This post comes very late...I hope you'll see it...I don't do PMs...

"She stared at me curiously. Her voice dropped to a whisper. "Sometimes, when I walk along the corridor here, I fancy I hear her just behind me. That quick, light footstep. I could not mistake it anywhere. And in the minstrels' gallery above the hall. I've seen her leaning there, in the evenings in the old days, looking down at the hall below and calling to the dogs. I can fancy her there now from time to time. It's almost as though I catch the sound of her dress sweeping the stairs as she comes down to dinner." She paused. She went on looking at me, watching my eyes. "Do you think she can see us, talking to one another now?" she said slowly. "Do you think the dead come back and watch the living?"
Daphne du Maurier, Rebecca

Even before I saw the episode today...I thought of Rebecca...the story...which this show seems to be based on...

Arzoo playing the role of the young wife to Maxim...through a second marriage...the first one being dead...

MAxim, who doesn't want to talk about his past...
But he is a product of the past...he has a wall around him...that the young wife could not penetrate...the ghost of Rebecca hanging around...not literally but figuratively in the book...

Never the less...always present between them...

The housemaid...who was obsessed with Rebecca...who made the young wife feel like she would never be good enough...what Rebecca and Maxim shared was irreplaceable...to be cherished forever...

Something was right about the episode today,...it felt like I was back several years...reading this novel again...with Arzoo trying to break the barrier...to find out about the past...about Zeenat...how he felt...how he feels...

And
Saahir...completely unwilling to go to that chapter of his life...not wanting to talk about it...

I have never said this before...but the background music in this show is quite awesome...!!who so ever came up with it...comes up with it...deserves an applause...👏

BTW to clarify ...There is no ghost in Rebecca...just like there is no ghost in HS...I am using the word and concept figuratively...in other words Saahirs past creates a barrier between them because Sahir doesn't want to open up...Rebecca or Zeenat is that ghost connected to his past...

Of course they have their moments...when they connect...
A small act of caring...
A smile...
A nod...

But when it comes to the ghost sitting in the room...everything freezes...

I liked this scene ...it flowed very naturally...
Quite well done actually...

I think this scene was well done too...as outrageous as it is...
Kurti aapa...whose character is based on Mrs. Danvers...who obsesses over Rebecca ie. Zeenat almost to an unhealthy extent...stops Saahir from taking Zeenat for an MRI to find out about her brain activity that she can not fool...she knows their little secret will be caught...

She acted crazy enough to pull that one off...

The scene was well written because ...it also established Saahir as a reasonable thinking person...who is not brushing off Arzoo's claims that Zeenat's condition is better than what she is presumed to be...

All of the following is inserted stuff...

The ACP...who is neither sharp...nor methodical to be an investigator...at least he was funny to begin with...
But not lately...

His insistence on asking questions from someone who is half unconscious was quite ridiculous...

There is Alvira and her drama...

And finally there is Zaki...who they have stopped giving any dialogues to...I don't know why...I actually like his character and the actor both...his expressions in the small time that the camera focuses on him are quite good...even without any dialogues...

Sush ,

Thank's for opening a post ...Rebecca it is ...We have discussed this in the past ...Right time to discuss again ...

The background score credit goes to Raju Singh ...he is a master ...he has several Tele awards to his credit .

I loved the episode ...The build up is well done ...would have liked to see a tighter screenplay and direction ...For once the CV's maintained the continuity from yesterday's episode ...Absolutely loving the fact that Arzoo has her thinking cap on ...Putting Saahir on spot ...Hope the CV's continue this momentum .

Will add few more thought's ...have to be on a call ..will be back ...

"We can never go back again, that much is certain. The past is still close to us. The things we have tried to forget and put behind us would stir again, and that sense of fear, of furtive unrest, struggling at length to blind unreasoning panic - now mercifully stilled, thank God - might in some manner unforeseen become a living companion as it had before."

Sush great post again and swetha awesome job with collages dear .
Shivya looks really gorgeous in that purple suit today.
The episode was good story wise and glad there was continuity of SAAZ scene . Arzoo is not happy about Alvira lying and sahir justify the same ...is it boz he knows very well he did the same with arzoo through out the marriage process ...all the lie told for a good cause is ok... This is where alvira and sahir resemble in character .

Growing bond between SAAZ and the way they comfort each other ...physical proximity and their hesitation ...the concern for each other ...is the development in the newlywed couple and they are enjoying it. But the only obstacle is zeenat which sahir is not comfortable sharing with arzoo and arzoo restless to known the equation between sahir and zeenat and her pretending to be in coma.

