I'm starting a new column; I hope you all like it. Yup, it's by me! Next is Monali, Panna, Ravi, Meenal, Antara, Amey, Anuj, Karunya, Sandeep (of course, Why Sandeep Won and not lost).
WHY NEHA LOST
Neha Kakkar looked to be promising when she entered the galas after chickenpox. But the first week, she landed in the bottom three and was gone the next. Why did this happen? Why did Neha lose?
Let's start with the rules (thanks to FoxesOnIdol)
1) Have some singing and performing talent
There is no denying that Neha has both in abundance. However, comparing her to most of the remaining finalists, and she is just not that strong. If you listen carefully to her songs, you should notice many mistakes; pitch problems, she goes off-key at times, and she has very little breath control and sometimes sings in an immature voice, which is why I feel that she should have waited till she was ready. Take her performance of Zubi Zubi; her voice really didn't sound good at times and did break. About performing, Neha was a natural on stage and could really dance.
2) Song Choice
Aha. Here's where the real problem begins. Neha had the option to choose other songs, but she chose this song because she felt that she could convey how she wants to be a star, to make a name for herself. Well, that's all fine, and good that she wanted to express herself through her song, but it really was simple. When Neha was eliminated I didn't think so, but after listening again that's the truth. It really was not challenging at all, and she needed a challenging song after her appearance in the bottom three.
3) Be Consistent and Able to Sing Different Genres
I don't feel that Neha was consistent, as her performances weren't that great. Now I'm going to talk about singing different genres; Neha said on the results show that she hadn't wanted to do peppy numbers, but then she blamed it on the Idol helpers, when she did have a choice. So she didn't sing different genres, and that's another reason why.
4) Be Unique & Memorable, Be A Package
Neha was herself, and she was unique. However, with that said, compared to Antara, Meenal, and Monali, she did sometimes be forgettable. She just didn't seem to build up an image for herself, and just seemed to be the cute little girl who sang the peppy songs.
About the package, Neha was great. She danced, she performed, she really did well. But she did seem to be a little inexperienced sometimes, though, and maybe her fanbase didn't expand because of it.
5)Respect the Judges
Needless to say, Neha did respect the judges. She did, however, talk when Farah was not finished, but she did ask. However, the connection that she made, relating how she wants to be a star to what Farah was telling her, was incorrect, and maybe she lost votes because of that.
