And the next Indian IDOL is........who?? Indian Idol is again going through a nail biting journey for the twelve participants going to the Galas.

When we sit back and think about Indian Idol - 1, let us ask ourselves a question, DO we really have the so called Indian Idol??? Was he better than the contestants that took stage to be the top twelve of the Indian aspiring Singers? Think again before saying Yes. We all saw the nerve breaking exits of some really good singers such as Vishal Kothari, Harish Moyal, Prajakta Shukre. Ms. Shukre was compared to the very respected and also recomended by Lataji, Alka Yagnik. Then why did she not make to the top? We all saw "The Fevicol Ka Jod" in Mr. Ravinder Ravi, who despite of being almost literally kicked by the judges, finished at the fifth place. Even Rahul Vaidya finished early although he was being compared to the Sensational Sonu Nigam by the Icon himself. Amit Sana being a runner up for the talent hunt, was out by a very high margin of votes counting in many thousands.

All of this has only one thing to blame onn, "The Voting System". The rich and prosperous vote for their lads counting in many lacs irrespective of them being good or not. The people "Not so rich", or people believing only in true singers are bagged with some handful hundreds. This can be best explained by the slip through of the singing aspirant Amey Date, in the latest hunt for Indian IDOL - 2. He has already been assumed to be the top two of the contestants from the sensational 12 by the judges.

It is declared that theIndian IDOL will get a Ton's (crores) contract and a car, which happens to come from the sponcerors of the show. Is this some kinda ploy to bemuse and bewilder the thousand crore population?? If we consider the votes recieved on an average of 60,000 votes per episode and the charges by phone or sms is a minimum of Rs 2/-. The show is aired for over three months, so even if you are not good at calculation, then you can observe that what is being offered to the Indian IDOL is just a bucket from the sea while the channel is making millions per episode, leave aside the production costs. These accumulation of votes is just business for the channel under the guise of searching talent and the judges blame the citizens of the country for not voting properly. This fact should ring on their deaf ears.

Indian IDOL is surely a platform for the aspirants of Singing, but it is just apparent for now. We will get the real singing barron only when the Voting System is regularized or else in the forthcoming episodes, we may see more shocks than ever.

So sit back and enjoy the Heart Breaking and Nerve breaking backs of the talented singers as long as the system prevails.

ye you are right, this competition is just game of money....SONY is going to make lot more than he will give to top.....any way we hope that good singer makes the way but I doubt.....see we have people like PANNA a rich guy compare to AMEY ....& big VOTE BANK from BANGAL compare to MUMBAI....so chances of getting the best to be at the top is very little ..... we had already had great losses like ANUJ, DILPREET & JYOTSANA that was also a part of the bad selection ...... we can hope SONY stop cashing the publicity by putting MUSIC on stake.....SONY has to understand the VOTES not coming from the regions but rich individuals are supporting theirselves.........
on the other hand if compare the selection system of SRGMP its dam good..........each one compete with other to reach the last 12.....unlikly in II2 first boys group was much weeker than the 2nd .....in SRGMP there was some WC entries also to save good singers but in II2 its just money-money & no music...........

well said... 👏 ..
Sometime contests does play wid the emotions of ppl. PPL r finding it intertesting coz they r better than saas-bahu saagas.
N more over its seems, all production houses/channels are bagging money of ppl in their pocket in the mask of contest.

I am a firm supporter of the 'one person, one vote' theory. It is the cornerstone of democracy. What happens in multiple voting system is, as has been pointed out earlier, that the richer contestants manage to get more votes by repeated voting by friends and family.

Why isnt multiple voting allowed in our elections? Because its illogical. Imagine voting for, say a Congress candidate, and then coming out and joining the queue to vote again. Sounds funny? Thats how funny Idol voting system is.

Dilpreet was short of 500 votes compared to Yashashree and got voted out. ONE person could have sent 500 votes if they wanted to, overnight, voting Dilpreet in. Would that have meant that "Janta ki choice" had changed bcoz of one person? Ridiculous.

From SONY's point of view, "INDIA has sent in 5 lakh votes", sounds much better compared to "aapke 27 hazaar vote aaye".

Hey, completely agree with your points. Unfortunately, the disappointments of the piano round (great singers like Dilpreet, Anuj voted out) will rake in more revenue for the channel. More people will vote, in an effort to save their favorite singers. Dlipreet needed only 501 votes to be in the galas and that point was well publicized by the channel. The current voting system favors more rich people who can afford to vote, vote and vote. All I can is we can expect more surprises in the upcoming rounds.

yes,I too agree with ur theory of one vote for each person. This is multiple voting and true a lot of contestants who are rich will ask their relatives and friends to vote for them. That is exactly why they keep saying to vote as many times possible there have been shockers in every round hope this time the indian public does vote properly.

A very good observation. I've always been against multiple voting system but everything is possible where money speaks because the show is all about accumulating gains through telephone calls and SMSs. In the garb of music contests the channels gain crores of rupees out of which only an iota is given to the winners. Had these channels been more responsible towards music they wouldn't have made the whole system based on multiple votes because it's illogical and unethical too.

I would also like to add that the channels create pseudo-icons on their shows to create and proliferate vote banks and gain as much as possible. They really don't bother all that music is concerned about. Tomorrow, even if an undeserving becomes the II, it would be a matter of no surprise to me.

i also agree wid this poin of mulitple voting; y channels support coz they get revenue; they r least concern for talents; they seems more concern for money.
if they really wanted to do multiple voting then a limit should be defined.

One vote per person would be fair but NOT pratical.guys, sony is not running a charity house here.U think they honsetly care about finding talented ppl and giving them due credit for their talent-NO. The very fact tht Qazi beat Arijeet in FG proves tht. They are a private company with the only objective of making profit. Why should they care if a talented or a much deserving candidate gets out as long as they keep getting the votes for the not so deservign candidates? And as a matter fo fact, all these shocks that have occured in the piano rounds actually help the show coz it adds more masala to it. It becomes more n more of a soap-opera.
