Thanks So much for this review. I daily wait for the analysis of the episode, and I know today you have burned the midnight oil to give us this beautiful analysis. Today's episode was LITTT. Finally we got to see the AKT we were looking for. Just today I realized why I like this show and it is genuinely all because of Aditya's character's journey. I mean even though the name of the show is "Imlie", Adi's characterization has been really beautiful and complex for a ML in ITV. Today he proved that I was right in connecting with him and his growth. Here is a guy who 1. Accepts that he was wrong in judging a person and venting out his frustration on someone who was equally scarred by the incident. 2. Is willing to atone for his sins by being buried but not let go of his feelings towards someone he truly has a soul connection. 3. Understands where Imlie's insecurities come from and is willing to give her the time and space to come to terms with the new normal. 4. Still has "fikar" for Malini (esp in today's episode when she says she is going alone to Manali and he was like "it is not safe") despite everything and wants to continue being a friend for her and wants her to be happy. 5. Has always stood up for Imlie (even when he hated her he knew she would never steal) and continues to do so, even when she does not ask for it. 6. Truly believes he has a connect with Imlie beyond their shaadi and so is willing to go to any lengths to make her understand that he cannot be with anybody else.

These qualities and today's rant of his really made me proud that this show is willing to explore such complex facets of human emotion on ITV. I know that the last few episodes have been more of didi jaap, but there also it makes sense to me due to the following things - 1. Imlie is very attached to didi, as she felt didi was the first person who treated her as an equal when she met her (later didi changed her stance which is a different thing which Imlie has conveniently forgotten). 2. For Imlie, didi was that ideal that she would want to emulate, as she is beautiful, humble (according to Imlie and T family), has donated blood for her and defends her like Adi to the world. Imlie thinks that when such an ideal person is there as a choice for a life partner, she feely guilty and confused to why someone like Adi will choose her. 3. Imlie's didi jaap is a lot like Meethi's painter babu's jaap when she always believed that DC will come for her and give her the respect she deserves. It took her almost 20 years and a nudge from Adi & Imlie to let go of her insecurities and get married to Satyakam. Imlie is going to have some of those traits and will behave like a doormat for people she thinks are her "family" no matter how wrongly they treat her. 4. Malini right now is the most vulnerable and confused in the current situation. I know many people will not like what I say here, but to see it from Malini's side - here is a woman who has always craved for a big family and a partner who was her best friend and showed all the qualities that she was looking for in her husband. When Adi categorically said that he loves Imlie and she will be his first priority going forward, she lost not only her husband, but to an extent even her friend. She would love to blame someone in this situation, but she knows it will backfire on her coz all three are blameless for this mess. While Adi di ruin her life by marrying her when he already was married, but she understood his thought process and not accepting the truth will make her look bad, which she will not allow. I do not agree with people who say she is manipulative. She is just acting out for self preservation, as she feels like she needs to protect her heart from further damage. She also knows that Adi is someone who will not let go unless he is sure that Malini is fine, which will make it difficult for her to move on as well. I also appreciate that somewhere she wants to salvage her relations with Imlie as well coz even though she would like to blame her for this current predicament, she still feels for Imlie and wants to maintain a relationship with her.

So today's episode overall gave me hope that the jouney will get better going forward.

I agree with most of what you have said. I guess this is how the writers wanted to portray Malini, but somewhere between the writing and execution quite a few things have been lost and some of the audience have perceived her as manipulative. This might work well for the creators too as they can mold her either into a mahaan person or a grey person, as and how the story/TRP demands. I have been confused about Malini’s charecter too, but still understand where she comes from( her childhood and her social conditioning).

Going forward looks like the creators want to explore the Malini and Imlie sisterhood relationship, and some of the dialogues from yesterday (Malini saying how does Imlie know me better than Aditya or something of that sort) looks like how they have explored the soulmate connection with Aditya- Imlie, they’ll explore the blood is thicker than water connection with Imlie-Malini.

