Today's episode was a mixed bag.....
Most of it played out as expected, including the lame sindoor drama, Malini saving Imlie, Adi crying uselessly on the side and then later berating Imlie.....the rest of it was token comedy Imlie scenes with the family.
But a few things were noteworthy in the epi:
1) In the Adi-Imlie convo, we now learn what "zimmedaari" really means to Adi and Imlie😆.....turns out that for Adi, "zimmedaari" ended at him saving Imlie's life😆....and for Imlie, "Zimmedaari" was keeping a fast for her pati's long life 😆. Let's not even bother getting into the half-baked reasoning for when Imlie suddenly decides to use Sita Maiyya as an excuse and when she doesn't....
I found it to be a bit of a disjointed convo.....but then again, maybe that was intentional....both of them were not being upfront with each other so they were deflecting at different points. It began with Adi asking Imlie directly, "Tum kya chahti ho, Imlie"?.....and Imlie rattled off a list of "college jaana hai, degree leni hai, officer banna hai" almost like she's just repeating a list for the heck of it.....when even she can see that she is doing NOTHING to achieve these things she claims she wants to do.
And Adi has reverted back to being suspicious of her motivations again because she kept this fast....now he's wondering if Imlie is deliberately trying to compete with Malini and if she has some expectation from him again😆......instead of clarifying that she doesn't, Imlie angled off to some tangent about "Us din PD mein aapne humaari jaan kyun bachaayi, humein waapis Dilli kyun le aaye"....that is when Adi burst out in frustration that he shouldn't have done any of that and just ended it all that day only.
If I was to hazard a guess....Imlie seems to feel adrift over what to do next in her life cuz this one time, Adi took the decision to bring her back to Delhi.....she didn't come on her own, nor was she forced to by the villagers as was the case last time....and that is why she keeps questioning what am I doing back in this house, this city when this was the last thing I expected given how everything was happening. Still, Imlie beta, agar yehi confusion hai, phir bhi nothing is stopping you from trying to start college.....better get moving :P
2) Adi-Malini ka honeymoon period seems to have hit a MAJOR rough patch😆.....on exactly the thing that there were warning signs of all along.....the class difference. Adi's ego anyways doesn't have much patience for Mrs. C trying to lavish rich gifts on Malini or him....and Malini has always been clueless about the extent to which it hits Adi's pride....today that issue came to a head again with Mrs. C sending a car to drop Malini off to school.
For the first time, Adi seems to be reflecting on the fact that him and Malini met up these 7 years but never spent so much time continuously together before marriage😆....now they are with each other 24/7 and he's wondering if she feels like he can't provide her with a comfortable lifestyle.....lol
I saw cracks rising to the surface pretty clearly today....it has all been brewing under the surface for a while....Adi has rarely shared his candid thoughts with Malini or the extremes of his personality....but in the precap, he seems to be fully letting all his frustrations out on Malini for a change😆.....time for a reality check for this marriage I suppose.
That said, I also can see it's pretty likely that Imlie will try to patch them up😆.....not sure how Adi will take it but that's the direction this is going in most likely.
