Flashback 7 years ago...

Somehow Sahir comes to know of Zeenat's betrayal (which could be related to her being a gold digger or her having an extra marital affair or whatever...). This leads to their divorce (not officially perhaps) which probably only Alvira is aware of...this leads to Zeenat driving off on her own and that accident happening..then Sahir being Sahir blames himself for the accident and her comatose state...and therein things are in a limbo.

I feel the above scenario can justify a few things...

1. Alvira's antagonism towards Zeenat. I don't recall her ever saying that Zeenat is Sahir's wife.

2. Easier for the CVs to sell the idea to the Indian audience that their hero wasn't married when he married Aarzoo ie he has indulged in polygamy.

Bas..I am probably not making sense...but don't blame me..neither does Humsafars at this point !

Spunky if that was the case, he wouldn't say 'meri biwi' when the cop asks him who Zeenat is. Even if he blames himself for the accident there is no reason for him to hide is divorced state specially from Arzoo, But as you said nothing makes sense anymore.
