There is no royalty for kihsore songs too upto now, no singer of past or present is getting their royalties
Where are you getting this information? This is how misinformation spreads and people just start believing things without any adequate research or knowledge on the subject. ISRA (Indian Singers Rights Association) has been taking huge steps for the last 5 years, and since 2018 has been able to compensate a large amount of royalties to various playback artists for their work.
Generally, there are two kinds of licensing: recording artist royalties and publisher royalties. The intricacies of how royalties get paid out vary depending on the medium and platform. As an example: broadcast radio station pays only the recording artist royalties. Internet radio stations must also pay mechanical duplication royalties which are publisher royalties.
The point is, that there’s been revamps in the entire system in order to protect singers from exploitation. And now industries have been forced to pay out royalties (depending on the contract) to singers in the last few years. The way contracts are being produced are completely different now than even 10 years ago.
Please use correct information and factual evidence before making claims and creating unnecessary hostility. And others need to be more weary of believing things, and not just make assumptions based off comments like ‘Amir and Salman said blah blah’ which play zero role into actual legislative changes.
There’s still a lot of progress to be made, and but the globalization of music platforms has forced India into revamping its own legislation in order to finally catch up with the times. It’s still far behind in some things, but ISRA and other independent associations have been making great strides over the recent years in order to better compensate the entire creative team behind musical content, including singers.
