Sonu Nigam was out of line

I was very disappointed with Sonu last night. Usually, he's very careful and very measured in his comments. However, yesterday he breached the code of an impartial judge. He stated "he's disappointed with the voting public to have voted Amey at No. 3. He should have been number 1 as it now reduces his chances to advance". As a judge he should NEVER make his personal sentiments about a candidate public. He should comment/critique on their performances but not how the public should vote (1, 2, 3). This takes away from his credibility as an impartial judge. Those who are Sonu fans and respect his judgement will now be unduly influenced by his likes and dislikes. For example, I thought Anuj was the best on Monday (yes, better then Amay) but if I was a judge, I would NEVER say that Anuj should have been voted first. I would limit my comments to what I liked about Anuj's performance and let the people decide how they should vote.

What do you guys think about this?

I am sorry but I do not agree because Sonu was just giving example and we all know that what he said was right because Anuj deserves to be in Gala. I would call him being partial if he showed that he doesn't want Panna to be in and he doesn't deserve to be in gala (JA for Shamit in FG would be best example). I am sure the only reason he got so emotional was because it is happening every week now and I am actually thankful that he spoke up because it was needed. It is very sad that people like me cannot vote and it is more furstrating to see deserving people go out for as small number as 3000 votes. Wow...this is the longest post I ever wrote 😊

He should have stated that "Please vote carefully and based on talent and ability." He should not have said that "Amay should have been voted 1st". Because now he's siding with a candidate over other candiates who are equally deserving (example Anuj). This is where I feel he was out of line. In his position as a judge he cannot be seen as partial to any one candidate.

According to me as a judge Sonu only should criticize the singing ability of a contestent not the public. He is not there to comments on people, only reason he is there to judge contestents. Also, I didn't like the way he treated Javed Khan. This kid has an excillent voice. He might not be capable of singing all kind of song...so what....whatever he sang in the competation is good enough to go to the next level. So I thing Sonu need to thing twice what he is delivaring to either people and contestants.

I think sonu wanted Amey 1st b'coz he deserved it. he very talented as compared to most of other contestants. and by talent, I mean as a singer. (and he has always said that when he judges , 'singing always comes first'!

I think Sonu was just fine. 😊

Ketaki, I think you are missing the point. Nobody suggested that he should praise Amey for his performance, but a judge has to be seen as impartial. He shouldn't be saying that Amay should be voted #1. For example, I personally thought Anuj was better than Amay but if I was a judge, I wouldn't say that Anuj should be voted number 1. I would simply point out the things I liked about this contestant that I liked. You probably wouldn't have felt this way had he said that another contestant should have been voted 1st. It's not his place to dictate who should be voted where.

I agree w/ sonu b/c look at all the contestants that have gotten burned due to the public's voting...namely, Kshitij, Dilpreet, Anuj...these people's futures and careers are in the hands of the public and rather than fairly voting for the best singer they are voting on other criteria.

I think Sonu was understandably upset...i do agree that he could have chosen his words a little better, but it wasn't just him...Anu made the sarcastic salute to the janta as well.

Anyway, I hope that they have a wildcard round like last time and invite back dilpreet, kshitij, and anuj b/c they definitely deserve another chance to try to get in.
