Confirming only a particular voice type can sing Indian songs and not other voice types, especially for women.. all women who have husky voices should just stop singing...

If you don’t agree that’s fine. You can scroll and you can disagree but don’t say stuff like “you try and make your opinions the truth” this poster doesn’t do that. However she’s one of the most knowledgeable people in music and it’s history. An even she admitted she reads up on music a lot.

I don't mind her giving her opinion. Everyone has opinions, likes and dislikes. I respect everyone's. She also made her preferences clear earlier and other members have too and I never responded. I also don't want to change her mind.

I only dislike the fact that she generalises her likes as if everyone thinks that and anyone who doesn't think like her is not worth anything. You may want to re-read and see how demeaning she was. She might be musically knowledgeable, but that is not to discount other members' music knowledge.

I don't see anything wrong with that. The initial post doesn't seem to be coming from someone who know music. Because I don't think some one who learnt music calls yodeling and falsetto as gimmicks. Its years of hardwork to get that command on voice. It's not a gimmick. Even I read that post as trying to prove their point by showing assumptions as truth only.

Every one have their opinions but writing opinions in a way to hurt the feelings of fans not sure how good that is. If everyone starts writing like that based on their music knowledge on every contestant on this forum will become a pain for general fans. So if everyone remains constructive that would be good.

Please guys. Don't fight. Peace. Calm down all. It's a request. We don't want negativity on the forum. We all are music lovers here. That's why we love Indian Idol.

Yes I did. For years. I had mentioned it on this forum too.

EDIT:

I have learned music notation, piano, and vocals well. We used to analyse different works as well, from classical to Western to Indian composers (around 50s to present time). But eventually, I chose to complete my education and let music be my hobby.
