Oh yes! Despite the 7 years of "love" she was insecure at the fact that he left for 2 - 3 days to cover a storyđđ
I think its not just lack of trust..she kinda knew it all along, that there was no much of a love he has ever expressed for her. Shes tuned herself so much to be like Adi. She thought staying compatible meant being alike and imparted the same philosophy to him. She was assured that love could always happen to him, and she wanted him to experience it through her. He had no freedom in their relationship, but she also knew Adi has a free spirit. But still she kept imposing herself on him. She should have given him his space to figure himself out. If that had happened, they would not have stayed for 7 long years.
But with Imlie, he had absolute freedom and their trust grew in spite of those adverse circumstances. She had never imposed herself on him. She herself was free spirited like Adi.
Problem ye tha that for both it was more of an aadat than pyaar. That is why she was always afraid that he will leave her and go away. She felt that agar aadat badal gayi then she will be left alone. Malini is more afraid of being alone rather than just losing Adi. Uske liye usne itni mehnat se apne liye ek aisa partner chuna tha who was perfectly compatible (acc to her), malleable, ready to grovel when needed and stood up to her mother. She was more worried that her 7 years of effort to mold herself to Adi's tastes will go down the drain if Adi leaves her and she is left alone. Uske hisab se letting him go on his assignments and changing her preferences for him were her way of giving him space and being the way he would want his life partner to be. She never understood that Adi always needed someone who challenges him at every point and was willing to push him out of his comfort zone, which is what Imlie did.