This is where the story might differ from the original I guess. What’s in a name we might think but ‘Ishti Kutum’
(Does it mean happy family) was a family drama, ‘Imlie’ might be an exploration of Imlie’s different relationships. And the main relationships they’ll explore will be Imlie-Aditya and Imlie-Malini, and maybe to some extent they’ll explore Aditya-Malini’s friendship.

Looks like we got the most awaited Adi-Imlie conversation today about their own relationship though Didi Jaap is still maintained. I will post my thoughts after watching the epi in the evening.

Honesty, it really wasn't about resolving the doubt issue from last week😆. Then she was thinking he actually left her for Malini.....lol today she was like he SHOULD be with Malini cuz they are made for each other😆. Ismein logic/consistency mat dhundo.....the writers are giving her random token doubt scenes for drama.

Cuz if I was to really start counting the holes in this narrative.....lol Imlie has heard Adi tell her before also what she means to him in PD.....when Pari questioned her ki how can Adi fall in love with her, Imlie gave a whole list of her own qualities that her Amma and Dadda have given her so why can't Adi love her?😆.....wohi Imlie aaj 2-3 lines of praise for Malini sunkar totally went back to putting herself down😆 and claiming ki Adi ko pyar ki samajh hi nahin hai and is mistaking pity to be love.....ROFL.

I wouldn't even have minded all the inconsistencies if I could see it's leading towards some resolution....but lagta nahin aisa kuch hoga.....cuz the most notable thing in all of Adi's otherwise very nice speech about his feelings for Imlie was him playing up Kismat again....he talked about Vishwaas and his hurt over Imlie not having trust/faith in him.....what he didn't talk about was why he loves Imlie despite her not having any of the qualities that everyone is hyping in Malini.....lol and as long as that never gets touched on, it will be easy to keep throwing Imlie in this zone where she sees sundar/susheel Malini didi as some fairy that Adi should actually love and herself as some street urchin that Adi took pity on.

Adi has no recognition of Imlie's self-worth issues😆....to him, this is simply a trust issue and he wants Imlie to trust him, that's all.....which is why the whole scene ended on him basically talking about waiting for Imlie as long as it takes. So they aren't going to resolve Imlie's self-worth issues but she will magically get over everything once the divorce has been finalized and she can stop having FBs of the AM marriage in her head😆.

Anyways, the usual aimless drag aside, the Adi-Imlie scenes were good as stand-alones😆

The first one with Imlie showing up to ask him to bring Malini home again and Adi's expression in response😆......They are showing Imlie like a short term memory loss patient.....like she has totally forgotten the events of last week where she called him Dhokebaaz for going to Malini but now wants him to bring the same Malini back to his house😆. Every expression on Adi's face in this scene mirrored that of the audience being made to listen to the total lack of sense in anything Imlie says these days.

I used to talk about comprehension problems for other characters in this show.....lol but Imlie ke andar ka Loservedi khoon ab sar chadh ke bolta hai and proves ki comprehension problems are a general family trait.

The best part was the bit where she flipped his own argument back on him to claim he still doesn't recognize love😆.....the girl who herself seems to have zero understanding of love is thinking ki haan main samjhaungi Babusahib ko ki woh pyar ko samajhne mein phir se galti kar rahe hain😆

Oh and Imlie's reaction to learning about the divorce being filed😆.....also she is no less than Adi in extrapolating promises/declarations....khud se bol diya ki you promised you won't take any action until I verify KC is real or not and he's like nope, I only promised not to tell the family the truth😆....baaki main jo marzi karunga.....lol

Btw gotta love how this whole convo was happening with the backdrop that Malini now knows the truth but Imlie thinks uske baad bhi Didi will be able to aaraam se stay with a guy who told her he's married to someone else?😆.....oh my bad, why think of such basic sense when we need to set up a scene of "confused Imlie"😆.

