Indian Idol, the popular singing reality TV show, seems to have taken a huge blow which has come at the hands of its guest and singer Amit Kumar, son of legendary singer Kishore Kumar. There have been many times when Indian Idol 12 came under the scanner. From faking narratives about contestants to shedding crocodile tears, the Neha Kakkar, Himesh Reshammiya and Vishal Dadlani hosted show has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. However, unlike the previous incidents, Indian Idol 12 has apparently been exposed and there's no escaping for the makers this time around. The weekend episode of Indian Idol 12 was graced by Amit Kumar as the guest. The episode was supposed to be a tribute/homage to Kishore da. The contestants performed on Kishore Kumar's iconic songs and the show's judges Neha and Himesh along with Amit were simply blown away by their performances on stage. There was also a segment where everyone on the set was asked to sing a Kishore Kumar song picturised on actors such as Rajesh Khanna, Rishi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan. From host Aditya Narayan and the judges to contestants and Amit Kumar, it seemed like everyone was having a great time on the sets crooning to Kishore Kumar songs. But the bubble was brutally burst by the unhappy and angry viewers who slammed the makers of Indian Idol 12 left, right and centre for what they felt as an 'insult' to the legendary singer.

Yeah easily the two worst episodes of the season. I DVR'd both of them and had to foward half of them. Just listened to the performances honestly.

If Amit Kumar had any b...s he would have refused to accept that he had to praise everyone. Being a walkover he could not. Imagine asking A R Rehman to do that or even Jaya Prada for that matter.
The most vehement public criticism was against the judges (singing). Did Amit Kumar say a word in anger about them? He instead chose the poor defenceless contestants, who are his children's age, to call names. How cheap can he get!
He is a wasted singer who lives under the shadow of a legend.
If it was someone of quality making the criticism then one should give it heed. Amit Kumar - it is just stuff for the yellow B grade press. Sign of the times that so called reputed papers choose to publish such stuff.
There was a problem, it was not necessarily the contestants.

And it was his unforgivable crime to refer his father's name that Kishore Kumar was also focused on money while justifying his action of praising the contestants for money. It was very hard to believe for me. He should have understood the position of his father in the mind of music lovers.

Forgive him. He is not in control of what he says more than half the time.

Yeah I just find the whole Amit situation extremely distasteful. He came across as extremely unprofessional in how he handled the situation after-the-fact.

On a side note: I don’t even blame the media or the show producers for this over-dramatization of every little minute detail. They only cater to what the public wants and what they gravitate towards.

Just look around this forum; half of the recent posts are baseless and paranoid conspiracy theories and large exaggerations using only a thin fabric of reality as its base. People are quick to bash every facet of the show and the contestants they don’t like, yet will be the most dedicated to tune in every week and follow it religiously.

There is no royalty for singer artist in india, they need money too....people who can earn from shows can earn only.... Singers like amit kumar, m aziz and shabir kumar were never popular for shows so it's obvious he get to earn money through TV shows

You mean he is denied royalties from Kishore Kumar's songs. There is royalty for his songs/albums That is sad then. Or may be he spends more than he earns. Possible if rumours are to be believed.
