^^ If I understand correctly, most of the vocals in the song are by Udit Narayan and Kailash Kher, Hariharan only sang the portion at the very beginning of the song( the song that comes through the radio at the very beginning in the video)

Edit: Also wanted to say, Sreeram added a more explicitly western touch to the rumdum tanana which sounded great.

Also, despite all the criticism that Rakesh is getting for not heading out of his comfort zone enough, I feel that it was Sreeram this time who failed to challenge himself. Sreeram did more of what we've heard him do well before, e.g. high pitches, aakaar taans etc. Alhough he was singing with Udit Narayan, he was filling in for Hariharan and Kailash Kher - something we all know he can do. I would have liked to see him shift gear and sing a true blue Udit song. He's done it before in Jadoo Teri Nazar and Pehla Nasha and both times I felt he was not his matchless self. In fact, Jadoo Teri Nazar was probably Sreeram's worst performance of the whole season imo - it wasn't bad as such, it was just not as impactful as it could have been.

Yeah I noticed that too! I remember it sounding more like a taraana in the original 😆 It didnt do that much for me coz the feel of the song should be more rustic imo.

Going outside of comfort zone is attempting songs which don't come naturally for you, And I think you yourself mention that Sreeram has already sung a couple of Udit songs and a lot of Kishore Kumar songs which didn't exactly seem his style. The problem with those songs is not the rendering itself. Sreeram and Udit have diametrically opposite type of voice textures. No matter how well Sreeram sings, one would feel something missing if he sings a pre-recorded Udit song. And it's not just Sreeram. Even someone like Sonu Nigam wouldn't be very impressive singing songs that Udit Narayan sang before because of the voice texture. I don't think you can fault him for that.

And about the 'least desesrving finalist poll', I felt that Sreeram was probably trying to undermine his main competitor, Rakesh. He can't honestly have felt that Bhoomi is more deserving than Rakesh! 😲 Isn't it quite clear to everyone, including Bhoomi herself, that she is the least deserving finalist there?

Frankly, I think Sreeram didn't take Bhoomi's name because they are good friends and get along well.

I would say 9/10 to Sreeram.
I haven't seem Consistency in Rakesh's performance. He sang good-always its like -something is missing-like he is scared of something. And today when he sung with Udit Narayan-it became more clear. I don't know but I get this feeling that if Rakesh comes in front of me I will shake him hard so he can take out his real potential. Its like he kills all the melody of the song.Okay for this performance 5/10 and if overall rated -5/10.
Bhoomi was okay so 6/10

I'm not faulting him. 😆

As you said, "Going outside of comfort zone = attempting songs which don't come naturally for you."

I thought that the Udit Narayan episode would give Sreeram a chance to go outside of his comfort zone by singing a more typical Udit song. But Sreeram did not attempt something that wouldn't be natural for his voice. So he stuck to what he is best at, and did a great job. Having said that, by sticking to what he is best at, he didn't really go outside his comfort zone.

I'm just pointing all this out because it seems like people want Rakesh to step outside his comfort zone but they don't mind if Sreeram doesn't do the same.

For me, singers should sing what they can sing well. I don't mind people staying within their comfort zone - that's where the best music is made anyway. Imagine Ustad Nusrat singing Billy Jean or MJ singing Mast Qalandar 🤣

Ohh perhaps! That's a good explanation too. But I haven't been following the episodes where the hosts make a big deal out of the Sreeram-Bhoomi relationship, so that angle didn't strike me.

Of course it could be a mix of both the reasons...🤔