The Vishwaas ke diye scene ka idea was nice no doubt and a nice poignant throwback to one of our fav. diya scenes ofcourse.....I also liked how Adi pitched it as him lighting these diyas cuz Imlie's vishwaas is wavering now even though she is the one who taught him what vishwaas was.....what irony.....Anyways, he managed to express some more today why he loves her, what transformation she brought about in him that he never experienced before......Imlie was moved on hearing all this, so small mercies about that atleast😆

But then as always, the AM shaadi flashback superseded it all in her head.....lol....they also gave Imlie wohi standard "aapne Malini didi ko chuna" waale dialogues jo pehle Adi maarta tha ki "Humne Moon ko chuna hai"😆......Adi toh ek din samajh gaya khud se ki he was deluded in his choices.....but Imlie ko toh jitna marzi muh pe bol lo, you will not be able to convince her much😆

Even after this whole senti convo, Imlie cried to herself for a bit and then only retained the bit about Adi telling her Didi is going with KC to Manali😆....so that gave her purpose ki ab main jaakar Didi ka jhoot uncover karungi, bas😆.....as usual khud ke rishte, us rishte se jude insaan ke baare mein sochne mein zero interest hai....but ab I'm getting used to this from her too😆

Oh but that reminds me, I did like that Adi reminded her again that this rishta is not hers alone, it is THEIRS, together....so the vishwaas can't be hers alone either.

Anyways, I still don't really get what Imlie is trying to do.....lol KC ka jhoot pakad ke kya prove ho jaayega? Will that make Adi go back to Malini cuz Malini still loves him? lol I really didn't get Imlie ka intent there cuz even her "acknowledgement" of Adi's words felt so token😆.....but again, ab aadat ho gayi hai is Imlie ki😆

But the most under-rated development in the epi was the divorce lawyer finding out about Didi ka loverboy😆.....this lie continues to take a life of its own and Didi will have to live it soon enough.....lol

Tripathis in their own lala land ki AM are meeting up for dates....lol so are AM seriously thinking ki divorce final karne ke baad hi bataayenge apni families ko?😕😆 Ok then......lol

About the precap.....I don't think Adi is going to say anything at this point😆.....this is just the standard set of scenes that will happen in this track with Tripathis putting down/demeaning Imlie or making her feel like an outsider.

Imlie will keep wallowing in her usual self-flagellation/hurt but will still make time to keep reminding Adi ki woh uspe DAYA karta hai😆.....even better, she will say she deserves to be mistreated like this cuz woh Didi ke dukh ka kaaran hai😆.....see it's so easy after a point to follow the asinine depiction they've decided to reduce Imlie to😆....self-worth nahin, trust nahin, faith nahin......yehi toh hai humari Imlie ab.

Abhi toh build up chal raha hai.....ek taraf Ts in their delusion that AM will get together again....dusri taraf Imlie in her delusion that she will be allowed to live in peace even in naukar mode in T house now😆

Btw I just realized why Imlie's dialogues about talaak mat lo, Didi ko waapis le aao feel even more hilarious given she was questioning her mom again recently ki apne haq ke liye kyun nahin ladi😆......why ask your mom to fight when you don't yourself? Ever heard of lead by example, Imlie?😆

Tbh i dont get the tripathi's Hyper reactions, especially of Aparna lately...Why isn't she able to come terms with aditya is not happy in the marriage and completely ignoring his dard...may be she is scared of chaturvedi's Wrath if marriage falls apart and they will ruin her son's career😆

It's simply a case of people seeing what they want to see rather than what's in front of them very clearly.

Anyone can see at a glance that Adi is not happy in his marriage with Malini and is totally done with it. But Tripathis want to cling to the memory of what they saw in the past vis a vis Adi seeming happy with Malini then.....so they have closed their eyes to the truth in the present.

They haven't thought that far yet of what Mrs. C will do if this marriage breaks....lol for them right now this is all about just wanting things to be as they were before.

I felt sorry for both Aditya and Imlie today. But more for imlie.

Today they showed us the vulnerable side of Imliya. Her inferiority complex. If we get over her didi jaap and sindoor lectures we can see that she is just a teenage girl dealing with complex situations and intense feelings that are beyond her. I felt so sorry for her as she stood at dining table feeling jealous, hurt and inferior as T-fam gushed about Malini. She decided that what ever t-fam is saying is true and she must inform Aditya that he pities her. And mistakes that pity as love. And joh volcano phuta uspe. GM potrayed Aditya's frustation so perfectly. Aditya's dialogues we also gold. He did not have words. Tumhara... hum puch kyu rahe hai.. hum jaante hai tumhara dimaag kharaab hochuka hai lol. At the end imlie was like why doesnt BBSB understand what i understool sitamaiyya. At this point i was like oh jhalli!!!.

