The words were barely a whisper but he heard it and it crushed him. He wanted to deny the accusation, he wanted to explain that he would never even think of using her. He had made sure that she was neither a weapon nor a casualty in his revenge.

He wanted to reach out to her, he wanted to hold her face in his hands, he wanted to force her to look him in the eyes and he wanted her to see the truth in them. But above all he needed her to see the truth herself.

And so he said nothing. He stood there, unmoving, his face as unrevealing as ever. For he feared the slightest movement would cause him to reach out to her and pull her against himself.

Imlie’s eyes floated up, searching his face, searching for something. What was she looking for? If it was regret she wouldn’t find any. If it was lies there weren’t any. But if it was the truth, he knew she would see it. She would see through the mask, she would look behind the cracks and she would find it. Just like she always did.

But to do that, she has to be looking for the truth, and only that. To see it in him she needs to be trusting. But if the accusation that had just escaped her lips was any indication, she did not trust him anymore. She had lost her faith in him.

Maybe she had spent it all on her ex or maybe she was too broken to place any on him. He couldn’t blame her - he wouldn’t blame her. He just stood there, letting her absorb it all, letting her make her decision.

Aryan’s eyes burned with unshed tears, they threatened to leak out of the corners but he wouldn’t let them. He could show no sign of weakness. So he let them dry in his eyes as he continued to stare at Imlie.

“Was it worth it?”

And with her question all his hope washed away. He turned to look anywhere but her because looking at her would make him fall to his knees and cry his heart out. So he chose to look at the wall to his side.

“Was it worth all the years of bitterness? Was it worth burning yourself in the fire of revenge every single day? Was it worth what we had?”

She paused, taking in a long shaky breath.

“Was it worth losing me?”

That made his head snap back in her direction. He physically recoiled as if she had slapped him with her words.

That was it. He couldn’t do this anymore.

With two long strides he closed the distance between them. One hand snaking around her waist to pull her against him. The other made its way to her face pushing the lose locks of hair behind her ear.

“Nothing in this world is worth losing you” his words were a whisper, a breath of air that danced around in her head.

The warmth of his hand that rested on her back kept her grounded and the hand dabbing away at her tears made her look up at him.

“Then why? Why did you use me? You used me as a weapon to hurt him and that is making me question if anything was real… if any of this was real.”

Aryan leaned his forehead against hers.

“Do you trust me?” He asked… his voice tiny, such a contrast to Aryan Singh Rathore the stern CEO of Bhaskar Times.

“What kind of question is that” Imlie whispered

“Do you trust me?” He asked again, the question more like a plea.

“Yes” and the word was enough.

“Then know this. I never used you, not then, not now and I never will. Using you was never in the cards Imlie. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me.”

He paused letting the words sink in. Then with a long breath continued

“I would never take my revenge through you. My revenge is my problem, not yours and it never will be yours. My relationship with you and my feelings for you are separate to my problems with Aditya.”

He pulled away to get a good look at her. The hope in his eyes providing a clear shine to them.

“Understand?” He asked

Imlie looked at him, he may not know it but his words had warmed her heart, she had never felt so valued in life. She had felt loved before, but valued? no.

Imlie continued to stare at the man that made her heart wild with just his presence. The man who caused the butterflies to riot in her stomach by merely his voice and the man that made her body flood with warmth at his touch.

She saw the truth as clear as day on his face, she saw the hope that lit up his eyes and she saw the fear of losing her in the tremble of his lips. And so she did something. And she did it with a sense of urgency, she did it with a sense of certainty that she had never felt before.

She got on to her toes and planted a kiss on his cheeks. That was her answer. That was her show of faith.

With that she ran away, missing the widening eyes of the man she left behind. His cheek burned at the place her lips were just a few seconds ago, the touch of her lips lingering there. Unconsciously a hand wandered to his cheek and a ghost of a smile played on his lips.

I really enjoyed reading your OS do write more ❤. You caught the emotions of Aryan and Imlie so right. I want this to happen someday with more intensity in the ep too

Loved it ..The way you explained aryan's inner feelings as if u did PhD on him ..His pain on hearing her words and I am glad he didn't give up ..He made her believe him and the way she said yes very sweet ...
