani> is in progress !

I am at a crossroads of my life. At 20 my only aim in life is to build my own identity.I want be self dependant in terms of money.

For that I can either finish my studies or I can choose Playback Singing. I will have to choose only 1 out of both. That's the crossroads of my life.

If I choose Music then I'll go to Indian Idol 3 & afterwards my journey will begin. But in that I will have to sacrifice my Graduation studies.

So my question to all of you is a very very serious matter to me. It will decide my stable n suitable career and so future of my life !

Kuchh Sawaal ...Zindagi badal sakte hain !

Kya pata ...Meri Zindagi shayad In sawaalo se badal jaaye !!

Thanks !

Hi Vijey ๐Ÿ˜› Welcome to IF. I hope u hv lots of fun here ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Wow engineering and music r two totally different professions. If u r really into music and truly dedicated and if u hv enuff time to devote urself to it completely and if u r ready to work really hard only then i would suggest u to go into music.

Just see wat interests u the most whether its singing/music or engineering?

i cannot give u any feed back regarding how things go during the auditions and theatre rounds because i hv no idea abt it. i think someone who has been thru that process would be able to give a better feeback....

II is a reality show so i guess watever we see on tv is wat actually happens during all the rounds. i dont think anything is scripted..everything seems real..laughing...crying etc.

So before u decide anything ask ur family's opinion on it as well and pray to God. He'll help u choose the right and the better path ๐Ÿ˜›

Good luck ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I've reached the 2nd round of both Indian Idol 2 and Fame X. And I too was in a similar position as you find yourself in. Last year I was in my Final Year IT Engg. But I'm really really dedicated abt Indian Idol. So I'd gone to the auditions last year with my exams just 1 week away. And now after graduation,I've turned down 3 software jobs just to focus on singing and strive towards becoming a playback singer.

And yes,I can surely say from my experience of both the reality shows that ALL the factors that you mentioned above exist. What you see on TV is nowhere near to what the reality is. For example,I'll tell you 1 of my experience at last year's Lucknow auditions. I was interviewed by the II2 crew and they asked me about my background, education etc etc. And when they learnt that I was a IT engineering student, they sidelined me and instead projected a boy (who was standing behind me in the line) from a modest family background ahead, just so that they could make a Rags-to-Riches kind of story...aka Ravinder Ravi.

So basically, there's lots and lots of factors involved. And STILL,I'm aiming for II3. Lots of ppl say Im crazy. But I have faith in myself and my God. So I've taken this decision.

What you decide is up to you. But do think about what I've mentioned. Nothing is clean in reality shows.

Hey there. I don't know about college in India, but if u don't take yr exam this year, can u take it next year? If so, and if you think you're really good and have got what it takes to be a playback singer. I think u should go for it. I mean, otherwise, u'll always wonder "what if". The other thing is, these shows are here for the time being. If you can wait, finish yr studies, get yr degree and THEN go after singing. If it doesn't work out to yr liking, u always have engineering to fall back on. What I've noticed from these reality shows is that getting in the industry is TOUGH! It's a huge struggle. Look at Amey Date, Shamit Tyagi, and the others...still don't even have an alubm completed, hardly anything other than stage shows. Not even close to getting into playback singing. But then Karunya, Amit Sana, Meenal, Vineet, Himani, and Prajakta have all been able to break into playback singing. In conclusion, I think ultimately u have to decide what u want most and whether u want to play it safe (have something to fall back on) or whether u want to risk everything for something that may or may not happen. If u decide to take the risk, then make sure u take ashirwad from yr family and pray that you are one of the lucky ones who's talent gets recognized and promoted. Good luck!

well i cant really tell u about wat happens in actual and the difference thats shown on tv...becuz i onli watch wats shown on tv.....i dont live in india and nor do i really noe any1 whoes been thru all that...except ofcourse the contestants...

however im sure itz not so nice as shown on tv...theres surely alot of bias and influence going on...there surely is alot of regionalism once the voting starts..and that even the viewers can tell..

just concentrate and do ur best...thas all i can really say...

Hi Vijey Welcome to IF! engineering and music r two different professions. i believe u should choose the career u want to succeed in, if your heart says music than go on with music, and of course family support helps..
as per the II auditions, i feel that there is favoriteism,,but as long as u do good u will get much public support..and from the judges..contacts benefit,,but proving yourself a singer without any contacts is stronger ๐Ÿ˜Š
well good luck in da journey ahead

Great ! Nice thoughts so far.

When I signed out yesterday after posting & lots of waiting - I thought that only some glittery n gossip posts get reply.

But today when I signed in to see all you guys with true opions - I m relieved !

I would thank Parashar Joshi also ! Were you there Mr Joshi @ Fame-x auditions last year @ Mumbai !

Please give me full detailed story of your quest for music so far ! Where have you & How many times you have gone for auditions , What were different experience etc..

I would be very happy if you state it time by time starting with how you were inclined to playback music as a career !