I loved the vishwaas ka diya scene too. Aditya was so soulful in his declaration of his feelings. he wanted imlie to do the EHSAAN of accepting his feelings for her and her feelings for him. dono hone wale nai the.

Guilt and inferiority complex proved to be a deadly combo. If her inferiority complex makes it impossible to believe that he can love her, her guilt will stop her from accepting her feelings for him. BBSB ke acche din shuru hone wale hai.

Imlie repeated her rinse and repeat dialogues about Malini didi's khushi. Causing both of themselves heart break. Out of heart break came conclusions. Imlie's to find if KC is real. Aditya's that he will wait for her.

I felt Malini inn dono ke darr ke maare will start living in PD. Saying extended vacation in Manali with KC while auditioning guys for KC role.

Random thoughts and rants:

1) Aparna was positively gushing that AM were meeting. Inka bohut bura dil tootne wala hai.

2) Everyone in T-fam had to take turns and praise Malini.

Malini ghar aur kaam ko balance karti hai?? I always see her ghar pe pade hue. Never saw a single scene of her teaching lol

BK's : Bhawaan ne aajkal aise bache banana chod diya was too much for me. I was like thank god!

3) T-fam seems incapable of praising didi without putting aditya down. In every session they conclude she put up with akdu Adi for 7 years no easy task. They boil aditya down to gussa and akdupan as if there is nothing else to him.

4) Nishant muh kyu kholta hai. I was so annoyed at his "chachi kaisa hai aapka beeta. Kuch batha tha hi nai". And when she showed his teeth to imlie i was somehow offended enough to feel like punching him.

5) T-fam ko privacy ka matlab bhi nai pata hai. I found it awkward that they all assembled in hall to get the date details from aditya. They really need a hobby.

I was also wondering how is aditya so different from t-crowd? How did he develop the disconnect with his family? So much that his family only talks about his gussa and akdupan all the time. why was he angry, in his own words, with system, duniya and pata nai kya kya. I know they will never address this is serial, but i was curious.

He is kaolin daya.. which seems to be her new fav since her vist to the C's ...isko har koi jar waqt daya hi karta lagta hai... Sara self worth chulhe main jhonk dia hai.. the other bit that always bug me is the padhi likha hona of Malini... like seriously 🙄 yeah she is done her education caz she is older then you and it is not like you didn't just topped the state so where is this coming from ke hum kaabil nahi hai caz we are not padhe likhe.. behan padh rahi ho na agar amnesia se baahar aao toh.. in due time ban jaaogi toh bhi kuch.. but she just has to keep putting herself down in comparison to didi for convenience purposes😌🤷‍♀️

I guess adi doesn't realize them because he also is under the dhoka ke imlie ke liye yeh superficial baatein matter nahi karti.. something we also.thoight till now ke iska self worth kaafi high hai.. yeh faltu baatein se isko farak nahi padta iss level ka and sach main nahi padta tha but ab suddenly she is hyper sensitive in counting her kamiyaan and her khamiyaan jaise kuch acha bacha hi nahi hai isme na kabhi tha.. she is taking her kisi ki faltu bakwaas as harf-e- akhir and is too focused on matters that aren't relevant .. which is why for adi it is more of her wavering vishwaas in the rishta so he reminds her to have faith to keep faith to trust him to beleif in him and not expect him to flip ainvayein hi.. usse kya pata woh toh ab imlie ka naya shauk hai.. roz flip karna for stupid reasons..

Some caps on Adi's frustrated expressions from the bit where Imlie was oh so nicely explaining to him how he feels DAYA for her and how he should be with Malini cuz he chose her😆

Imlie "laagic" de rahi thi Babusahib ko that he feels pity for a 19 year old girl going through misfortune in life😆....

Adi's expressions showed the level to which he was feeling insulted in the validity of his own feelings being dismissed but obviously Imlie didn't care😆