KA is at her best in giving arzoo an impression that she is an intruder in happily married zeenat and sahir life. She twist every action of sahir to favor her illusion and make arzoo believe that they were happily married till the accident and sahir still loves zeenat ...leaving arzoo think she has landed in aplace where she is not needed ...Arzoo falling for KA trap .

Alvira's drama to prove she is a victim and was attacked by some one only to be eliminated from the suspects list indeed a smart act . But why sahir shield Alvira and her acts ?
I have my theory to that ...SAHIR doesn't want to reveal the fact that he is not alvira's son but son in law which will again reveal that he is an orphan ...that can also lead to disclose zeenat's bethrayal and cause for her accident which is wrapped up formality reputation and humiliation of sahir .
I feel the accident planned for sahir but zeenat became a victim and by revealing all the past the blame may again go to Alvira and that's the reason both joined hands in covering up past.

The background score is a melody to ears and one of the member made an index .

What I found significant was the conversation Aarzoo and Saahir had in the beginning of the episode. "That in order to fight for what is right sometimes you have to utilize the path of lies." Many people saw this as Saahir defending himself by deceiving Arzoo about Zaki. I basically see Saahir as defining his own principles and ideology. He was never presented as a completely honest man of integrity. Perhaps he learned to use lies for the greater good from a very young age. I also see this as foreshadowing for an event that is coming up.

If this was meant to be a mystery than it would have been a lot more exciting if they kept us in a state of uncertainty about Saahir's past. I mean it would have kept the audience at the edge of their seat. We would have gone through the same interrogations and queries as Arzoo. But they kept Zeenat darling alive so the polygamy matter came in between and they showed Saahir having hate talks with Zeenat. But from the flashbacks we also saw Saahir and Zeenat being happily married at some point. Perhaps Saahir was under illusion of being in a happy marriage back then. So it has been left as somewhat of a question mark to an extent.

Kurti Appa descriptions seem to fit in. She was describing things in a way Arzoo could see evidence from the present of a happy marriage from the past. But the same qualities left behind a suffering Saahir today could also be from a bad marriage from the past. When Arzoo started questioning herself about what she is doing here. Im sorry to break to you Arzoo, these questions should have arisen way beforehand. In fact before you got married you should have asked Saahir why he wanted a second wife when he already had one. Right after your heart break you should have questioned Saahir why he thought it was ok to have a short fling with an employee when he revealed his marital status. Chalo dar aye durust aye "Better late than never." Any girl would start to wonder in her shoes and I'm glad they finally showed what was natural.

They once again addressed the issue of Arzoo feeling that Zeenat might not be in a coma. A tad bit more credit on the screenplay this time. Saahir did not call Arzoo delusional nor did he compare her to Kurti Appa. He instead told her he trusts her and he plans to do further inquiry of the matter. Thankfully no "You have to accept Zeenat." Now if they really wanted plus points from my end they could have gone a step further and make Saahir add " I understand how difficult it must be for you to live under the same roof as Zeenat." But oh well, altogether the issue was much better addressed this time around. But he needs to show more sensitivity to the matter that Arzoo has to live under the same roof as his ex-wife. He need be shown a little more caring considering he knows Arzoo grew up hating the second women. Which why I feel he should open up about his past to Arzoo no matter how difficult it might be for him. She has a right to know as his wife. At first, I thought he was keeping mum for the sake of her but it that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

Great post Sush! And Fab collages Shweta Di! Waiting for the last post to be filled as well!

I remember really liking the book Rebcca when I read it a long time back...Tiniaa...even though there are so many problems with this production...the story has strong underpinnings based on Rebecca...RR story (with all due respect) had no such literary connection for me...

I am tempered to give up many times...on this show...because everything they Indianize...takes away from a story like Rebecca...for example the whole marriage track was absolutely bad...badly written...no consistency in character sketches...and just pure garbage...but then they come back to an episode like today's...and I am connected...

Still all the Alvira stuff is inserted and not coming from the novel...but Saahir and Arzoo do have resemblance to the character sketches of Maxim and the young wife...whose name was never disclosed in the novel I believe...Except one time when she calls herself...Caroline...

Anyway...yes...I am tolerating a lot of shoddy stuff for that connection ...and some nuggets...I stopped watching RR when I stopped connecting with Paro...happened right after Laila came back in the story...but Arzoo...I still connect to...
