Its a good show but....society treats things differently

The show looks refreshing, the cast is great.

But getting deep into the concept of a girl who behaves like a boy some question arises

1. In the show it has been shown that during childhood she has been made fun of because of her height

2. She grows up to be like a boy almost.Not a tomboy

3. People do have apprehensions about her boyish nature but they dont cross limits

THATS HOW SOCIETY IS

Now Suppose

1. If A boy grows up and behaves like a Girl, people will directly call him Gay, Transgender, Eununch what not or evn ridicule him .

But if a girl behaves like a man, it is considered a symbol of women empowerment, strength of a women. Same in the show people are lauding the lead actress for being as boyish character

Even India Forums in its review of the show call that its great that she is not girly.

My question is why different standards for different situations?

If a boy grows up a behaves as a girl, society will not leave him but him by criticising

But in the show a girl behaving as a boy is great sign of women empowerment

STRANGE.

That is unfortunately the state of Indian society. Boys are forced to fit the 'manly' stereotype which sometimes even encourages criminal behaviour like eve teasing while girls are expected to fit the ideal 'bahu' mould 🤢 .

It is terrific that they are making shows like this which encourage society to challenge the 'ideal woman' stereotype. One can only hope that soon there will also be shows which challenge the 'perfect guy' stereotype too.

If a show comes out challenging the supposed "perfect guy", or the pressure young boys face to be masculine, that would be something new.

Its not like Indian TV has only strong ML's, we also have vulnerable, insecure, mamma-boys kind of ML's like Mayank from MJHT and Atharv from JNDSD. Both the boy's moms are single mothers and without being manly they represent the strength of women and are role models for the boys. They also love those girls who they find very similar in nature to their moms.

We Indians (majority) consider being strong whether be it a male/female is a positive aspect. I don't think anyone would like a girl who always cries and faints at a prick of a nail likewise men also aren't preferred if they're weak.

With regards to dressing the whole world has accepted (for unknown reasons) female gender donning male costumes but the reverse isn't accepted, maybe because of the design.

I think they'll try to change the FL's dressing style asap in this show even though her manly nature would remain.

I like this show. other than Rishton this is the only show I watch. Everything else is the same old. Couple fans drive the popularity of shows today not content 🤢

I am not really a fan of either the strong ML or the mamma-boy concept. My ideal ML would be a guy kind of similar to Mohan in NBTNMKK . Decent men who aren't afraid to stick up for their values and the people they love but at the same time not abusive. Just my opinion😳

100% true in theory. You have only to look at our history to see the kind of people we revere.Strong,Brave leaders. Which makes it all the more baffling that so much of the content shown on TV and in movies revolves around either subjugating women to fit societal stereotypes-usually by other women- or objectifying them, like in item songs. There is no middle ground showing the Indian girl as she is - a regular,normal person trying to stand on her own two feet. Either FL's are fainting around the place into the ML's arms or they are torturing other FL's like Leela Ma.

I really hope they won't change her dressing style though. Can you imagine her wandering about in her sasuraal in those loose shirts and wide leg pants?. Leela would have a heart attack.

They have a good concept. I just hope they stick to it.
