Out of Syllabus Shaadi

Hello Imlie Forum Wasiyon!

I am a new addition to the Arylie fandom. Got hooked to the show a few weeks back. Fell in love with ASR first, then fell harder for Arylie Je Phire Chemistry. Have been hooked since. I know that like me, a lot of people are not satisfied with this forced marriage track as we know that Aru is not the type to force Imlie into a marriage fully knowing that her first forced wedding was nothing but traumatic for her. Seeing last 2-3 week episodes of this zabardasti ki shaadi have been frustrating to say the least.

However, I have a theory. I think this Shaadi came out of syllabus not just for the fandom but for the writers as well. Let me elaborate. First of all Sitara is known for grand weddings that go on for days. Leads choro, is channel pe to villains and second leads ki wedding also goes on for days. Even Adi and Malini's second wedding went on for weeks. Seeing how rushed Arylie shaadi functions seemed, it made me evaluate a little. Let us backtrack a little bit. So the first time we got forced shaadi promo, it was AKT saying if you are married you have to do all the rasams and then we see Aru going to put Sindoor and Imlie turns her head. So here is my theory. I fully believe that initially the makers planned it this way that Aru will tell her "Marry me or I will destroy Aditya", she says let us fake it but AKT will forcefully get them married as he would want proof.

However, I don't think makers understood the audience because as soon as the promo landed, majority of the fandom got mad as they felt this is not something Aru would ever do to Imlie. The backlash made writers backtrack and think of how to make it seem like the wedding will not be a forced one. Cue, we get a second promo where Aru is giving Imlie the choice to back out. They course corrected the promo but I don't think they planned it out. They had no clue what to do with the script now. How do you turn a forced wedding into a sort of consensual one this fast? Enter BD and BM. These two characters were solely brought in to ensure that Imlie's savior complex will get activated and she will agree to get married to Aru.

Since the writers had originally fleshed out the story for what will happen after the wedding, they rushed through the wedding functions. During all these functions we all saw how the characters were behaving not like they normally do. Aru felt not like Aru and Imlie also didn't feel like the character we know. AKT barely gets any screen time. Despite the plot point that he wanted to see the wedding happen, we barely see his character in most of the functions and even when we do his dialogues are repetitive and not really that impactful which makes you wonder, why would writers do that unless they didn't plan this scenario at all. Meethi and Satyakaam's abrupt entries were also not planned. From costumes to dance, every thing felt half baked in this shaadi. Adini ki shaadi me two proper Arylie dances mile like Shiddat and Doli Saja ke rakhna but Arylie ki khud ki shaadi me ek bhi choreographed number nahi? Isn't it weird? Probably because course correction me likhi is script me they had no time to get a choreographer and do a proper sequence.

All this wedding has done so far is whitewash the Tripathi family and ensure that Imlie's savior complex for Arpita and Narmada will prompt her to get married even though Aru will give her a choice to back out. So this way makers have ensured that ASR's character is not butchered, Arylie is married and they have space for angst, hate love story after the wedding.

Conclusion: This somewhat marzi ki shaadi came out of syllabus for makers and fandom both.

Yes it's being speculated that shadi track wasn't in cards but they had to do it on behest of channel but who knows the actual story 🤷

kekeke... So if you have seen my posts and topics, you would know that I am on the other side 😀: so I would disagree with you that this is out of syllabus shaadi

a) I don't see this as forced marriage but rather a negotiation and there is no such thing as a win-win negotiation. Everyone loses something to get something. That is the nature of negotation. So it really doesn't bother me.

b) I see this track as a natural progression of Aryan and not out of character. One of my posts from before on that

c) I also do see a point for this track from the writers' perspective and the overall drama arc -- here is my long long long post about it earlier

My take is that based on the favourable audience feedback, the creatives moved forward to make Arylie more centerpiece. Now, they could have gone about it in two ways to build the romance

1. A more quieter romance based on them working together day by day and slowly falling in love -- a good example would probably be Anupama? (though I have only seen bits and pieces)

2. A fiery type romance based on them forced to stay with each other and going through drama.

So I get why they chose option #2. I only started watching from Aryan's entry but this drama is not one of those slice of life type dramas. Everything is over the top and there is no lull from one adventure and drama. You finish one track and there is another trouble that happens. So on and so forth. Given that, it looks like option #1 would have not fit in with their writing style and would not have had the kind of impact and chatter they wanted. Plus, the other reason option #1 would not have worked because these are two of the blindest characters -- both of them are obsessed with other stuff (him with revenge, business and she with saving the world especially the T family). So the marriage track needed to happen in order for them to see each other as man and woman. Otherwise, the gadhe and jungli would have just continued fighting and co-existing with zero awareness.

That said: I do agree that there have been gaps in the writing and it is a bit more flawed. It feels rushed and we are not getting the connecting bridges that we had tied in earlier. It makes me wonder if the team is short of people and the ones who used to write those scenes are on leave. However, I do think the team is paying attention to our feedback and hopefully, there will be course correction where we got the kind of poetry from earlier.

Maybe it's true about SP wanting a shaadi track. I don't watch any other show other than Imlie but SM kinda keeps me in the loop of what's going on in other shows and I think all other shows on SP are having an ongoing wedding track, had a wedding track recently or will have one in the near future. Only the two shows jointly second in the TRP race don't seem to have such a track but even the main couples there have been through a separation recently and are trying to reconcile.

Guataakhi Maah ho. I tried to tag as many people as I remember interacting with on AT, DT. Reserving your tag for my next post for sure.😳

Oh I have no doubt they the plan was to get Arylie married bt I don't think it was planned with all these functions. With so many loopholes in the writing, i really believe that all these rasams were not planned at all but had to be added

I guess we will just have to disagree.😀 ITV is just a reflection of our people. They keep saying the big fat Indian wedding will shrink but others say that we love all our numerous functions too much to really cut it down. 😂... so how could we not have a drama wedding without it dragging for days? 🤣

There has to be an explanation for all this mess! So I’ll take this one

I mean, I’m still not out of the Sagayi wala costume + decor horror 💀

Considering all that, this seemed last minute ke bhi last minute .

Also this rush-drag thing hasn’t served any purpose either, there has been no progress whatsoever, only dragged them back by a lot . They are nowhere close to realising the nature of their relationship , they’ve been so adamant with Aru’s theesri baat udhaar until the very end, so love and confession will only come later. Only request is, once they’re done with whatever pulav they’re cooking, just let them be themselves again pleeeeej😭
